I have been a homemaker for 28+ years (with some little part-time jobs outside of the home here and there). My husband’s and my primary goal was for me to be at home and homeschool our 5 children. Due to an injury and RA (my husband is having difficulty using his right hand and his profession is construction. His doctor has said that he needs to rest it) So, I will be working full time while my husband stays home with 12 yo, 13yo, and 17 yo. It’s with a really heavy heart, but the Lord is good, and I know He will provide for us like He always has. Even though I will be working outside of the home, my first priority will be my family and home. Who knows what God will do in our family ☺️ Thank you for speaking truth, and not dwelling in the “what if’s”.

For I am weak, then I am strong." 1 Cor 12:9-10 And I will be continuing to pray for his healing!
You are on the right track! Homemaker here, married 41 years. My husband and I were on the same page, both wanting a stay at home mom for our kids. I could never figure out why anyone would want to work outside the home by choice. I love “home stuff” and have always been an excellent money manager. My grown sons tell me that whenever they think of buying something I’m in their head! Haha. I taught them about money management when they were little and wanted a popsicle from the musical truck driving through the neighborhood. They had a choice of one popsicle from the truck or a a dozen from the store. Worked like a charm! Even though we don’t have to, we still live pretty simply, buying used, driving older cars, etc. What a lot of people don’t understand is that you are exchanging money for time. Rather than using money to outsource our lives, we use the time to do it ourselves. The biggest blessing has been to witness my children growing up and to have the time to do things for both my grandmother and mother while other family members worked and had no time. Your message gives me hope for the future and I wish you all the best! ❤️. Edited to add that stay at home mom’s at that time we’re also very much looked down upon by career women who were doing it all.
Another awesome video. One thing I recently heard which I thought you two would like is that instead of Kelli saying when she "used to work" she could say when she "used to earn an income" as the word 'work' is being used in the way that it means job outside of the home with an earning income. However, we can all agree that women do a lot of work! The way work is used in American English in a colloquial sense is diminishing the value of women working for the home economy. As they are just not earning an income outside of the home if that makes sense :)
This is great the way you explained it. I always like to say work doesn't just mean working for the "system" but working is doing what God calls us to. It's not just the traditional "9-5" that culture expects.
Wonderful video! You are on point with the social media aspect and getting caught up with the "I want" instead of the "I need". I am much older than you.. been married 44 yrs. Homemaker..wife..mom. We worked very hard to keep things in place so I could have that honored position. I feel it is harder today because of social media and young women comparing themselves to many vloggers out there and feeling they fall short. I want to acknowledge you Kelli because you aren't like that. You put out useful information and keep things honest. I see many vloggers go down the sponsor path and then their content starts showing all the similar brands..from cookware to freeze dryers etc.. How can your average young homemaker keep up with that? Most can't, hence feeling not as good. Sorry for rambling on..just some things I've noticed. Bless you and Scott for your constant display of faith..refreshing in these times.

I was raised this way, then departed from it for a career/college when I was younger. But now, at 42 y.o. I’m returning to it, as God has blessed me tremendously with a wonderful husband and two babies and a home where we can garden and start our little homestead. And you are so right - I’m learning to be careful about the content I watch here on UA-cam so that I’m encouraged towards innovation, resourcefulness and godliness instead of discontentment. I pray for God’s continued blessings on you guys!
Love this! My hubsband & I had a 10 acre horse farm & a business in Washington. We sold it all after everything changed 3 years ago. We now live in South Dakota in a wonderful small town in a beautful 1897 victorian home that we purchased outright with the sale of our home and we now have absulutely no debt & will keep it that way. We live on a smaller parcel of land but it work for us to have a garden & play area for grandkids when they come over. My husband has a temperary full time job to pay bill & keep adding to our saving while he does online school to land a job in his field out here. I currently run a online business from home & am working towards learning more about cooking from scratch and having our home chemical free in the bathroom, laundry, kitchen etc. We are also as time goes saving to do updates & work on our home so no debt to accomplish that. Love your channel you two!!
I'm always saying... Everyone Works...some are paid money in exchange for it. Everyone Works! I'm trying to change my language in my interactions around that. The 'oh so you don't Work then?' Sentence Harms the Homemaker! We Work! So I ask people 'How Do You Fill Your Days' instead. It also gets around Men and Especially Women feeling Driven to introduce their Name and then their Career Job Title as a measure of their cultural worth. Noooo! So I am hoping to change culture by changing language and word use...humans automatically n unquestioning assume a picture in their head around words ...so let's draw different word pictures ❤😊
