I've got a 2005 RAV4 and I'd never had a problem with the TPMS light. I recently took it in for a routine tire rotation and afterwards, the light kept coming on. I made sure the tires were at the proper pressure and I'd reset the light and it would just keep coming back on shortly thereafter. I took it back to the mechanic and they told me that the TPMS is a dealer-serviceable item. The last time I got a service quote from my dealer, it was $2,100 to replace the entire exhaust system due to a tiny crack just before the muffler. I got a local muffler shop to fix it for just $70. Because of this, I was really nervous about taking it in to the dealer. I found this video, and I checked a couple other videos and external sites to get corroboration on what it proposed that I do. I rechecked my tires, held down the button to trigger the reinitialization, drove the circumference of my town's beltway which takes about an hour, and the light has stayed off since. This video probably just saved me untold hundreds of dollars. Thanks so much!

Unfortunatley, the system you have has batteries in each wheel which WILL eventually fail. There are other systems that do not use batteries. Yes the cost is outrageous! A lot of people simply cannot afford this kind of stuff when it fails. You don't have to replace the batteries if you don't mind the warning light being on. @@proclaimliberty2000 Yes I watched the whole video. I think I know the reason why my light won't reset is because one of my TPMS sensors is malfunctioning. This is causing the light to flash for 1 minute, then it stays solid lit.
Ray S if you have a direct tire pressure monitoring system then the batteries need to be replaced approximately every 10 years or it will cause a flashing tire pressure light
That video doesn't say what the harm is if I ignore the "idiot light" on the dashboard and just use a pressure gauge to manually check the actual tire pressure. In fact, at the end it says not to trust the light anyway and check it yourself. There are also pressure sensors that mount onto the valve stems, but those are not mentioned in that video. I am sure that it depends on the make, model, and year of car. With a Mercedes, it probably is tied into GPS and will only allow you to drive to the nearest Mercedes dealer if the tire pressure light is on. LOL.

These systems were installed partly because of pressure from the federal "safety" police. Perhaps the same "regulators" can consider making it a "safety" recall. I took our 2010 Toy into the dealer for a airbag check. They checked the tire light and said 3 of 4 sensors weren't working. The total cost PER WHEEL was on the order of $125.
Just check your tire pressure regularly like people use to do. These other videos might help.

Check your owners manual.
Thank you so much for this video! God bless you also
What do I do if I can't reset the light? I pressed and held down the button with my Prius in the "on" position for over 60 seconds and the light still won't turn off.
Did you watch the entire video and if so did you perform the re-initializing part?
@@proclaimliberty2000 Yes I watched the whole video. I think I know the reason why my light won't reset is because one of my TPMS sensors is malfunctioning. This is causing the light to flash for 1 minute, then it stays solid lit.
Ray S if you have a direct tire pressure monitoring system then the batteries need to be replaced approximately every 10 years or it will cause a flashing tire pressure light
@@proclaimliberty2000 Oh really? Thanks! I'll have to look this up. I have a 2010 Prius so its about time for battery replacements.
Ray S 👍😊
Where can i find it in hond pilot
I CANT FIND ANY RESET BUTTON ON MY 2017 CAMRY LE
The reset button procedure will be found in the owners manual
Why not just leave the light on? Does it affect anything?
Yes. ua-cam.com/video/6qseEL_3Y04/v-deo.html
LOL.
My light wont go off. I have a 2010 matrix.

What button?
On 2009 Rav4, there is no button in the location you indicated.
Unfortunatley, things are constantley changing. The Owner's Manual that came with the vehicle should give you this information.
