Wasn't this the same Rory bloke that made a video apologizing to Southgate 3 days ago?
That's the guy
And the guy that was saying he wanted Southgate to stay on after the final Sunday 😂
Yeah lol
Just here to call Rory a little prick.
😂
Agreed
😂😂
I MAKE A POINT TO BE POSITIVE ON THE INTERNET…..BUT I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOUR POINT….ENGLAND FANS HAVE BECOME WORLD CLASS MOANERS

The same guy who didn't waste any time to drop true Geordie.
Even though it was him who give Rory his career
Absolutely @@66kaisersoza
Duh he is not a robot
@66kaisersoza Yeah Brian made him. Rory was just a back up dancer before on the Football Republic led channels
Absolutely nothing wrong with that.. Admitting you were wrong?
He is right though. Southgate is tactically clueless. He was playing whoof ball in the final ffs!
But yet he's done better than anyone else since 66
@@craigdoc6656 Context matters: He also probably has had the best team relative to the competition since 1966.

He’s a motormouth.
😆
He’s not even a proper UA-camr! He’s a charlatan! 🤬
Don’t listen to the guy then lol
Clealry he’s not when your here writing a comment about him
How this guy has a job on this platform is beyond me.
Just be a contrarian every time you open your mouth and don't care, and you'll get the clicks.

Which one?
Southgate couldn't do it, end of.
If Tuchel was English it would be his job all day long. He is a former world coach of the year and has 10 major trophies under his belt. It is a no-brainer for me.
England have had 60 years of not doing it. So it's not just him. You can say 8 years of failure but that's just a continuation of decades of the same before. Just a little bit closer if that matter. Apparently it doesn't. England will win it all now Southgate is gone lol.
@@treble20 Tuchel falls out with players and the media far too often. He's a great coach, but not the right personality for England

What do you want? Southgate 2.0? Someone who is a nice guy but doesn't win anything. It beggars belief what goes through some people's minds.
Rory is a knob
Don’t listen to him then. Simple 😆
Rory Jennings, calling Gareth a failure...sweet irony!
They were pre-tournament favourites. He had the best squad of players in the tournament, so he has failed.

@@paulearle3780highest win rate 😂😂😂😂😂 of course he has a high win rate because most of those wins are in qualifiers and friendlies against minnows like Malta and North Macedonia
@@paulearle3780 first of all, my comment is to the OP who conveniently left out the fact that England hasn't won anything since '66.
And also highest win ratio counts for nothing. You don't get a trophy for that. It's still 58 years and counting.
@@paulearle3780 🏆 here's your trophy for the "highest win rate in international football". Is that intelligent enough for you?
Rory is absolutely spot on.
Anyone who thinks any of those performances by England entitle Gareth not to be called a failure are absolutely mental. How we even got out of the group is a miracle, let alone topping it. Every single minute of every game was painful. The only, and I mean only thing you can say about Southgate is he is the luckiest football manager that has ever ever been. Rory is spot on. Diss him all you want for being a youtuber.....petty jealousy. Just because you're sat at home watching this on your mobile paid for on contract from your shitty job. My dead cat could see Kane had no legs, yet he played him. That Foden was out of position, kept doing it. You cannot possibly say he has done anything other than bring togetherness to that team. Maybe that's all you lot crave for, some youngsters playing darts together and hugging. Personally I would prefer a trophy before I die. And Southgate, even with all the luck in the world, and he certainly had that, couldn't manage a piss up in a brewery. He'd probably take tetotalers.
All these supposed best players and the likes of Denmark, Slovakia and Slovenia don’t fear England in the slightest.. Spain thought they’d win.. England hoped they’d win.. England haven’t played great football for 8 years
It's 8 years of the most success we've had since 1966
Wouldn’t have been without the luck he had tho if he was given harder groups he would have been gone years ago

I am Chelsea fan , I can relate to the Gareth Southgate experience with our team .Chelsea ,from 2007 to 2010 was brimming with world class talent that serially challenged for top honours ,domestic and continental all the way to the business. What they often lacked however, was that ‘it’ factor when it counted, primarily due to managerial shortcomings. The 2007/2008 season, in particular, stood out. Avram Grant took over mid-season almost in the same manner that Gareth did as an interim measure . While he was tactically inept and in over his head ( like Southgate) , individual performances carried the team. Like England, they had multiple “almosts” that season but never quite reached the top. Avram was a very nice, likeable guy but he just didn't cut it and they moved him along sharpish.
The late Ray Wilkins once said this was probably one of the strongest Chelsea squads ever assembled. They were formidable because they managed and organized themselves on the pitch, often relying on individual brilliance. However, they lacked the slight course correction at key moments in the season and cup games to actually win something and those can only come from a competent manager . Enter Carlo Ancelotti in 2009, the squad finally achieved its potential, winning the title by a canter in 2010 from Manchester United.
I feel like the England squad is in a similar predicament now. Gareth had the job for 8 years. Just being a nice ,likeable guy is not going to cut anymore .Especially if you truly have ambition to win.The Peps , Klopps and Mourinhos of this world understand that winning is what counts in the end.
We got to where we got in-spite of Southgate.
What Rory really means is that England has been a failure, not Southgate. Southgate has been there for only 8 out of the last 58 years. What about the previous 50 years??
I shudder to think what England could have achieved if a capable manager had of been in charge…Ireland thanks you FA!!
England had muliple world class managers with equally good players/some better. Did far worse than Gareth.

i have no idea what this guys views are, ive watched 3 vids from him today they are all different... crazzy
Yh I saw i video the other day praising Southgate saying he has earned the right to stay and that England played solid tournament football 😂
English sports media are a top to bottom front to back side to side comedy show. They need to take a good look at themselves and catch a grip.
💯
Southgate wasn't there to break down barriers! He was there to win tournaments and play good football and he failed miserably as exemplified by the grotesquely embarrassing Wembley defeat 2 years ago!!!
Klopp won't be interested. If Tuchel was English it would be his all day long. He is a former world coach of the year and has 10 major trophies under his belt. It is a no-brainer for me.
Hes says the total opposite,to common opinion, its all click bait for his podcast ,
He was saying sack Southgate, after the first match ,then we reached the final ,and all of a sudden when everyone was saying southgate was poor ,he wants him to stay on to the world cup
Broken clock is right twice a day
Finals, semifinals, quarterfinals, and finals in four tournaments managed. I think history is going to end up being a lot kinder to Southgate than people realize right now. Getting this far in four straight tournaments may never happen again and should not be taken for granted. Far too many English fans really do not respect other nations and have an entitlement to success that is not at all justified.
It'll be infinitely kinder after the managers and tournaments following his era have played out.
@@Photosoflife I agree... English media and fan think/speak as if they are a European football dynasty which they are not.

@@simonjrgensen6761 well tbf the football was dross we have to admit that , add in the tactical inability and refusing to replace players who are unfit and for me he had to check out . Done a decent job but as they say 2nd is first loser .
@@IanBaker-t9i total failure is a bit too much... under Gareth's tenure England have reached heights they've never been to. It was just a few years ago that England were getting knocked out of tournaments by the likes of Iceland and Costa Rica.
He made the England team feel all inclusive and united, and combatted racism in the face of all the toxic ''anti-woke'' people's' criticism (which shouldn't be happening in 2024), , and he made the players care about winning for England despite the toxic atmosphere. He did great work bringing through youth and putting together different squads. While most of the nation was saying the only was down, he stayed strong and pushed on upwards and got as close as possible to reaching the trophy twice.
Rory ain’t really an England fan and he ain’t really a UA-camr either as he doesn’t have 500K subs let alone 1M! We should support the team and new manger unconditionally! Thanks for everything Gareth! We go again in 2 years! 💪🏴 60 years of hurt never stopped us dreaming! 🏴
Also why is Talksport and Sky giving Rory a platform?! He must be paying them surely?!
I cant wait for us to go back to us struggling to qualify, playing in play offs, going out in group stages and getting to the last 16 and maybe last 8 at BEST. People have such short memories and that was with better players. Don't tell me Rice and Manio get anywhere near Gerrard/Lampard/Scholes/Carrick.
lol are you stupid if Gareth had harder draws and harder group games he would have been gone years ago
English media pre tournament: “Bellingham is confident great attitude”
Post tournament: arrogant let’s criticise him.
As ETH said. You’re great at bringing players up and then destroying them
Look at a failure calling someone a failure. Some of you guys can only talk but can do nothing. I am ashamed of some of these journalists
Winning tournaments is ridiculously hard. Losing to Spain was upsetting but they were better. Losing to Italy in 21 hurt because we should’ve won.
Southgate did the job he needed to do, changed the narrative around the England team and brought through a lot of youth through trust.
Did he have easy routes yes, but that’s what you get when you win your qualifying and then group at the summer tournaments.
Southgate was far from a tactical wizard but a lot of people think if you have the players you can play like Man City. You can’t they train together every day all year. At international level you only get them for a few weeks a year, yes Spain do it well but that’s how they raise there players through la Masia and madrids systems. We don’t, also for every Phil foden who didn’t do well off the left for England or Harry Kane who doesn’t suit not having pacey wingers beside him, you have Declan rice in his preferred position, saka in his Jude in his and no one shone for us at the Euros.
Southgate was a pragmatic and that can work in the international game, he took too long to make subs and never quite tweaked it enough for England to put teams to bed, England will be competing for the decade next I have no doubt and that is in no small part because of Southgate.
The same anti southgate crowd were the same ones chanting how "he is the one" a lot of fickleness and negativity was shown by England fans over him.
8 YEARS OF FAILURE???? He’s the best manager we’ve had of The England team since Sir Alf Ramsey! I’m sick of the Criticism that Gareth Southgate is getting, I promise some people will look back and realise what Gareth Southgate did for the England team and will regret what they said about him. ❤️🏴❤️
A man who has tailored his football opinions to the algorithm so many times that even he no longer remembers what he actually believes. A true chameleon.
People are forgetting the awful state the national team was left in before Gareth took over, England were in the gutter with the worst teams n football from 2007-2016.
Its always been the expectation that we qualify; always. I can go back as long as Bobby Robson (my first World Cup was 86), all the way through to Southgate. We’ve always expected to qualify.
If Southgate was a failure what word would you use for all the previous managers. Other managers had Gazza Beckham scholes lampard Gerrard and never got to a final.
Failures,that's the word you're looking for .
If Gareth had resigned the day after the Italy game in ‘21 then his legacy would stand up, having taken a side going nowhere and brought them together and on the verge of success. Completely understand why the temptation to finish the job would be too great, but history will show that he wasn’t quite up to it and outstayed his welcome by 3 years and 2 tournaments.
If 🏴 can get to a final playing badly then it’s not gonna take much to win a tournament. The tough thing is to have a manager that can make the big decisions at crucial times.
He picked players from outside the big clubs andxthen didn't bother playing them 😂
Rory looks like Marty Mcfly expecting to be “biffed”
Going deep is the norm when you keep avoiding top sides.
Losing to thr first quality side you meet is also the norm
Rory... this is the complete opposite of what you say on "The Club" and your channel. WTF
In the end, measured against ultimate goals we are all failures as Rory Jennings knows only too well. In fact most including Jennings are non starters. Southgate was such a failure that:
England were the only team in Europe to have reached the quarter-finals of the last four major tournaments (FIFA World Cup 2018, UEFA EURO 2020, FIFA World Cup 2022 and UEFA EURO 2024)
Southgate has managed England 102, won 61, drawn 24, lost 17, scored 213, conceded 72, win ratio 59.8%. In comparison, after 100 games, Ramsey had 63 wins, 23 draws and 14 defeats and Winterbottom had 59 wins, 23 draws and 18 defeats.
Southgate has the record of being in charge of most England games during MAJOR tournaments with 24 ahead of Sir Bobby Robson (15), Sven-Goran Eriksson and Walter Winterbottom (both 14) and Sir Alf Ramsey (12). Only Sir Alf Ramsey has a higher win percentage at 66.7% from his 12 games.
If you think Southgate did well, you are either in the media and worried about your job or you know nothing about football.
It’s norm to choose outside the big clubs because clubs don’t have many big players. There’s something Paul merson mentioned, the teams around us are not at the same quality as before 00s etc (look at Italy and Brazil) we should be dominated games with WC players we have
A guy whos never kicked a ball in anger talks like an authority . Christ.. who platforms these guys ?
Howe is not the answer. His long ball football with one of the worst possession averages in the Premier League is not what England need. Been there, just done that.
@Peradabo Last season Newcastle were 8th in average possession, 9th in accurate passes per match, and 14th in long passes. If you actually watch Newcastle play you would know that they don't play long ball football, so your comment just comes across as ignorant.
@@Peradabo you're right that he's not the answer though cuz he's not leaving the Toon right now.
@danielrobins6497 Read the facts. During the 2022/23 season, Newcastle averaged under 51% possession, the most they've achieved under Howe. That's a cumulative estimate. Some games were very poor. Don't be ignorant as a fan. Read the facts. Read them and understand them. I do not want any long ball football. Eddie goes long in games. We've just had that under Southgate! Not progressive at all.
@@Peradabo actually in 22/23 it was 52.4% (7th best) and in 23/24 it was 52.3% (8th best) so you're just talking nonsense. Those are the actual facts
@@Peradabo you clearly haven't watched them play and no nothing about Howe's tactics
He's right but he was also crying when Lamps got the sack.
These ppl forget the quality of international teams in 2014 etc they wer far better teams than the teams Englands competing against now its not even comparable
Look at Argentina. Messi with a stacked Argentina squad lost 6 International finals in about a 10 year period. They've won the last 3 (technically 4 with the Intercontinental title) they've played in with players that are inarguably inferior to what was once available all because they got a Coach who understood exactly what was needed to make use of strengths and limit their weaknesses. They beat Brazil IN Brazil, a stacked France side and now ANOTHER Copa America with an old Messi who was playing at about 50% of his abilities due to injuries. England needs a Scaloni. The perfect choice is obviously Klopp, but I don't think he'll take it.
The question everyone should be asking is why the under 21s 19s 17s has won world cups and euros and we beat Spain with the under 21s final even the Women has won a couple of trophies
How can you call someone that has done more than any other manager since 1966 a failure? Two major tournament finals, quarter and semi finals at World Cups.
England had won penalty shootouts before Southgate was manager. Spain in 96 comes to mind atleast. Im sure there are more.
We’ve had a great squad whilst a lot of the other big teams were struggling. Now Spain and Germany have a new crop and they’ll use them better then weve use ours.
Olmo against France would have been clear goal of the tournament if it didn’t come off Kounde on the way in
I dont really agreed with everything Rory is saying.
However, player for player, England had the best squad compared to any other country. The problem is Southgate couldnt get the best out of the players he available to him.
He also made bad decisions. He brought about 4 players that could play right back, but only brought 1 fit left back. Why bring Gomez? That could have easily beem Chilwell or Mitchell. Amd other decisions, like not dropping players when theyre or form.
All this comes down to Southgate.
Hang on a minute.......... Rory, stop flip-flopping on this Southgate thing mate, the other day you were calling for him to be sacked, then you were calling for him to stay and now........ on here, are saying that he's a failure!!!! I'm so confused here.😬
England would have gone as far under Big Sam
I think Rory’s being harsh here. To better Southgate, the new manager is going to have to reach a World Cup final and win the Euros. And do it all whilst facing constant personal abuse. A sobering thought. These were good times….
I swear Rory does class A”s for sure
Managers are judged on trophies won ..Not finals made Harsh but real
Who the f is Rory Jennings.
Southgate is being given credit for not making as many mistakes as usual, WTF is that. Has Southgate really coached this team to make England a 'force' again or have the players been good enough to put together some individual performances and pull off some wins despite Southgate. Everyone's been criticising his coaching and tactics for 6 years, so to me that would suggest the latter is true.
The state of Durham
😂😂😂😂😂
He looks like he should have an open bottle of sherry
In his jacket pocket
Let’s face it , these Spanish, French, German etc teams play the kind of football we could watch all day ,skills, different ideas and techniques. Our football is basic and boring so maybe if we could have a foreign manager we might win some silverware 😂
Look if u look at it it's a failure in winning trophy's but he's succeeded in moving the team foward and making England a much bigger threat over the last few years
why wouldn`t anyone expect a european team to win the next world cup? Worked pretty well in brazil I would say, and Argentina surely isn`t unbeatable.
The problem with rory being given a platform is, anyone critical of Southgate gets lumped in with his opinions. 2018 was amazing, no doubt. 2020/2021 was good but a dissapointment in the end. Qatar was meh. And this tournament was a stinker.
It's not 8 years of failure it's a mixed bag, he earnt the right to go up until qatar but I was skeptical about going into this tournament with him and ultimately it was proved right, after the Slovenia game I kept thinking we'd click and kick on. It never really happened and overall this was a missed opportunity.
Overall done decent job but just not the man to get it done.
Wasn’t a decent job either as only beat teams he should be beating and still left England as the only team in history to lose both back to back finals
So by this logic, every nation’s manager who hasn’t won anything with their team is a failure?
We all think ten Haag is a failure… yet he’s won more finals than southgate
If Southgate was a failure, what was Rory’s acting career?
Best english manager of all time.
Pretty sure Rory was singing his praises the other day and defending him 😂
Credible in the tournament?! After the group stage, every other team in the tournament was hoping that they'd get England in the draw, such was the fear factor of facing a flat, 'try not to lose' Southgate team.
Trust in 4 years they will be looking back at Gareths period as the golden era. He was the right counter weight against the arrogance & entitlement of all those loudmouth pessimists
I think a good manager for use would be brendan rogers he would have use playing a nice brand of football
When did Florian Wirtz (the Bundesliga Player Of The Season) start playing for England? 🤔
Failure? Really?
Did we forget that before him, England always had quality players but poor results 😕?
Failure was not making it to Finals or even Semi-finals
86 out in the quarter final, 88 scalped by Ireland, 90 draw with Ireland and just about qualified then out in tje semi final. Led to Robson getting the sack. Talylor appointment was a total abomination, didn't wven quality in 94. 96 out in the semi final. 98, again scrpaed through a soft group then out against Argentina. Keegan took over, 2000 euros out in the group phase. Sven had great players but so too did other nations. Trying to fit square pegs in round holes led to his demise. Then onto McLaren, didn't qualify for 2008 euros. Capello couldn't get anything out if these guys. Hodgson, out on penalties against Italy in tje euros, didn't make it out of the group in Brazil and ultimately ended in Iceland knocking them out. Southgates record was a million times better than any of those managers.
Edit: Robson is a sir and people look back on El Tel fondly also. Keep that in mind when throwing dirt at Southgate
Talksport continue to troll Jude. No mention of Phil 007 Foden😂😂😂
