Like at the Overlords’ meeting when he says he’s sure they’ve all been wondering about him not being around for a bit, he - being a total narcissist - is genuinely concerned about the others’ reaction to his inexplicable departure.
@@thecollector4574Was thinking about this, and here’s my best guess. And “ace in the hole” is a Texas Hold ‘em term. In Hold ‘em, you have to make a hand out of 5 community cards, and two “hole” cards that only you get to use, and having an ace in the hole means you have a strong card at your disposal. To be honest? ...No. He was dodging Adam's attacks perfectly because "you're sloppy" and threw him around a bit, but as soon as Adam landed a solid hit, Alastor was done. I don't think Adam even got bloody until Lucifer joined the fight.
100% agree with you. He steals the spotlight every time he's on screen, and it's the main reason for me to watch this show, for as much as I love Angel, Niffty, and the rest of the characters.
Idk why, but at 8:45 is one of my favorite parts of the whole show. Him standing on the roof while a rock riff is building up to then say “Let the slaughter begin.” It’s just so cool!
It’s interesting that he didn’t want her soul. I mean, having someone as powerful as Lucifer’s daughter on your leash? That’s quite a power play, Lilith and Lucifer wouldn’t have messed with Alastor with him threatening to kill her. But, that’s not his style. Whatever Alastor has planned, will no doubt change Heaven and Hell both. Forever. Whatever chaos he brings about, I don’t think the strongest of Heaven or Hell could fix. Not with brute strength alone anyway. I get the feeling, he’s playing the long game. Lilith and Eve will make their moves, knock a few kings and Queens off the board. Whatever Alastor has cooking up, may just knock over the board and table all together.
@@garrettviewegh9028Asking for her soul would have been too much, way too easy for her to turn down which would then cast suspicion on any "haggled down" deals offered instead. By at least seeming like he wasn't interested in getting her soul, he doesn't immediately lay his cards on the table. Plus there is the possibility that whatever constraints he has and with whom restricts him from contracting any more souls to him or at least not Charlie's. But an interesting point is that Vox after Stayed Gone directly mentions Alastor being involved with Charlie is a massive threat and that they need to prevent him from making any deal with her, which was a nice bit of foreshadowing. And Alastor seems more than content as it is flexing how in-deep he is with Charlie as a mentor and even father figure to her. Even if just taking the piss from Lucifer, nothing he said in Hell's Greatest Dad was outright wrong or a lie, Charlie even seemed touched and wasn't put off either; if anything, Alastor knew that would make it sting for Lucifer even more especially with how absent and dismissive he was to Charlie and her plan, even calling her found family (as Alastor put it) "a bunch of losers." That said, fully agree with Alastor playing the long game. Even from the pilot and the subsequent months after learning about Carmilla killing an angel, he sat on that info nugget until episode 7 right at a rare Charlie emotional vulnerability moment, where he also dropped some serious mentor wisdom about his smiles and later letting her use his mic staff and taking serious interest in helping her foster her potential. And back to Stayed Gone, his "let's begin" clap back at Vox was specifically about ending the status quo...what better way to shake it up than with by far the most non-hellish entity of Charlie Morningstar in a leadership role successfully redeeming souls? She can literally shake the foundations and order of Heaven and Hell and all mortal lives - the board is set, and with that one deal, Alastor has an ace up his sleeve. He just has to wait now for the right hand and the right pot where an all-in gets him everything.
@@garrettviewegh9028I think I'm starting to pick up some pieces together. For starters, I remember the scene where Alastor is meeting Lucifer for the first time. How he instantly has the face of, "I have a goddamn bone to pick with you" the moment Lucifer is even near him. He taunts him and overly irritates him, even acting extremely close to Charlie just to get under his skin. You'd think it's because Alastor actually did feel threatened by him and his closeness with Charlie but this is Alastor we are talking about. Well, just saying that makes it sound like I know everything about him which I don't but based off his character, he's known for getting under people's nerves, retaliation, elements of surprise, and all and all, being a damn mystery. But anyway, I'm getting off track. My point with the Lucifer thingy is how Alastor seemed to immediately be irritated by his very existence. Then, you take a look at the scene where Alastor was with Husk and the very comment "Big talk for someone who's also on a leash" was enough to make all hell break loose and you could just tell how much that struck a nerve into Alastor. And the very final scene, where he's nearly desperate for freedom but the way he said "Nearly killed by a heir" made me just overthink like I usually do. I'm sorry, I'm ranting so damn much about a fictional character but what I'm getting at is that from what I've gathered, it kinda feels like Alastor somehow made a deal with an overlord that could've been just as powerful as Lucifer or someone in Heaven who's just as fucked as Adam. I know that second one isn't as likely since it made more sense how Lilith could do it since she was originally Eve and Alastor wouldn't have been as lucky to have such connections, but we've been shown that souls can get redeemed after all and you can make deals between Heaven and Hell but that's probably more out of pocket than I think but yeah. It's possible. Sorry if most of this didn't make any sense, I'm pretty damn sleep deprived.

I know poor Husker, he normally doesn't care about anything so seeing him so scared of Alastor makes you think what have he seen or what Alastor make him do in the past has Alastor tortured him before?
I might be reading to much into it, but does anyone else notice that all the instances of alastors uncharacteristic swearing happen whenever he is in a situation he cannot control with his power alone? The fuck you towards lucifer, who is leagues above him in power, calling susan a bitch (well, he would be syromg enough to slaughter everyone there, but it would completely fuck them over, so his hands are tied) the boasting when he faces off against adam, who while being unskilled in the use of his abilities still eclipses him in strength, the outburst when his staff gets broken?
I do agree with about 98% of that. Alastor saying he'd end Adam's "fucking life" was when he was still cocky about winning the fight, therefore he was not powerless or unable to control. I believe he did it as an intimidating factor, and a way to belittle Adam; if someone says "I'm going to end your life", it doesn't sound as dangerous, serious, or even as strong as saying "I'm going to end your fucking life". I personally think he did it to intimidate and belittle
Also notice how Alastor first says "One favor" but then when they shake on it he says "One favor *at a time* where you harm noone" Alastor pretty much owns her now with the exception that he cannot make her harm anyone intentionally.
It's interesting how most of the songs that involves alastor have the electro swing style , i like the detail 'cause they are consistent with the character in every way

I was originally going to include that scene but the video was already getting long at that point and it felt weird to include that much of Alastor's speech without just including their whole interaction to begin with, like I had some vendetta against Charlie and was specifically cutting when she talked 😂
The way he says "hevans nooo" when it came to charlies soul makes me think he never wanted her soul to begin with. Dude to have one of the most powerful beings in hell owe you a favor is already worth more than any mortal soul. Probably wants her to break his chains so he can be free and control his own fate

To be honest? ...No. He was dodging Adam's attacks perfectly because "you're sloppy" and threw him around a bit, but as soon as Adam landed a solid hit, Alastor was done. I don't think Adam even got bloody until Lucifer joined the fight.
Best character in Hazbin Hotel
100% agree with you. He steals the spotlight every time he's on screen, and it's the main reason for me to watch this show, for as much as I love Angel, Niffty, and the rest of the characters.

I had a dream that Alastor would be free from the leash and be redeemed by turning into butterflies like the Tim Burton movie “Corpse Bride”.
That would be interesting if it could happen in the future.

I had a dream where I was trapped in a video game

7:27 - Noticed Charlie picking up Vaggie's souvenir
Alastor’s “I’m about to end your fucking life” got me literally fucking scared, and lmao
Charlie and Alastor's deal, that will be some game breaking shit.
Even if just taking the piss from Lucifer, nothing he said in Hell's Greatest Dad was outright wrong or a lie, Charlie even seemed touched and wasn't put off either; if anything, Alastor knew that would make it sting for Lucifer even more especially with how absent and dismissive he was to Charlie and her plan, even calling her found family (as Alastor put it) "a bunch of losers."
That said, fully agree with Alastor playing the long game.
I mean...doesn't he get to pick anything else? You know he'll find something better.
@@garrettviewegh9028 The board and the table? My guy the whole house is gonna be flipped on it's head and be so abnormal that Godzilla himself wouldn't destroy it.
Anyone notice when Alistors staff broke and he said "what just happened, and f**k" he didn't have his radio voice, but a normal human one?
His voice's filter doesnt depend on his staff. He has it by purely wanting to keep it. His filter and transatlantic accent cut out because he genuinely got caught off guard by Adam in this moment and lost control over his demeanor

@@Justa_liamclipped Alastor might be around their level, but an unclipped Alastor far exceeds it. Plus I think Alastor is far more tricky when it comes to fighting compared to all the other overlords who are physically stronger
@@di11onm1nkgaming Camilla is clearly the most powerful, for example. She lead the overlord meeting, velvette tried to convince her to help her. I know poor Husker, he normally doesn't care about anything so seeing him so scared of Alastor makes you think what have he seen or what Alastor make him do in the past has Alastor tortured him before?
Watching Nifty just hop onto Alastor's shoulder was adorable
Ikr I love seeing alastor and nifty together
Alastor really slays with the "oh deer" cup
Omfg he DOES SLAY!! HE SLAYS THE DAY- THE HELL!!
I like how Alastor has to specify he's not taking someone's soul during a deal.
This man is a snarky, self centered rude powerful demon killer, and I love him.
That’s 300% true with Adam and Lucifer.
With Susan it was actually just comic relief.
Also notice how Alastor first says "One favor" but then when they shake on it he says "One favor *at a time* where you harm noone"
Alastor pretty much owns her now with the exception that he cannot make her harm anyone intentionally.
“Of my choosing”
@@Fire_bellied_Newt_Sorcerer of my choosing still involves not being able to choose favors where Charlie intentionally has to harm someone.

Epic compilation, should have included the smile keeping your enemies guessing speech
Haha, thanks, I'm glad you like it. I was originally going to include that scene but the video was already getting long at that point and it felt weird to include that much of Alastor's speech without just including their whole interaction to begin with, like I had some vendetta against Charlie and was specifically cutting when she talked 😂
@@shamtheskeleton1749Why do you have a vendetta against Charlie?
Alastor is so husband material. His little deer squeak when Rosie hugs him is adorable

That description is the most valid thing I've seen today
The way he says "hevans nooo" when it came to charlies soul makes me think he never wanted her soul to begin with. Dude to have one of the most powerful beings in hell owe you a favor is already worth more than any mortal soul. Probably wants her to break his chains so he can be free and control his own fate

The last two episodes cemented Alastor as my personal favorite.
I'm gonna hate when he's inevitably put down.
oh yeah no, i know. i am both excited for and absolutely dreading season 2 because while I am *ready* for antagonist Alastor, I am NOT ready to see him get absolutely demolished by plot armor and possibly end up getting erased. i am holding out for the hope that he somehow ends up becoming a softie as much as he hates it bc the alternative will surely break me.
@@shamtheskeleton1749 yeah, I'd like to think that Alastor wil plan to use the favor from Charlie to free him from the deal, but she'll do it before he gets the chance to tell her or smth and he'll (hopefully) change his ways. But it's just hopeful thinking 🤷🏽♂️
I don’t think it’s as wish casting as it feels. He did genuinely start to care for the gang and the show is about redemption- I just hope they do the character arch well. I do think he’s going to be redeemed in some way, I just don’t think it’s gonna end up with him in heaven. I think it’ll be smaller and less….obviously “good” - I’m guessing it’ll be him having to choose between power and connection to folks and finally choosing relationships instead
@@sonorasgirlOh, he's never gonna choose to go to Heaven. He'll stay in Hell with his little ragtag group of "Hazbins" and play it off as "but whatever WOULD you do without me?"
I like the detail in the beginning, that it makes the camera glitch whenever Alastor is partly visible.
Angel: I swear, if you film me going at it with Mr. Fancy Talk Creepy voice here, you'd be rolling in participants willing to stay at this tacky hotel.
Alastor: Ha ha ha! Never going to happen.
My ears work perfectly fine.
Kinda funny how Alestor replied to that. 💀
The way the screen glitches when Alastor’s hand goes in the cameras perspective, it just supports the quote “This face was made for radio.”
“Just cause you see a smile, don’t think you know what’s going on underneath! A smile is a valuable tool my dear, it inspires your friends, keeps enemies guessing and insures that no matter what comes your way, YOU’RE THE ONE in CONTROL!” The most bone chilling line in the show
3:39 Lucifer’s comment still makes me chuckle
Since Alastor is the main reason I started watching Hazbin Hotel in the first place, I 100% agree with the title of this video.
