Thanks for the video - it helped us know what to expect. We just did this exact loop today, and man... Such a rugged climb up and down that ridge. And so interesting to see the millions of years on display, to see the red walls tower behind us on the spur trail, and to see them dwarfed from the overlook. Beautiful place.
Dude. I was thinking ‘wow, a lot of work getting the shots on the intro’ and I realized I was 3 1/2 minutes in. Really engaging, man. I also had to show Tina the buffalo/sign/scratching shot. Hilarious.
Thanks man! That was my goal...it was a unique and fun trip and I did my best to capture it. It’s a little bit different from my typical format but I think I’m ok with it! And those bison are funny man....sometimes they are docile and funny and then other times they act like they want to kill you. When I went last year they had chased a hiker out of the canyon I was in on the day before. I rounded the corner and found myself alone with 13 of them with a charging alpha male...it was fun!
Great video and storytelling! I liked the series of shots of the water in Fern Cave. Not sure I would’ve been brave enough to get that close to the Bison, not even for water heh-heh Ps, love my Subaru!
Haha, thanks man! Yeah I’ve tried to shoot my trips with more intent to tell the story...I’m still learning! And yeah those Bison are unpredictable. They were pretty chilled on this trip but they were aggressive on the trip I did last year. I’m glad my friend got spooked because his reaction scattered all of them so we could get some water!
@@TheNotLostNomad Lol, yeah the bisons’ reaction worked in y’all’s favor! I hear you on the storytelling part, I’m still trying to figure out the way I want to tell a story in video. But that’s half the fun on YT :)
Excellent video! Dig your editing style. I live in the PNW but my friend in Fort Worth suggested we do this trip when I come to visit in late September, and I'm sold after watching this vid.
Man, the bacon grease in those pancakes should have lubricated your joint nicely for the climbs in the canyon. Hahaha The slot was really cool and I like seeing the striations of gypsum. You got some really nice shots at Fern Cave also. Looks like y'all had fun and that always makes for a great video. ✌
Thanks man! Oh man those pancakes were on another level...kept us full for most of the day. I was glad to get some decent shots at fern cave...it was actually very crowded when we were there. And that slot was really cool...we just stumbled upon it... I kind Of wished we’d kept following it to see where it went. I really like Caprocks...it’s such a simple easy going trip...it’s hard not to have a good time out there. Hopefully I’ll see all of you guys at the meetup next year!
Man! Connor really took a seat! I’ve never been to caprock. But I have been to Paulo Duro. This looks awesome! Why do you walk like that back to the camera? Great video as always
Thanks man. Yeah that dude had a heavy seat...he hated that chair by the end of the trip. You would love Caprock Canyons...it’s one of my favorites now. And btw, there is just no way to look dignified when you are walking 100 yards back to you camera...just no way!
Sweet man. Looks like yall had a much winder time than we did. I have been to the park before with high winds. It can get nuts out there! Did you get a new tent? I bet you had it staked down for this trip. Good editing. Your video flow was great.
Thanks man! yep, new tent for this one...and the stakes sure did come in handy! My guy lines wouldn't even stay down the wind was so strong. It was still a fun trip though!
Cool video! I love the background music. Is there any hike between the parking lot to South Prong Camping site? Look like the camping site is right next to the parking lot
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! And yes…there is car camping directly at the trailhead…and a great trail that leads just over a mile to the South Prong backcountry sites. It’s beautiful out there!
Question about the primitive sites out there… What do you do for food storage? Didn’t look like there was anywhere to hang it higher then a foot or so off the ground, but I’d imagine rodents could still be an issue out there. Great video by the way!
Hey thank you! I love the hiking out there. So for food I just hung it up as high as I could on a limb... both trips I've done out there I never had any issues.
Nice!!! Caprock Canyon it's on my list.
You’ll love it there! It’s such an underrated park...so pretty out there!

So glad you enjoyed it! Caprocks is a highly underrated park…it’s become one of my favorites. So glad you got to experience it!
SO. MUCH. FUN.
You are much more interesting than I am...I need you on all my trips!

Totally tubular, like the western theme tunes ably done.
Thank you! I tried my best to match the mood! Glad it worked!

Hey thank you! So glad you enjoyed it! Caprocks is a gem in Texas and most people have never even heard of it!

Ramen and mash potatoes is my favorite backpacking food.. that pad Thai chicken is good too..
Yes it is! Pad Thai for the win. The Ramen bomb was good…not sure if I could stomach that many carbs at one time. I think I would be miserable
@@TheNotLostNomad we were doing 5-7miles a day with 50lb packs. I was sleeping like a baby lol
