That comment was consistent with his feelings. He ate the Reeces because he hated himself; he was boyfriends with Adam because he hated himself. You are right; that is awful but there are others who behave the same way.

  • @SofieAnn

This was absolutely beautiful and I almost cried
    My analysis:
I see it as though both of them are hurting in different ways. Adam is struggling with his homosexuality. He doesn’t want to look at Lance during sex, he says he doesn’t know what he’s doing, etc.
Lance is struggling with self love. He even says he eats Reese’s pieces because he hates himself. He’s so desperate to be with someone because he doesn’t want to be alone. This causes his to look past Adams behavior.
Obviously, it’s fucked up that Adam doesn’t tell Lance how he felt before displaying it in an art show. However, Lance comes to terms with his problems because of it.
At the end, he dances with himself, which is a symbol for him finally loving and accepting who he is.

ever since I watched this short film I haven't been able to get it out of my head. I watched this late 2017 and showed it to almost everyone I knew. But something I didn't realize watching this before is the fact that they both didn't actually want to be with each other. They wanted to feel loved the way they felt like they had to be.
I've spent so long looking for this film again that watching it all over has given me a new perspective on how I treat myself in life. I relate to Lance and Adam in many different ways...This short Film has not only ripped me apart once but has done it again

I'm a gay man of 63 and been out for a long time. Your film was powerful in telling the emotional states of being in both men. The artist in a new world that looks the same but he is unsure and still learning about himself. The subject himself so assured, at least on the outset, so sure he knows the artist's mind and yet he doesn't and needs to step back. He's so quick to doubt the artist, too impatient. He becomes very frustrated and the light goes off and he sees the root of his frustration is not the artist but himself. When he's able to accept "self' and let self be, then real honesty and joy can exist. This was my take on it and I have not seen this in a gay movie before. This deserves a large audience Chad Hylton! Bravo Sir!

Awesome message. The old saying is you can’t love someone else unless you first love yourself. It’s not true. You can. But it’s not anyone else’s job to love you. It’s yours. When someone else loves you, it’s a gift. It shouldn’t be something you lack and need, but something extra that you love receiving.

I've watched this multiple times over the years and it reflects something that I fear most. My mental health and fear of loneliness will affect my relationships so badly, that it's not even worth the pain. I don't want to be the cause of someone else's pain or make them feel trapped because I'm so fucked in the head. I find myself needing to just, get comfortable with being lonely because that's all you'll ever be.

This was brilliant. It had so much meaning and used a perspective that highlights so much of the character's individual vs self conflict intertwined with the presentation of conscience- while showing every piece of memory tied to a wave of emotions. This was beautiful in such an artistic way that captured the smallest details up front when the audience finally saw the truth behind the Art Exhibition pieces- at the same time the main character did. I loved that it addressed human emotion, and a viewpoint on dysfunctional relationships, along with its small spotlight on mental health and internal conflict.
This has to be one of my favorite short films and I will be definitely recommending it. Well done.

I've watched like 5 of these short films and you don't know how much better I feel about myself and this one teaches to love myself regardless of how I always thought being gay or bi was wrong. To embrace it and know your perfect in your own little way. I let beliefs and other people's opinions stop me from loving myself and loving the one I like more than just a friend. To whoever contributed to making this, thank you from the bottom of a broken but healing heart. I hope this film touches more people than just me.

Lance ultimately is the archetype of so many modern gay men...
He seeks love from other people to confirm his sense of true worth
But the people he fell for also are unsure in themselves the way he is
He hates a part of himself
He is rejected by people he loves
    But he also rejects himself
It's a vicious cycle which feels impossible to escape.

Oh my god I'm crying. I relate a lot to Lance. Having that negative inner voice, that anxiety and hating yourself for it. Turning a blind eye to your own problems and pretending shits okay when it's not. Because it's easier to ignore problems than to face them. I feel that. I'm like that every day. I have to take tiny white pills to keep me from hurting myself. It's just so complex and emotional and I love this film. I love it.

Brilliant..transcendental...imaginative! This film goes beyond the concept of gay love and commitments and touches right where it is supposed to touch - our soul! Loving someone doesn't really mean hating yourself..or falling for someone who tries to figure himself through you.
This short story also indicates how one should not forget who they are and be aware of choosing where to invest their perfectly perfect emotions. So beautifully made that I find it difficult to comment on it..Tim Torre haa delivered emotionally packed performance..his character is painted with depth of unique self-introspection! I think we should not let anybody manipulate themselves and remain conscious about their love interests in a practical possible ways!
For quite a few days, I am gonna mull over this tremendous LGBT movie 😊

Very deep, funny, sweet and contemporary short film. Everyone remembers the good and bad aspects of their relationships, but there is always the one that makes us stronger and more accepting of ourselves. The conversation between Lance and his conscience is beautifully real, introspective, cute and touching! Truly a classic Romance story anyone can internalize with. The ending was bittersweet yet reassuring too. Loving who you are is the important thing.

You know, I was watching this film from a kind of passive lens where I was just following the story and trying to get a feel of everyone's emotions, but a comment here really put it into perspective once I had gotten to the part where the guys were arguing. I too have been rather depressed over not just finding love but also a decent lasting friendship. So whenever I feel like I'm getting close to something, I feel too much too fast and get my hopes up even though I try not to, and all the emotions just overflow. But then when things don't seem to be going as well as I'd hoped I take it really hard and fall like a ton of bricks. What really slapped me in the face about this film was the context of the guy talking to himself. It didn't hit me until 75% of the way through, but I totally have moments like these. Every time I'm depressed I just drift off in a sad daydream and my brain ends up imagining that I'm keeping myself company, talking to myself, trying to pick myself back up. Sometimes I'm the same age as myself, sometimes I'm younger and more hopeful, sometimes I appear a year older and wiser. But it always manages to pull me out of my depressive state for at least a little. I always think that it's a sign that I do love myself enough to be able to get back up and start pursuing relationships again. But then sometimes I have to wonder if I am. Like the guy in this film, him having a heart-to-heart with himself didn't mean that he had his issues sorted. It was probably just another daydream in his life. Not sure of it all myself. But I love this film's message and was very impressed at how well it managed to reflect things relevant to my own life in such an accurate way that I don't think I've seen before in a story.

The story was well organized, a great syuzhet, and was shown in a creative manner.

For me, what I noticed what is so life changing, is the scene 22:43 onward, the critical "self" just got told the ultimate words of rejection, got up off the couch to hold hands and dance with Lance who is also most vulnerable... and... then the words of the song playing brining awareness to their dysfunctional relationship, their loving embrace... so powerful! Again, BRILLIANT Video! More videos like this please! 💞

This movie hits close to home. My own insecurities trashed every relationship I've been in. How could I hurt people I love.

Very good. Good story. Very good acting. I especially liked the method of the story -- the alter ego. It was a very good idea to do it that way.
    Well done.

Chad Hylton’s “Love You Thank You” brought back memories of a lover, older and more experienced than me, who after having sex each time would thank me. I was young and newly out and found it a strange thing to say, but in time I realised that what I saw as the beginning stages of our life together he saw instead in strictly transactional terms of mutual pleasure. There was no “our life together”, just as Chad Hylton’s Adam, the emerging artist played by Donovan Mendelovitz, has no plans for anything more significant than his career. Lance, on the other hand, brilliantly played in all his complex misunderstandings by Tim Torre, yearns for someone to make up for what he lacks: self-love, self-worth, self-respect. This sad story of painful self-discovery has been made with considerable care and skill by its talented production team.

Tim and Donovan you're both amazing actors this was a hard role to play but you did it brilliantly I kind of had my mouth open at the end of the movie I was just expecting just a touch more, it's obvious that your boyfriend is suffering from depression and it's so sad cuz it's getting in the way of everything, " everything", I really love this film thank you for sharing it with us it was simply amazing you guys both have a new fan my name is Bob storm and I want to thank you for this film. Love is All Around.
