- Jim is forced to work in the back of the office after Michael steals his desk because of the carpet incident.
From Season 2, Episode 14 "The Carpet" - When someone soils the carpet in Michael's office, he sees it as a form of hatred against him and realises that not everyone may like him. Meanwhile, when Jim moves to the back of the office for the day, Pam must cope without his ability to make her laugh.

@@SimonHaestoe I would say the opposite of "shy" could also be "outgoing." she's social and outgoing, which in itself is a type of confidence. I'm outgoing but also introverted and shy sometimes too. humans are complex like that :)

4 corner cubicle offices, there's 2 left in that office. Me and the male version of Kelly, LOL. Manufacturing and thank goodness I mostly work on equipment on the other side of the plant and I avoid male Kelly as much as possible.

I love the idea of the HR person making up an allergy to avoid someone and never talk to them. That is hilarious.
The early seasons had Jim as a punching bag, this episode had Jim see Pam laugh at Roy then he had to sit with kelly for the entire day and awkwardly asked a girl out on the phone

I think that initial punching bag status likely stemmed from the UK version of the Office. Since British comedies tend to have the main character as a punching bag, and that was definitely true of the original Office. Then as the show became more and more it's own thing that fades away
In the end he had all these voicemails from Pam which showed him Pam missed him all day.

@@JBM425 I think they did? At the end of 'Take Your Daughter to Work' day, Jim mentioned that he was going on a date. Apparently, there was a deleted scene in 'Drugs Testing' where Brenda returned one of his calls, but Jim could not take it because of the jinx.
they should've sent dwight there for an episode. he'd never complain about jim again.

This episode does it make any sense later on in the show because Oscar is shocked to learn that there is hardwood underneath the carpet when Dwights gun goes off and shoots the carpet. So if they are literally ripping up and replacing the carpet how would they not have realized there was wood flooring underneath it?
Because daryl and roy don't care about hardwood floors. Only oscar does and wasn't going near that room.
