I sort of agree. I like the fact that Alastor is a big mystery to the world of Hazbin and is shamelessly evil, but to say he can't even at least have some genuine friends because of his manipulative nature kind of does him a disservice.

Well when he talks to Rosie you can also see his pupils dilate which is a sign of feeling happy and his facial expressions change to be a more genuine smile than his usual fake one.
I mean he doesn't use everyone he knows. Mimzy has nothing to offer and in fact seems to bring trouble with her but Alastor doesn't seem to be cutting her off. Also I'm not really sure how you act around friends but I know that I would act completely different around my friends then when I am just with a business partner. He seemed actually kind of happy and less tense while he was in cannibal town.
Yeah it’s the presents of Mimzy that makes me think Alastor is friends with Rosie, Niffty, and that he is growing fond of the hotel residents. Rosie is also probably far more dangerous than people give her credit for that she could probably stand up to Alastor to a degree to the point she can be comfortable around him, and she knows he’s planning something with Charlie and ‘agrees’. (Also low key the Fawn squeak sold me on their friendship)
Psychopaths often put up a very friendly front when dealing with people they want to keep around because they are useful. We do not know why he keeps Mimzy around but to assume she has nothing to offer just because we have not seen anything like that yet is not a safe thing to do. It is also possible Alastor just keeps her around because he finds her amusing

They are both manipulative cannibalistic overlords and seemingly lived around the same time. If Al were to have a friend Rosie would be The most likely candidate. They also seem really close (they even sit next to eachother at the overlord meeting.) I feel like they do eachother favours as friendly gestures

Niffty is a murderous goofball that probably made a deal with Alastor by accident. He keeps Niffty around because she brings him chaos and chaos brings him joy. Not because he actually cares about her. Rosie is similar to Vox an overlord that he cannot kill because of his contract (as Rosie and Vox have a lot of demons under their control and Lilith needs those unifiers for her war). So because he cannot kill her and has no intention to question her (as she has the same plan to control Charlie by replacing one parental figure of her) it would actively harmful to his own plan to be at war with her (as he is with Vox).

Still Alastor isn’t able to do whatever he wants (he is on a leash). So in what ways did we saw him restricted? How powerful he is (as the staff probably hasn’t limitless power) and who he can kill (as Vox back then was weaker but nearly best Alastor I think his contract doesn’t allow him to kill as he pleases). This would make sense if we look who survived the missing overlords incident. Camilla as a protective mother who is willing to do anything. Zestial as the oldest overlord and the most experienced one out there. The Vees because of their unifying powers. Rosie as she controls cannibal town (so she is a unifier to). Finally new overlords as they dare to become a target for the radio demon so they are probably fearless. Every single overlord is important if you want to go to war. Who wants to go to war? Lilith. As she still dreams that heaven and hell can be equals and because words failed Lucifer, war is the only alternative for change. So she created the myth of the radio demon in the hopes that one demon would be brave enough to seek the power (Alastor) and become a pawn in her game. The problem is that Alastor is about to promote himself to a queen (the deal with Charlie) and take control over the game.

This idea acts like Rosie is some helpless damsel taken advantage of. Rosie is also a powerful Overlord, they might just recognize each other as being useful and built their mutual appreciation from the benefits they both gain from each other.

No, I don't think Alastor is using Rosie. From the show, Pilot, The Comic and what Viv have said about those around Alastor. Minzy and Rosie are his friends which is why he treats them the way he does. If he wasn't so close to Minzy, the fact she isn't dead is odd, and Husker knows Minzy as well so they deal with her shenanigans. Rosie is someone that has many things in common with Alastor, from taste in food, drink, fashion and mannerism. I doubt Alastor has ill will towards her. Especially since the comic demonstrated he is a gentleman as well to those he believes deserves it
I think he definitely starts out with that intention but there scenes where we can tell he starts to become fond of charlie and the other (like the scene with nifty) but I think when he almost lost against adam he kinda snapped back to his senses. So in season two I think he will be way different than season one alastor
I don’t know why everyone says that the scene with Niffty is the reason that he “warmed up” or “cares about the cast“ as I only hear irony in his words. Especially when we look at the context: 1. He made a deal with Charlie which was his main goal 2. Husk and Angel seem to go along quite nicely so he has a new toy to play around when he wants to be sadistic. 3. Vaggie was powerless against him (couldn’t protect Charlie) 4. Charlie trust him. 5. Sir Pentious is about to be redeemed which was the plan of Lilith to give heaven a reason to go to war. 6. But in episode 7 as well when Rosie hugged him he made a dear noise that baby dears only make when they are around their mother. He probably sees Rosie as a close friend/mother figure. I wouldn't say he has no friends because we saw his reaction when Mimzy first showed up. Alastor is a cannibal so he most likely appeared in cannibal town when he first came to hell, meaning Rosie was probably his first encounter or even friend. Not only that but he is also a wendigo (proven by the wendigo cry he makes after Sir Pentious rips his jacket), so of course he would naturally be attracted (not in a love kind of way) to the cannibals and fit in more. This is also showed in the song "Ready for this" he knows just what to say in order to get the others on board because he knows them well.
he seems less tense in cannibal town (with Rosie), plus he was open enough to hint he was using charlie to Rosie, plus its hinted rosie is hellborn, which means she has no soul for alastor to take, if he was going to kill her he would have a long time ago, my theory is he was going to kill her but Rosie saw through that, which made alastor respect her since she was wise enough to know and they started hanging out, leading to this friendship
We see Rosie give him a tip regarding a demon needing help, regarding it as 'prime pickings for a deal'. She probably gave him similar advice with several of the souls he controls now including overlords like Husker.
I would agree, if it wasn't for the fact thar Alastor never lets other people touch him, not even mimzy, theo nly times where he has physical contact with someone else is when he's fighting, making a deal (both of which are necessities for him, so he has to do that) and with Rosie
I can understand the theory but there’s multiple things that might disprove it (not saying it can’t happen just my own theory) like how his eyes dilate multiple times around her and how when he lets her touch him like when their dancing as seen before when anyone touches him that he doesn’t like he wipes the “grime” off of him. But it would be interesting to see him turning on everyone nonetheless!
I personally think that Alastor has nothing good in him. The reason why he acts like that towards Rosie is because they both have the same goal (control/guide Charlie by replacing her parental figure). It wouldn’t be in favor of Alastor when Charlie thinks that he is a dick. Especially since he needs to repay her as he tricked her into a deal just moments before.
He treats Rosie and nifty the best... He even kinda teases and mocks charlie despite being "nice" to her Alastor has yet to mock rosie or Nifty in a demeaning way so id assume ye sees them as actual companions/friends
If you look closely, Alastors pupils dilate when he's talking to Rosey. You can see this in ready for this when they sing "she's filled with potential that I could guide" "I conjure." "Stick with her you'll be on the winning side!" So I don't think Alastor is using Rosey

He gave Nifty the orders that she was already going to do the moment she was placed there, which is cleaning but in a very unpredictable manor. The best way I could put it is that, Alastor knows he is above her both kn power and intention, he feels safe knowing she will never betray him, not something he can say about Husker or really anyone else he talks to. Nifty also doesn't want anything from Alastor like Mimzy and genuinely enjoys his company. It's not something he can say about anyone else. In the context of baseline friends it seems manipulative and weird but under the lens that he is a functioning Narcissist, that's some high levels of not familial but I forget what the friendship style love is called.

They are friends, rosie is naturally sweet to everyone and for the most part minds her own. She doesnt really pose any threat to his teritory and if anything she is likely one of the places he can go and get the foods he eats. Cannibal town is also more like his era. So he probably is friends with her
I would say both. He manipulates everyone around him, but that doesn't mean he dislike them all. I think he's "friends" with Rosie mainly out of interest in what she can offer, but also because she's nice to have around

It’s also interesting to note that he openly speaks out about how he wants to „guide“ Charlie’s potential in Rosie’s presence to such she concurs. Also she is freely telling him about a easy deal to be made on an overlord who has had a rough time. So even though he is playing her too, he is playing a completely different hand with her. It’s probably the same role he plays when talking to Zestial. The „sophisticated Overlord colleague“ who is in with the upper classes to manipulate the weak and those who have been fallen from grace. So even more interesting would be the question if he is more powerful than Rosie or Zestial, or if they are equals.
Considering it's hell & Rosie is not only an Overlord but the face of Cannibal town, I doubt she's a virtuous soul & probably has skeletons in the closset as well. she has friends probably unlike Al but still uses them to a certain extent (Just less so compared to him) since we know Overlords get their power from deals.

Alastor isnt fully an evil manipulator that cares for no one. He has his own moral code. Rosie just happens to fit inside of his moral code. Its likely because shes incredibly polite, doesnt talk about alastor behind his back, doesnt try to overthrow him, and assists him when he asks. Basically, if you are a respectable person and Alastor likes you, he will be your friend, and a GENUINE friend.
Just because he's a sociopath doesn't mean he's not capable of having feelings and friends but it just tends to be unlikely for sociopaths to development actual friendships where one isn't being used
I think he does like her but not as a friend. As a cheap easy source of food and as keeper of the world the way he likes it. She’s a servant to him in all but contract. Left alone she does exactly what he likes and agrees with him on everything. She gave him an army and was willing to give him 8 blocks of territory.
Alastor can definitely like and use someone at the same time. Also, Rosie may seem friendly but we really don’t know her well. She might be just as opportunistic as Alastor.
I have her show a sadistic personality but more in the motherly manner in rps, like when injuring or torturing shows a maternal attitude and voice while some other few things in rps. Al hates being touched and yet rosie is the only one he has no reaction to physical contact with and he softens up when rosie speaks to him and visversa, she may very well be his only real friend not to mention that people have speculated that based off the hazbin hotel comics that tell Al's backstory Al's mom looks somewhat similar to Rosie's characters model it is entirely possible that alastor is so comfortable with rosie not just bc of how close and kind they are to one another but also bc rosie may remind al of his mom aka the only person he's ever truly loved or been loved by

I think they're genuinely friends. Rosie informed Alastor there was "prime pickings for a deal to be made" (so he could get more power) and he turned it down because he was dealing with the current issue. They've known each other for years apparently, they sat next to each other at the Overlords meeting and shared a cordial greeting. Plus, during the song, Rosie was allowed to grab Alastor and pull him closer, and we all know that NO ONE is allowed to touch our deer boy.

When Rosie went and spun Alastor around before hugging him, Alastor let out a squeak known as a fawn squeak. Deers do these squeaks when they are happy or near their mothers. So this means Alastor sees Rosie as a mother or he just is genuinely happy when he’s with her.
I'd say no because they mutually work together. Rosie helps tell al about people to manipulate, while Al helps Rosie by presumably sponsorship on his broadcasts.
They are unified in one simple goal which is the reason why they get along so well. They both try to control Charlie. Both have the same idea (replacing either Lilith or Lucifer as parental figures). Also Alastor cannot kill Rosie because Lilith needs her in a similar way as she needs Vox to stay alive. Both Rosie and Vox are unifiers which is important when you prepare a whole dimension to go to war.
I imagine Alastor really only does things he thinks can be if it him. He says in the finale that he’s fond of the hotel crew but we know he’d sacrifice them in a heart beat if it was beneficial for him. Rosie I’d imagine would be much the same. He gets on well with her and I do think they’re actually friends but if something were to befit him by getting rid of her then he would. His pawns are HIS pawns though. I don’t he’d ever take kindly to someone just taking them without him getting something out of it. I think that might actually be a big thing in season 2 where something goes awry with Angel and his contract with Val because of Vox which has some sort of impact on Alastor that forces him to get involved or loose trust with Charlie and the hotel crew.

I personally think Cannibal Town is a safe space for Alastor because note how his mood changes in cannibal town rather than anywhere else he sounds safe and content
I think he does care for Rosie, similarly to mimzy, cause what I’ve noticed is even with Charlie & any character he uses for his own gain/ are beneath him, he with either blatantly or subtly insult them at some point, like when he points out Charlie being misguided or her daddy issues, but with mimzy and Rosie every description he gives of either, even after mimzy caused trouble for him was never negative, the worst he said to Rosie was that he knew rehabilitating wouldn’t be her style, we actually also see mimzy do a similar thing! When mimzy talks to alastor she calls him “tall dark and creepy” which in itself isn’t bad but we learn later that she did use him, it makes sense, she also shows how she is even able to manipulate alastor with whiskey and music into being docile and possibly more easy to manipulate. What I think may have been the case is he met Rosie like he did mimzy, when he was ALIVE, when he was essentially powerless other than his ability to kill people, because with Rosie’s style and the look of cannibal town, she most likely died in the 20’s or 30’s, she may have even killed along side him and ate the bodies with him, also he calls her “dangerous” which doesn’t make much sense unless she is actually stronger than him, because he seems to invalidate the power of anyone weaker than him and fear those more powerful or befriend them, like with zestial. But we also see he hates being in the presence of more powerful beings, like Lucifer or carmilla, both of them people who he KNOWS he can’t touch without being immediately taken out, when carmilla didn’t care he was gone he looked visibly upset because he wanted validation, he wanted people to be curious so he would have attention, like how he asked zestial for the “theories” about his absence, (btw I’m just noticing how LONG this is so feel free to tap out if needed this is essentially just an alastor analysis at this point) this man needs ATTENTION from those above him, and respect from those above him, but Rosie gives him both but also receives both, she doesn’t NEED him and he doesn’t NEED her, and that’s why I think it is true friendship, they CHOOSE to be friends out of compatibility instead of need. Not only do i think he's friends with rosie, it seems like he's growing fonder of the group. Hes not close to many people, but the ones he is close to seem genuine. Plus, nothing can excuse the moment on the balcony thing. He would have nothing to gain from lying to niffty. And he had nothing to gain from mimzy, but they were very close until the end of ep 5. I doubt he has anything to gain from being close friends with rosie as apposed to acquaintances (think him and zestial)

From the show, Pilot, The Comic and what Viv have said about those around Alastor. Minzy and Rosie are his friends which is why he treats them the way he does. If he wasn't so close to Minzy, the fact she isn't dead is odd, and Husker knows Minzy as well so they deal with her shenanigans.
Rosie is someone that has many things in common with Alastor, from taste in food, drink, fashion and mannerism. I doubt Alastor has ill will towards her. Especially since the comic demonstrated he is a gentleman as well to those he believes deserves it
I think he definitely starts out with that intention but there scenes where we can tell he starts to become fond of charlie and the other (like the scene with nifty) but I think when he almost lost against adam he kinda snapped back to his senses. So in season two I think he will be way different than season one alastor

But in episode 7 as well when Rosie hugged him he made a dear noise that baby dears only make when they are around their mother. He probably sees Rosie as a close friend/mother figure. I wouldn't say he has no friends because we saw his reaction when Mimzy first showed up. Alastor is a cannibal so he most likely appeared in cannibal town when he first came to hell, meaning Rosie was probably his first encounter or even friend. Not only that but he is also a wendigo (proven by the wendigo cry he makes after Sir Pentious rips his jacket), so of course he would naturally be attracted (not in a love kind of way) to the cannibals and fit in more. This is also showed in the song "Ready for this" he knows just what to say in order to get the others on board because he knows them well.
he seems less tense in cannibal town (with Rosie), plus he was open enough to hint he was using charlie to Rosie, plus its hinted rosie is hellborn, which means she has no soul for alastor to take, if he was going to kill her he would have a long time ago, my theory is he was going to kill her but Rosie saw through that, which made alastor respect her since she was wise enough to know and they started hanging out, leading to this friendship
We see Rosie give him a tip regarding a demon needing help, regarding it as 'prime pickings for a deal'. She probably gave him similar advice with several of the souls he controls now including overlords like Husker.
I would agree, if it wasn't for the fact thar Alastor never lets other people touch him, not even mimzy, theo nly times where he has physical contact with someone else is when he's fighting, making a deal (both of which are necessities for him, so he has to do that) and with Rosie
I can understand the theory but there’s multiple things that might disprove it (not saying it can’t happen just my own theory) like how his eyes dilate multiple times around her and how when he lets her touch him like when their dancing as seen before when anyone touches him that he doesn’t like he wipes the “grime” off of him. But it would be interesting to see him turning on everyone nonetheless!

The best way I could put it is that, Alastor knows he is above her both kn power and intention, he feels safe knowing she will never betray him, not something he can say about Husker or really anyone else he talks to. Nifty also doesn't want anything from Alastor like Mimzy and genuinely enjoys his company. It's not something he can say about anyone else. In the context of baseline friends it seems manipulative and weird but under the lens that he is a functioning Narcissist, that's some high levels of not familial but I forget what the friendship style love is called.

Alastor isnt fully an evil manipulator that cares for no one. He has his own moral code. Rosie just happens to fit inside of his moral code. Its likely because shes incredibly polite, doesnt talk about alastor behind his back, doesnt try to overthrow him, and assists him when he asks. Basically, if you are a respectable person and Alastor likes you, he will be your friend, and a GENUINE friend.
Just because he's a sociopath doesn't mean he's not capable of having feelings and friends but it just tends to be unlikely for sociopaths to development actual friendships where one isn't being used

He says in the finale that he’s fond of the hotel crew but we know he’d sacrifice them in a heart beat if it was beneficial for him. Rosie I’d imagine would be much the same. He gets on well with her and I do think they’re actually friends but if something were to befit him by getting rid of her then he would. His pawns are HIS pawns though. I don’t he’d ever take kindly to someone just taking them without him getting something out of it.
I think that might actually be a big thing in season 2 where something goes awry with Angel and his contract with Val because of Vox which has some sort of impact on Alastor that forces him to get involved or loose trust with Charlie and the hotel crew.

I think he does care for Rosie, similarly to mimzy, cause what I’ve noticed is even with Charlie & any character he uses for his own gain/ are beneath him, he with either blatantly or subtly insult them at some point, like when he points out Charlie being misguided or her daddy issues, but with mimzy and Rosie every description he gives of either, even after mimzy caused trouble for him was never negative, the worst he said to Rosie was that he knew rehabilitating wouldn’t be her style, we actually also see mimzy do a similar thing! When mimzy talks to alastor she calls him “tall dark and creepy” which in itself isn’t bad but we learn later that she did use him, it makes sense, she also shows how she is even able to manipulate alastor with whiskey and music into being docile and possibly more easy to manipulate. What I think may have been the case is he met Rosie like he did mimzy, when he was ALIVE, when he was essentially powerless other than his ability to kill people, because with Rosie’s style and the look of cannibal town, she most likely died in the 20’s or 30’s, she may have even killed along side him and ate the bodies with him, also he calls her “dangerous” which doesn’t make much sense unless she is actually stronger than him, because he seems to invalidate the power of anyone weaker than him and fear those more powerful or befriend them, like with zestial. Honestly i can see it going both ways. Rosie probably knows how powerful he is so she knows not to cross him but since he is also a canabil as well (if my knowledge is correct i dunno much since i just picked it up a week ago) she just works with him cause he can ensure if she wants a faction down she can convince al to do some work

Not only do i think he's friends with rosie, it seems like he's growing fonder of the group. Hes not close to many people, but the ones he is close to seem genuine. Plus, nothing can excuse the moment on the balcony thing. He would have nothing to gain from lying to niffty. And he had nothing to gain from mimzy, but they were very close until the end of ep 5. I doubt he has anything to gain from being close friends with rosie as apposed to acquaintances (think him and zestial)
