Well we ain't just driving around and that is not elevator music. As is always the case with Chris great care is put into eveything he does. In one of the Detroit area videos a pearl about how the spacious suburban look was really promoted here and yes and I can really see this. In contrast to my hometown of Chicagoland the area sure looks and feels more spacious and this is not just from depopulation. Just look at the multifamily housing and heck even the factories are less crowded and often have substantial greenery strips around them. I highly recomend both the River Rouge and Ecorse videos which also demonstrate that while the area has severe problems the background natural setting is quite pretty in areas. All this gives me hope for the inner Detroit metro. No wonder Chris calls Michigan his home state.
River Rouge appears to be a decent working class city. I think Ecorse has more dilapidation to it, although they appear similar. I always appreciate the added music to the videos. Solid "industrial" choice music for the towns. Thanks Chris!
The problem with economically poor cities is you are more likely to come across harden criminals. Both cities are French. Rouge means "Red" For Ecorse, when French colonists settled here in the last two decades of the 18th century, they named the waterway Riviere Aux Echorches, which became Ecorse. Your wellcome
Nope, many areas of the Midwest are safer than Seattle and now the burbs has this year new highs of crime (+140%), including hoods with guns. 25 miles North of Seattle a14yo old girl shot dead by a 16yo who tried to shoot a guy who had punched him. I would now feel safer in all but the worst cities of the Midwest, like Gary, Chicago Heights and Dolton areas, St. Louis and parts of Indy and Chicago.

Looks a lot better than wintertime/early Spring stark Chicagoland's Dolton/Chicago Heights, Ford Heights. I grew up minutes from there SE in Indiana.

Both cities are French. Rouge means "Red"

I think Ecorse looks worse than River Rouge.
