nah its just the youtube algorithm seems to like hogans heroes right now, im seeing a lot of recent comments on all the videos im watching, and I myself am on a hogan's heroes binge
I always loved major Hchstetter yelling....its just so funny . Before Jerry Stiller in Seinfeld and king of queens yelling....there was major Hochstetter in Hogan heroes....so funny.
When Hochstetter hands Klink the paperwork and Klink hands it over to Hogan, I always wanted for Hogan to open, stare at it and say, "I cant read German"
I now have a favorite UA-cam video of all time. I always loved yhe show and all. But the combination of all the times he said that is awesome. The temper range fluctuations make it hilarious to me. The Maj gets an A+
Crack me up, again... Interesting note: Robert Clary (LeBeau), was in a Nazi concentration camp as a kid. He has the numbered tattoo on his arm. Must've been weird for him to do Hogan's Heroes.
@@wh4193 - I'm sure it was quite different. After all it IS a TV show, a job. I was never suggesting he maybe would've not done the show for that reason. Only the weird irony of happening to do a show about the particular subject matter.
He worked on a show based in a POW camp, not a death camp. There's a day and night difference between the two. POW camps were administered by the Luftwaffe, and for the most part, observed the Geneva Convention. The Death Camps were administered by the SS and were Hell on earth.
Quite a few actors in the show escaped from Germany during the War. I find it strangely ironic that they'd play the parts of German Officers/POW prisoners, given their personal experiences from such tyranny back then....
Hochstetter was the only member of the entire German military that knew what Hogan was doing, but he just couldn't prove it. In the end it was always the same thing "how do I explain this to Berlin?"
Two flaws in the series is that Hochstetter’s insignia of rank shows him to be a full colonel and not a major. Also, the SS, which included the Gestapo, stopped wearing the black uniform and armband and switched to the field gray uniform of the Waffen SS in 1941, so he’d be wearing gray.
Interesting facts about Howard Caine (mentioned on other videos or his IMDB and Wiki bios)--- 1. Like Werner Klemperer and John Banner, though he played German Nazi, Howard was Jewish. 2. He had a small part, just a few years earlier as the husband of Judy Garland in "Judgment at Nuremburg". 3. He was from Tennessee and an expert banjo player.
1. I thought thought the gag was centered on him being annoyed w/ Hogan being in the office 2. I don’t the think the flow of the episodes was meant to be fixed to different parts of the war. There is some evidence suggesting the writers jumped around. Ie. season 1 episode 28 vs season 3 episode 3. Also, some episodes don’t really have anything to suggest a specific time frame for when they could’ve happened. Sometimes the dialogue holds a clue or two. Sometimes it doesn’t tell you anything
In actuality, while the actor is the same, he's been playing a different character every time he was on the show until he became Major Hochstetter, who became a permanent recurring character. The first appearance of Major Hochstetter is the last time he asks "WHO IS THIS MAN?!"
The gestapo was not a part of the army, hence Hochstetter could holler at a general. One flaw throughout the series is that Hochstetter’s rank insignia is of an SS full colonel, not a major.
Fantastic compilation. Thank you. This is one those shows that really stands the text of time. Interesting fact: all of the Nazis in this show were Jewish (Klink, Schultz, Gen. Burkhalter and Maj Hochstetter).
This video went from having about 20 likes to having nearly 100 likes within a few days. Is this posted somewhere else? That’s quite a bounce.
nah its just the youtube algorithm seems to like hogans heroes right now, im seeing a lot of recent comments on all the videos im watching, and I myself am on a hogan's heroes binge
I think Major Hochstetter suffered from partial memory loss. He never recognized Hogan when he came back to the camp and that's why he always asked^^
I would low key love that.
Probably all the blood pressure preventing his brain from recording new memories
Given ge does it around Hogan, maybe he’s faking it so he can get acquitted
EVERYBODY UNDER ARREEEEEEST
I always loved major Hchstetter yelling....its just so funny . Before Jerry Stiller in Seinfeld and king of queens yelling....there was major Hochstetter in Hogan heroes....so funny.
Hochstetter was a perfectly calm man before he met Klink
😂😂
As he once said about Klink, "Every year that man lives takes another century off the 1000 year reich."
The UA-cam algorithm has once again blessed me with a video that I did not know I needed but in fact did.
Needs more "BAH!"
BAH!
Thanks for this compilation! Howard Caine was a great actor! 🧑🏻✈️🎭
2:11 John Banner trying not to laugh. Priceless.
"I vill surrrround zis camp vith a rring of shteel!!"

Anyone within a hundred yards of this rocket will be shot! AND RESHOT!!!
Very talented actor and musician.
I just love how Colonel. Hogan just randomly says "Hi there" just to provoke Major Hochstetter @1:59-2:01
He added a great deal to a wonderful wartime comedy series.
I love the low grumble versions. Of course the screaming version are funny too, so I guess I like all of them.
“Isn’t this man ever locked up?”
Hogan...the most dangerous man in all of Germany!
I love that episode and clip.
Today I just received the entire Hogan’s Heroes series on DVD. I can’t wait to watch it!
Where?
You missed the episode where he shot the petrol tank and blew up the car. My favorite Hochstetter moment!
I don’t recall him saying either line in that episode?
This isn't just a compilation of best Hochstetter moments, it's specifically a compilation of his catchphrase.
When Hochstetter hands Klink the paperwork and Klink hands it over to Hogan, I always wanted for Hogan to open, stare at it and say, "I cant read German"

morlockmeat You know if it was possible I think Major Hochstetter would even try to arrest himself.
He's done interviews and said it was different. And he's an actor! Is he going to not do the show that pays him every week?

You know, I'm so glad you returned to doing these videos again.
This compilation introduced me to this show over a year ago and now it’s one of my favorites
He is one of my favorite people in this show.
ALL HEADS WILL ROLL! Whether you are guilty or not!
"I am with the Gestapo, what do we know about the law?"...or something like that(lol).
We never shoot innocents, that would be against the regulations!
I will surround this camp with a ring of steel!
I love this show, thanks for these clips.
Hochstetter was the only member of the entire German military that knew what Hogan was doing, but he just couldn't prove it. In the end it was always the same thing "how do I explain this to Berlin?"
I love how Hochstetter treats every Hogan meeting like its his first time. Its the BEST. Not to mention my Fiance can do his "EHHHH" perfectly.
Quick question WHAT IS THIS MAN DOING HERE
You’re shouting again, someone’s gonna call the cops!
OH SO HILARIOUS. There needs to be a movie of Hogan's Heroes. Major Hochstetter has to be the villan. Lol
Christoph Waltz would be an excellent Hochstetter in an all-star remake!
My favorite line of any SITCOM. I've used it myself on certain "occasions".
For punishing?
Love this Show. RIP. To them all.
Major Hochstetter is my favorite side cast character.
He's Always so Funny when he Loses his Temper.
Perfectly cast for that part, he made the character who he was.
Bloody marvelous 😅 these snippets are hilarious 😂
The just barely contained rage. Whay an actor
Hochstetter was always a jolly joker
I love this ongoing joke!
1:07 I WANT THAT MAN IN HERE!!!
Just saw Howard Caine in an episode of "Lawman".
Googled "what is this man doing here" and found this.
Hilarious!😂
"everybody under arrest!"
DIG! DIG! STOP DIGGING!
My favourite!
For the sake of accuracy, the third clip is Howard Caine playing Colonel Feldcamp, NOT Major Hochstetter.
.
Bahhhhhhhh!
Priceless.

He was really fun to watch.
Throw in Gen. Burkhalter too!
Does anyone know why, there is a bass guitar playing the first half of the theme song but then half way through, it changes to tuba?
I'll have to watch this since I love Hogan! This, by the way, is Ron1973 from over at HTF.
So does Hochstetter just have a really bad memory, or was continuity just not a concern then?
1. I thought thought the gag was centered on him being annoyed w/ Hogan being in the office
2. I don’t the think the flow of the episodes was meant to be fixed to different parts of the war. There is some evidence suggesting the writers jumped around. You might also remember, Hogan is always surprised that the Germans are suspicious of Stalag 13, even though it’s a major plot in several episodes.
He probably didn't think early on Hogan was someone worth remembering until he realized he was the most dangerous man in Germany
In actuality, while the actor is the same, he's been playing a different character every time he was on the show until he became Major Hochstetter, who became a permanent recurring character. The first appearance of Major Hochstetter is the last time he asks "WHO IS THIS MAN?!"
Major Hochsetter…the Chandler Bing of Hogan’s Heroes!
how many times did he say "what is this man doing here?" or the equally overworked "ring of steel" :-)
Puts Hogan in prison and has the nerve to ask, "What is this man doing here??"
Which episode is 0:17?
Thanks, I had forgotten it.
BAAAAHHHH!!! 🤣
*Who is this man?*
What season & episode is 1:26-1:38 in? We have looked and looked but can't find it. We have the whole season and lists of Hochstetter' appearances.
Pretty sure it's from Season 3. The one when they pretend to end the war I think
I always felt like if hochstetter was tried for war crimes after the war ended his last words would be “WHAT IS THIS MAN DOING HERE????!!!”
Vat izz ziss man doink heeeeerrrr!
Literally kicking my feet n stuff 💖🤭🥰
Howard Caine was from Tennessee, I believe.
😂 lol...major Hockschteder was so funny
My wife likes nutty characters, such as Maj. Hochstetter and Col. Flagg on MASH.
In what army does a Major yell at a Colonel? Hahahaha
Funny , yes ! A Gestapo officer could yell at any one , being Gestapo man
The gestapo was not a part of the army, hence Hochstetter could holler at a general. One flaw throughout the series is that Hochstetter’s rank insignia is of an SS full colonel, not a major.
Bah who is this man
Howard Caine, Jewish amateur banjo champ from Tennessee.
Not very perceptive for a gustappo man
BAH!
How in the HELL can this totally unrealistic and outdated show be so dam funny fifty years later???
Lol!!
An amazing cast and amazing writing
I have wondered the same thing. I'm always ready to watch it.
Fantastic compilation. Thank you. This is one those shows that really stands the text of time.
