This is still, to this day, one of my favorites!
The original “Dwayne” from What’s Happening.
" your under arrest for being ugly " 🤣🤣🤣
before MENACE TO SOCIETY ….. before BOYZ N THE HOOD, before JUICE …….. there was a movie called - COOLEY HIGH …...
Yes that’s the truth
before Friday
exactly. I always said cooley high was the prototype for all these movies.Even House Party. With tweaking here and there. And you are right put Friday in there too
This was the black version of American Graffiti.
💯
Pooter was such an unsung, relatable and iconic character
Yes
Cooley High will always be my favorite movie. I’ve watched over n over, never gets old, I really enjoy watching it. A Great Movie! ❤love all the actors 🙏🏽 God bless all the actors n all who made the movie.🏀🎬🎼📽️🦍🍿🪦
Thanks for watching. Great movie
When he starts eating that girl’s potato chips is hilarious😄
lol...
Hey, glad to see "Pooter" is still alive and well. Cooley High will play on forever! My favorite movie by far. Those house parties during the 60's and 70's were the best. You can't enjoy times like that now without guns blasting if you step on someone's foot.
WELL, it was still fighting and black on black crime in those days regardless
Agreed! For the most part, you were able to talk about it the next day! Also, you and the person you fought were friends again by the next day if not by the end of the week. Grow up, then laugh about it as adults! Unfortunately, most of today's generation have and will not have a clue about this innocence
@@ironmike-putsallkindavideo7840
Nowhere close to today especially in Chicago.
Pay parties!
@@ironmike-putsallkindavideo7840 what do Black On Black crime have to do with the brother speaking on fighting back then and shooting now. . Do you mention Asian on Asian or Caucasian on Caucasian crime
He seems really nice and down to earth!
Yes, in 2021, it's still a tear jerker.
I was born in 92, but I was put onto this movie @ an early age. This is 1 of my favorite movies till this day, & I have a DVD of it. I've always wondered what all of the actors were up to nowadays. This movie will forever be a classic in my eyes!
Rogers was GREAT as Pooter
It’s amazing how they all aged so well.
Looovvveee Cooley high. Every urban neighborhood in any city could identify. We were living or, have lived cooley high experiences...
Cheryl King that’s true. Some movies made over the years has followed the Cooley high story line.
Cooley High is Chicago. That's exactly how it was in Chicago back in the day. People from Chicago who grew up there in the 60's & 70's can really relate to this movie.
Pooter is my favorite character in this film he was so goofy/nerdy. This film is an accurate representation of teen-agers in black culture. 💕
pooter was the one that out of them all I'd picked cochise was too big headed for me lol a player id stayed away from him preach maybe but he was to into the streets didnt like that but glad he made a way after all that Tyrone nope was one of the characters who id loved a backstory on as well as the bad boys in the movie till this day my mom thinks the movie was about a dusable high school basket ball player forgot his name but he was like cochise
Are you or have you ever been a black teenager?
Every group of friends had a "Pooter" lol
This is definitely a universal classic...
One of my very very favorite movies ever ! ❤️
Man do I remember those days when the Deciples and Vice Lords would break out fighting in the theaters which we called the "show" back then in Chicago. I'm South side raised in the 60's. But the 70's were the best times of my life😉
Annie I’m glad you like the video
Ha. We still call it the “show” in 2020. That’s how you know someone is from the Midwest.
shoo you I remember when the parties were a dollar to get in and they would get into fights by the time i turned 17 I was done with all that lol nice to look back on just realize cooley high came out the year I was born geez lol
@@sassyd8738 fights and not many shootings...
Pooter was my favorite character in the film..because he was like me..awkward.. Bit of a square... I.would have danced with Poorer..❤😊😊❤❤
Thanks for checking
I was Pooter too back in grammar/high school.
One thing I found so endearing was that the older cats let Pooter hang with them. He was part of the crew, their little brother. That's how it is with a lot of cats. This young cat wants to be down and you let him, but sometimes you have to tell him he's to young to go with you this time.
Good to know that this brother is well.Cooley High 4ever.I actually lived this film in very similar fashion
mhm the fights the men cheating on women deaths of people so real is why the movie is loved
He was a cute kid
He's still cute. Coolie High is a classic❣️
I just wanted to hug Pooter when he was crying in the car.🥺
💋 Cooley High was🔥🔥🔥 and still is everything to me still to this day. The whole cast was awesome. Thank you 👏🏾I am a 60's baby 🥰
I could tell he was the youngest but at first I was like why they keep leaving him out of certain stuff lol. But great movie
I am so honored to have viewed this great movie and to Finally Know How "Pooter" is and he is doing great. God bless.
This is right on! Glad to be updated on him
One of my favorite movies I'm from the Chi south side everything in this movie is the way life was. Will never get tired of seeing Cooley High. Looking Good Pooter
Definitely in my top 5 movie favorites! The soundtrack played a major role in the greatness of the film 💯
This is such a great find! Love catching up with the cast especially those we don't see often. I felt so bad for Pooter. Lol
So did I. He was always getting bullied for no reason.
@@tyvillianheartthrob1856 He wasn't bullied he was just a target of ridicule. Also, the ladies wasn't feeling him
I still have the "Cooley High" movie on DVD!!! 😁👍🏾
We are related....my mom's sister...my Aunt Buina married into the Rogers Clan.....
This Movie brings back such good memories to me as when I was a kid,I was "Pooter "with the older cats that I hung around I really do missed those days
He’s so right. The problems were there but they’re not half as bad as they are now 50 years later. The 70s were so easy breezy and laidback. Things weren’t perfect but the quality of life was better.
They are all my favorite in different ways...
-Cooshie is the player, he had like 5 different girls in this movie 😂
-Preach was the one that was into the streets too much and trying to fit in 🥴
-Pooter was the one that was just trying to get a girlfriend and he is the nerdy/cringe one trying to hang with the big boys 😆
-Tyrone was just living his best life & worrying about his girlfriend 🤣 everytime I saw him he was with his girl, lol
Much respect to director Michael Shultz!🙏🏿💪🏿✊🏿✊🏿
Dang it says 2019 was 4 years Ago life is changing yall
Haywood Nelson basically played him on "What's Happening". They are both still so cute.
One of my fave movies ever since I first seen it.I have the dvd now. O wow man dig,he eat just like Pooters daddy.
You're under arrest for being ugly.
The girl he asked to dance with a fool I'd danced with him not everybody was starstruck over cochise cute self lol
He was my fave 😍
Hey there Pooter philadelphia loves you
We definitely do!!
Always thought that was hamburger meat. What a great movie tho. 10 thumbs up. Peace
Thank you for checking
Man that was some bad stuff Stone & Robert had..... well it’s about time .... classic 👍
Pooter would you get the Hell off the break front my mama said not to lean on the break front cause she ain’t paying for it yet. 😂😂😂😂
@@muncherclay8760 you're under arrest for being ugly
@@leecosey7003 🤣🤣🤣🤣
i went to see Cooley 21 times wen i was 14
@@adriennebraxton-oq9iu wow
You were awesome 👌 in #COOLEYHIGH
I never realized the part of Dwayne (hey-,hey-hey) on What's Happening, may have been written with Pooter in mind, but I can definitely see it, now.
They need a reunion quick..I mean with all of them. RIP Norman (Robert) Gibson & Maurice (Willie) Havis
Garwin Wayne that’s true and heard Damon died to.
@@wittysmitty100s Damon? Didn't know that. I heard Tyrone was a minister. Dorothy supposedly lives outside of the ATL. Don't know about the other women... Sandra or Beverly.
Garwin Wayne I interviewed Tyrone but the audio didn’t come out right. Yes he is a pastor and you can look up the interview on Facebook. Look up N’Digo Eye On Chi Joesph Williams Tyrone Cooley High.
Who else noticed Robert Townsend in this movie?
A lot of people
He aint lying. I remember when I was made to watch cooley high. LOL Glad that happened though!
That music is A-MAZ-ING !
All of the vids music are Great !
Wish I could get a copy. I’d listen to it all day.
I’m a D.J. ! 🎧
Thanks for checking bro. Man I love the love. The music I would have to check to see who it was to be honest.
@@wittysmitty100s
I hear ya. If you do find out, drop Me a line. Like I said, I’m a D.J. here in Chicago. I was born in ‘69. So there is NO DOUBT Cooley High is ingrained in my life. I’ve even sang
It’s so hard to say good bye.....
at quite a few funerals.
( Sorry.... Nostalgia took over. )
Pooter is one my favorite characters.
Thanks for watching
Pooters here and ready to jam!
Im watching it now.
@@marcellusbearden9943 me too
I love Pooter so much
For years I thought he was Haywood Nelson from What's Happening.
Thanks for checking
My childhood was just like this movie I grew up around my 6 aunts and 4 uncles so I can relate I remember when my grandmother went to cabarets my aunts would have waistline parties I would be watching kiss 😘 and grind turn light switch on and off like a disco ball the punch 🥣 bowel they would use 😂 lol and we had a store just like that store on the corner of our house where all the teenagers would hangout and 🕺 💃 dance with the jukebox getting 🍔 burgers and fries just like that store we loved it was called Sloppy Joe's even the inside was the same happening at our story everybody says that too inmy old neighborhood glad to see your doing good contiuestaying blessed my uncle even had a bike he wished he kept till this day it rode 5 or 6 people it was so embarrassing I thought. Those wee the best times of our lives we didn't even realize it then compared to how life is now. Especially the summers playing in the water hydrants and double dutch.
He seems to understand the business really well and chose to use it for other opportunities ...
ccth22 that’s true
🎥 Best movie ever!!!!!!
He's only eighteen and had a son when he played a fourteen year old boy. I saw him on Chicago live couple of weeks ago.
What’s Chicago live?
@@wittysmitty100s i guess it's on wgn- tv they come on about five or six in the afternoon. I don't care much about watch gossip so called shows. .
Chicago live comes on wls-tv channel 7 five or six I'm the afternoon
I saw the 40th anniversary of Cooley and pooter spoke through his heart
Was pooter the kid that always got bad luck in the movie?
POOTER!! WHAT'S UP MAN!!!
I couldn't Figure-out why, in the Movie, Pooter was treated like an excluded little brother, BUT they were all in the same Classroom, when Coochies Character faked Pooter's Bloody Nose ❓ Did Pooty get a Double Promotion or did his friends remain a grade back ❓
Dynamite 🧨!!!! 😐
YO!! Check out the pic @ 6:53!
Some of the actors i recognize: Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs (top center) and Cynthia Davis (near top, left).
Nice!
Don’t lean on the break front!
My mama said don't lean on the break front...she ain't paid for it yet!😂
It's so good to see Pooter! I was wondering what happened to him.
He’s doing good
😎
He looks the same just older
🤷Damn Pooter you talked better in the movie. Yes you were 14 but You wasn't that much younger then them you 61 yrs Chochis 66 yrs as of today 10/22/2019
exactly him getting in that stolen car and getting caught up with the consequences would have made that movie sadder
Preach was 27 in the movie. I'm sure stone was too
he looks good look well younger than his age and handsome at that
What about Tyrone and Damon and stone and Robert
I’ve interviewed Stone already. You can watch part 2 on this channel and part 1 on another channel. Tyrone’s audio didn’t come out right. So I took the video down on you tube. But it’s still up on Facebook. Just type I. Joseph Wilson Aka Tyrone from Cooley High and you’ll find it there.
Damon pasted years ago.
Norman Gibson who played Robert died from a gunshot after getting robbed a year after the film.
Too bad his career didn't last.
1:37 is where he fucked up 👀🤮
