That was so well explained! Now I know why I always felt vaguely disappointed when a guy would tell me he was a Libertarian.

When I was young, I struggled to see the difference between Classical liberalism, libertarianism, and conservatism because there is so much overlap. (And neither party reflects the original concepts they tout.) In recent years, I have learned so much about how libertarianism will fail to hold up. The differences are subtle, but make a huge difference. People have always cried out for a king or deliverer, such as king David, and the lack thereof will serve us into anarchy. We have to have reasonable government and reasonable laws.

Libertarianism is just a more extreme form of Classical Liberalism. Being a conservative, especially a paleoconservative, is someone who wants to conserve the way of life before all these artificial ideologies and "-isms" started popping up. You don't need ideologies. All you need is God's guidance.
The father of the "conservative" label is Edmund Burke. A famous quote attributed to him is, "All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
A good example of a paleoconservative in the US is Pat Buchanan.

To me, Liberalism, Classic Liberalism, and Libertarianism are all the same. They are all founded in the concept of running from solid authority.
We need strong, good, government. Government which promotes God's law and rebukes evil. I believe the founders believed in the same. Their first priority was to protect and sustain their own moral people.

You stated clearly your previous desire and the desire of libertarians is to abolish government, abolish the state. But this is a very clear misrepresentation of Libertarianism. That is anarchism, not libertarianism at all. As a libertarian I love government and the state and have no foolish idea of its abolition. Libertarianism is limited government just as the United states was first constructed and existed in until the time of the ci vil war. Now some would disagree with specifics of law at the time but the libertarian is concerned with the size and decentralized nature of the government.
If you think that abolition of government, abolition of the state, abolition of law and the like is libertarian you clearly were not libertarian but an anarchist. The founding fathers of America were keenly libertarian in their ideals and no one who has studied them would call them weak, or embracing cowardice as they fought off the English who were abu sing the colonists (sabotaging their economy, lack of representation, and human rights abuse towards the end with unjust killing of protesters).
The constitution of the United States was written as a document of negative rights against government. It is in fact a classic example of a "sins of omission" document. State (local and smaller jurisdiction) tends to handle more issues of sins of commission. Classic Libertarianism's primary focus is on the nature of government in this context but the courts were set up to handle issues of harm committed in the community. As you can see this is the opposite of a call to abstain from ruling. The joke is that libertarians want to take over the world (dominate with force actually) just so in the end you can enjoy more freedoms and live peacefully with guarantees on governmental restraints.
This caricature of the libertarian man living in a shack out in the woods is just a ridiculous straw man. Libertarianism does work and did work wonderfully as it gave us the great nation of the United States. Our fault was in leaving its ideals and embracing a centralized warrior nation bent on wars of aggression across the world.

The way I see it, my great grandparents fought to make me a slave and an outcast in my own homeland, and I am the first in my line to repent. So did most everybody else's forefathers. I have tried, but I cannot undo 3 or 4 generations of labor of my forefathers in one generation. I do not care about politics, because it seems to me that it's at least 3 generations removed from sanity. I only focus on myself and my wife.

I agree, It's pretty clear that monarchy is God's favourite form of government. There's no liberal democracy or republic in heaven, God makes the decisions. This is the most effective way to run an organisation.

You made that up. Completely and utterly made up. Is this the same God that spent years trying to convince Israel that they dont want to live under a king? God literally did everything he could to convince the Jews NOT to have a monarchy. But they wouldn't listen. So he gave them Saul.
And didnt Jesus say "The gentiles have kings and those who rule over them, BUT IT MUST NOT BE LIKE THAT AMONG YOU if you are to follow me"
Yeah something (and by something, I mean the words of God himself) tells me that God is far more of a Libertarian and a Constitutionalist than an Authoritarian and Monarch. Of course, he doesnt fit neatly into any man made system

@@josheternalI was about to like your comment, until you said that God is a libertarian.
God is not at all a libertarian, which is why He had the Hebrews slaughter the Canaanites and take their land because they were degenerate idol-worshipping pagans. The wage of sin is death.
Libertarians say that you should live and let live.
God is authoritarian too, but He's the legitimate authoritarian and not the sinful human dictators and kings.

God prescibed a republic for the Hebrews to govern themselves at the end of Exodus and Deuteronomy (the latter has a section on what looks kind of like a trial by jury). You can look up the "Hebrew Republic."

Amen. I hate it when people say, "get your kids out of school and homeschool!". I completely disagree with this. We should be training our kids to GO TO school and stand up for what is right. Just like we should be working and doing business and standing up for truth and right, not running away from it.

It's not the responsibility of children to stand up to opposition. That's up to their parents to do. Adults can't escape reality. Children are expected to learn about reality, but they're not warriors. That puts kids at risk of danger and perversion instead.
