As soon as I saw that logo, I said "This is not from 1891." A quick Internet search shows that that branding was on a pan made by the Wager company in 1991, to commemorate the centennial of the founding of the Wagner Cast Iron company. Still, after this restoration, I don't doubt someone will still be able to use it when it IS 130 years old.

Exactly - I have 2 similliar pans - without ribs on cooking area - plain flat - perfect for eggs on bacon - these were bought in early 1990s - still using them after almost 30 years. BTW - I was really sad to find out that Wagner is out of business.

That frying pan is nice but, it wasn't made in 1891. Country of Origin wasn't required until after 1960. This is a reproduction made around the 1990's. Nice pan none-the-less. An 1890's pan would also have a "gate mark" on the cast iron, which were common until the early 20th century.

I don't contest your facts, with exception to the country of origin statement. While that may be true that it wasn't "required" that doesn't mean nobody posted a country of origin prior to 1960. I have a pannocake pan from 1941 with country of origin inscribed (also year of manufacture).
For that matter, I also have a Day grandfather clock from circa 1560, with country of origin posted. There are other examples, but none on hand.

My grandma used cast iron skillet for years, and my aunt too. I love cast iron, I have a complete set of skillets, a Dutch oven, and a reversible grill/griddle that's extra long so it uses two burners on the stove. You can buy a set of cloth handle covers, so you can grab the cast iron skillet without burning your hands. My cast iron came preseasoned and the instructions on care said not to clean with soap, because it'll strip that seasoning. Just scrub with hot water and a nylon brush. Then place upside down in the oven at 500°F for an hour to dry. The steak you made looked delicious! It made me hungry for one.
