    IDK the FG has served me well, my braid runs 15 to 40 lb test my leaders 20 to 60 lb test, never had a problem once properly burned in.
    I do like your hack wrapping the braid around the reel handle for tension and will incorporate that going forward. Looks a bit easier for my arthritic hands thank you.

      You're welcome, the FG knot is indeed very strong. But with a little modification like the one in the video, the knot will be stronger. You can try it when fishing on the weekend

    Excellent tutorial! What is the thinking with respect to the asymmetrical portion of the knot (where you’re wrapping twice on the left and once on the right)? I’ll give it a try the next time I tie on a leader, but I’m curious why this should hold any better than a regular FG. Thanks.

      if as usual the fg knot is 1:1 initial braid. the relix knot that i made is 1:2 as you can see in the video, it will make the braid stronger from start to finish. in my country many casters use this knot and it is proven strong, even using a light leader line. maybe in the next video i will make a strength test sir

    The more I fish the more I take an interest in the many different knots. This seems a good knot. My 1 question - can you get the entire thing tightened (for good bite of braid into leader) with all of those wraps? Ive seen a number of very experienced captains shorten their fg knots to max 16 wraps in each direction for the very reason that 20 to 25 in each direction might tighten at the mainline end of the knot but not at the leader end of the knot. When you tighten this knot do you get color change down to the beginning wraps of it? Thank you. Ive watched so may of your videos I now recognize your hands!

      I have learned how to tie the fg knot or the relix knot that you are watching.. to get good and strong results from this knot or let's just say with the Fg knot, when you braid from start to finish you have to make sure the PE or main line tension is really maximum. because in my experience if the main line is a little loose then the braid we make is only tight at the end, but if the main line tension is maximum it will definitely be different. you can practice by maintaining the main line tension using the reel knob for maximum results of an Fg or relix knot.
      Thank you very much friends for watching my video. I hope you and your family are always given health and remain under God's protection.

    Bueno, no deja de ser un FG "expandido". Al menos debe ser tan bueno como el FG. Mi intuicion me dice que seguramente añada algo mas de seguridad pero lo mismo se hacen pruebas y resulta aguantar lo mismo. En cualquier caso, no añade ninguna dificultad, asi que tampoco hay motivo para no hacerlo

      blood knot is easier, but not stronger than relix fishing knot. and blood knot will be thicker if using heavy leader, unlike relix and fg knot. if using heavy leader both knots that i mentioned still smooth and strong

      think about it, if you are using a light 3-6lb rod but you are using a thick 80lb leader. will it run smoothly through the top ring. the knot in the video is designed for use with thick leader line. 😁

    • @RH-qk5lt
      @RH-qk5lt 29 днів тому

      @@pescadorestamora Think about what you just said. Why are you using a "light 3 - 6lb rod" with 80# leader? On most of my rods that have 80# leaders, a double uni fits thru those guides nicely. Besides that, the FG is even less work to tie than that with arguably similiar breaking strength. We been fishing for 60 years without knowing what an FG knot is or any other of the new slim knots. I'm just saying that it can get a bit out of control. Tie a good, quick & easy knot and go catch fish.

      40lb leader with 15lb braid is for fishing blackfish/tautog in structures.
      Not sure why tying thinner leader to braid would be any different. Just make sure there is tension on the leader and the braid. 👍
