  • NICE original Cadillac. Never repainted, never reupholstered, totally original car. So NICE to see cars like this are still out there! Yes, this will look fantastic after we get it all cleaned up. NO we will not paint or cause any of the originality to be disturbed with the cleaning. After I give it a good safety inspection, I'll do a road test video! Thanks For Watching!

    These cars may still be out there but you got extremely lucky Sir. Like hitting the lottery. The only imperfection I can see is the driver door does not line up and the paint is new on this door. Great find!

    Nice nice nice. Cars such as this don't need modifications for the sake of modernism as this has all the goodies anyone really needs. So many are ruined every year. Thank goodness this one's preserved.

    My father had the exact model in the 1960's. Down to the colors. We loved opening the tailight at the gas station.

    Beautiful example. I'm impressed by the condition of the driver's side seat back. My 1956 Coupe de Ville has a worn brocade seat back (midnight blue exterior, powder blue leather over brocade with silver threads interior) the metallic threads in the brocade were a design error, IMHO, though they do make for an elegant presentation. Also, a correction: there was only ONE air conditioner offered in that model. The CONTROLS are on the front lower dash, below the glove compartment and the dual-blower refrigeration unit occupied the area over the axe tunnel in the trunk. The single compressor was on the right side of the engine, opposite the power steering and power brake units and next to the fuel pump. I recall both a/c outlets on the rear hat deck were aimed such that the cold air converged on a center front passenger's head (I rode in the middle as an older kid. My car was a factory executive sale to my uncle, sold to my grandparents later and given to my Dad when my Grandfather died. It was used on the farm after an overhaul, then it was given to me. I have yet to restore it, but at least it is running and street legal, still carrying so many memories for me.

    For me it is a great color, dirty greenish yellow. For my point of view, the panel and clusters are the perfection in design, normal good. I say this due the next 1959 1960 panel will be a Picasso picture, excess of design, insane tail lights and body shape, etcétera. 1956 Cadillac, Chrysler 300, Lincoln Continental have a good taste in common, I would say with feet on the ground.
    As you can see, I know a lot about American cars 😋
    Congrats, maaaan.

    As always loved the video very informative. Word to the wise never confuse a 55 with a 56. In the way back I had an elderly gentlemen give me hell for making that mistake on his at a classic car show. 😆

    Just a beautiful example of what is still out there, love the originality of this car!! You can just notice this car has never been apart and then put back together, all the gaskets and details are there. Just great! Too bad you won't find these kind of cars in europe.

      Oh and forgot to mention did cadillac really still offered to service those cars back in 1999! And do you happen to know if they still do?

      Haha finally your video confirmed what i thought after all, I have a 56 cadillac 2 door series 62 and it had a restoration that did 95% of the work but the detailing is up to me. And i have been asking myself for a month or 3 if the car originally had 1 or 2 speakers. I thought it had two and the shop manual kinda confirms it but a guy who trades and restores these cars told me i was wrong and it used to have 1 speaker. And i wasn't able to find it anywhere on the internet but now i was looking close at your footage from the trunk and i saw the silver coil from the speaker. So There used to be a second 1 in the trunk, defenitely going to have chat with the guy who told my i was wrong😝

  • @lorenjohnson7488
    @lorenjohnson7488 5 років тому +1

    The air conditioning unit in the trunk is not the rear air it does blow air back there but without the unit in the trunk there is no air conditioning that's how they built them back then it has just plain air conditioning

    Sweet looking Cadillac! Beautiful condition. I like original survivors, unrestored, unmolested. I see nothing wrong with patina, as long as it doesn't penetrate into the passenger cabin, the engine compartment, or the trunk. :)

    What do we see on the end of the door? I see what I think is the door latch. Then above it, looks like a horizontal slot with something protruding from it.

    Cadillac for 1956...what can you say...a/c front and rear...and power windows...You had arrived if you could spring for a Caddy...

      It's really just rear A/C. Front A/C wouldn't become available for another two years.

    What I'd loke to know is how does the top of the radiator tank always gets so dented up?

    • @rodneyracer

      Mechanics lean on them.. Also place a KNEE on then when reaching to the back of engine! Poor performance from those that do it!

    Did refrigerant lines from under the hood serve the rear air conditioner?

    • @rodneyracer
      @rodneyracer  7 років тому +1

      Yes, Copper tubes connect to the A/C unit in trunk.

    • @lorenjohnson7488
      @lorenjohnson7488 5 років тому +1

      The air conditioning unit in the car is all one unit, it is a complicated system. The car does not have separate rear and separate front air conditioning it is all one unit. However you do get air in the back of the car but it is still just one unit

    • @rodneyracer

      Common bumper jack. The jack you see was much more stable.
