- In this video i will show you how to dissolve CMC in water. I made two CMC solutions, 1% and 2%. Dissolving CMC in water is difficult little bit, require strong stirring and heat to dissolve CMC in water.
Damn I know CMC as something else, good to know
Good
Sometimes we have to add glycerol and tween-20 as well so my question is what should be the volume of these added per litre of the CMC solution if we know their concentrations. For-example how much volume of 1% glycerol and 0.25% tween20 should be added in 1L of 1% CMC solution.
Volume is very rare in formulation of cosmetics, simply calculate the weight of each ingredient. Bcoz every ingredient has their own density and difficult to formulate using density.
The dry, or powdered ingredients are difficult to measure the density, we can do but no need.
Thanks for this information
What is the best thickener for acid formulations PH 4 to 7
Every acid has their own thicker, like toilet cleaner thickener.
Mostly used acid thickener is Polyacrylic acid (carbomer)
I will share more information in next reply
@@cosmateur Thank you for this information, we are happy to share this with each other
what temperature to dissolve cmc?
Can be dissolved without heat, but fast dissolving I use heat
What is the quantity needed to be used in making toothpaste? Answer me, thank you
Ok.
Formula no 1

Sodium Saccharine 0.5 grams
Liquid paraffin 10 grams
Sodium lauryl sulfate 12 grams
Distilled water 216 grams
Peppermint oil 1.5 gram
Formula no 2
Calcium phosphate (dibasic) 400 grams
Calcium carbonate 200 grams
Sorbitol 70% 150 grams
Natural gum (tragacanth) 10grams
Sodium saccharine 1 gram

Formula no 3
Calcium phosphate dibasic 450 grams
Calcium carbonate 150 grams
Sorbitol 70% 150 grams
Tragacanth gum 10 gram
Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) 10 grams
Menthol crystals 1 gram
D-Water 220 grams
Essential oil (mint) 1-2 grams
Commercial brands uses Fumed Silica and Sodium fluoride instead of sodium saccharine and natural gum.
excuse me, how to remove trapped air bubbles in CMC solution?
Keep it open for 2 to 3 hours. U will get bubble free solution.
In my case I mix 1g of CMC with 1L of Di water so my concentration is 1g/L .. My question is that how do you define the 1% and 2% you did your work according to ?
1 gram in 100ml = 1%
2 gram in 100ml = 2%
1 gram in 1000ml ( 1 litre) = 0.1 %
One gram per litre is equal to 0.1%.
Again if u have any problem in calculation, plz let me know.
@@cosmateur Got it. Thanks a lot!
This is also in mind that what is the personages so solve it thanks a lot Got bless you and get millions of suses
@@cosmateur 1g is equal to 1ml unless the SG differs and is advised
Which chemical use for long life?please say sir.,
For skincare and haircare use Formaldehyde releaser. Like Dizolidinyl urea, DMDM hydantoin etc
For food products, use Sorbic acid, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate etc
Please say: Thank you.
Can I tell you,. Thanks for the useful information
When portioning by ratios, should I use ordinary mass or molar weight?
Don't use molar mass parameters. CMC is cellulose ether and every grade have the own molar mass. Use only my weight.
Thanks .
Wich of there are used in cosmetics?
CMC is used for thickening
How much time did the CMC take to dissolve?
Depends on quantity.
Can this work for any liquid and make it thicker ?
Not for all liquids. There are many thickeners, like acid thickeners etc. CMC is used to thicken water, shampoo etc
@@cosmateur what if the base of what I’m trying to thicken is water
so they use it in fruitjuices?
Absolutely right. They use corn starch, CMC, hpmc and he etc to thicken the juice
@@cosmateur They would also use GMS in addition to CMC?
Heating needed?
U can dissolve CMC without heating, but the heating increases the dissolving process.
