God the raw emotion from Nicole... It truly shows how the community is one. She had an emotional attachment to Dan, true personal and professionalism wrapped in one. I wanted to cry with her. One of those moments where you just went to hug someone.
RIP Danny Wheldon. You were always my guy every year I went to the Indy 500. Every single 500 I ever attended I wanted Dan to win it all. A true Motorsports legend.
She used to date him. She knew him more than anyone else on this coverage, so of course she felt this more. Everyone doesn’t have to be crying and/or on the verge of tears to show compassion.
Its been almost a decade, but this guy more than Mansell, or Clark or anyone, turned me onto US racing. And damn I miss him. Sometimes I regret staying up late to watch that race. Witnessing the biggest of 'big ones' but I don't regret for one moment Dan's joy for life. Call it CART, call it IRL, call it Indycar, whatever. it may not have as much money than F1, but it has always had more fun. Dan captured that fact more than any other in my opinion. Yeah, I never slept that night, yeah It broke my heart, just like the presenter in this video, but damn did it make me a commited Indycar fan. Neither F1 or NASCAR can replicate the sheer audacity of Indycar at top speed. They are the real gladiators and for FUCK SAKE they deserve more fans. I'm British but give me the choice of watching a race, I'd pick Indycar every single day.
Sick irony that Talladega was the first NASCAR event after Wheldon's death......On another note, yeah, it's more personal for Nicole in a grander way since she's married to an open-wheel driver.
Happy birthday Dan we miss you so much still :)) I was so blessed to watch you when I was little some of my earliest memories in life was watching you go toe to toe with some of my other hero’s
That why racing is the answer to all of our problem, but then we saw racing invented new problems, real devastating problems, The tragic and then Weldon a.k.a. Lionheart showed us why, he was the perfect balance between us and racing, he taught us that life needs a balance, racing can improve our lives but so can people, if we focus on one expense of the other that’s when the balance is lost, the racing world will find it’s way again, this time with Dan Weldon as our compass

God Nicole Briscoe broke my heart watching this...that’s a hurt and pain you can’t fake
@@ic3man not only that but she had previously dated Wheldon.

Ah I just want to hug Nicole, and tell her great job for that raw and real tribute. Man. Rest easy Dan Wheldon.
Hola
@@rpleitez1717 this isn’t a good time…
Nicole Briscoe was the only one with compassion. 10 years later and it still breaks my heart to listen to her
Broke my heart hearing her…or anyone hurt so much

Gotta realize that most of the announce team are former drivers and drive crew, so they are used to this happening.
Wrong sir they are drivers i guarantee you they where crushed just because not crying doesn't mean not hurting
Her husband Ryan Briscoe was one of 19 cars that wasn't involved in that destructive 15 car crash.

Thank you for the tribute to my friend. We still miss you Danny…
Thanks, NASCAR. From a Briton.

The difference is a journalist vs race car drivers. I feel for her, but you get in the car or you don’t. Fucking love Dan. RIP man.
Man, I was 2 back then. Watching this now is hard, especially when Nicole sobs in the background. I wish I could've hugged her!
Sick irony that Talladega was the first NASCAR event after Wheldon's death......On another note, yeah, it's more personal for Nicole in a grander way since she's married to an open-wheel driver.
And it was also pretty sad for NASCAR drivers that have raced open wheeled race cars like Tony Stewart and Robby Gordon
i started crying after watching this, you can tell how shaken up Nicole was. Rest in Peace Dan.
4 years later and this is still sad
Amazing tribute to Dan.You will be missed we will never forget you, thanks for the memories 🙏

Why is dale jarret smiling about I though???
I think it’s just he has been oddly accustomed too it same with Wallace. People forget deaths were almost a norm in nascar for a while.
@@brianwells5123 I mean, Wallace lost his best friend in the 2001 500...
Why is NASCAR honoring someone from Indycar, that's supposed to be there rival
it's called Respect....when someone dies in a race car the entire racing community SHOULD come together and support one another
@@iDarksideGG Yeah like what the hell dude. They are motorsports in the same country and why can't they respect each other?
