I've been looking for a more softer variant of Stone Tower for ages, and I've just found this piece of yours. I have to say, I'm very fond of this one, a lot more than most orchestral mixes out there. Thank you for spending the time on this lovely piece. I'll be sure to check out more of your work.
Wonderful work here, G-Squared. I feel like Stone Tower Temple is not an easy piece to work with, period, and the fact that you arranged and transcribed this _from memory_ just astounds me. Something about music from the Zelda series - especially the N64 games - is just so memorable and iconic! I really like how you kept that heavy and brooding atmosphere intact here through the tempo, rhythms, arrangement, and instrumentation. That lead picked string instrument at 0:50 (is it a lute?) has such a fantasy-like quality to it that sounds perfect for the time period that Majora's Mask seems to be set in, and it pairs perfectly with the flute. And those choral chants that come in right around 0:40 really transform the overall feel of the piece when they emerge, suddenly going from a delicate and mysterious tune, led by strings and chimes, to something much more imposing and weighty. Really, the instrument combinations here are absolutely fantastic! And honestly, I like the addition of the kit drums here, as they provide a modern element that contrasts nicely with the otherwise medieval-sounding instruments. Sometimes, it's those seemingly random, spontaneous urges that yield the most serendipitous results! But again, this is an excellent remix, and you've turned a piece I'm otherwise lukewarm on into something very cool and atmospheric. Great work! 🌟
Typically saying I "arranged and transcriped it by memory" means that I was too lazy to look at sheet music to check its precision, but I will happily accept such a compliment :> The unfortunate thing about Stone Tower Temple that is hard to work with when you're orchestrating is its repetitive nature. I ended up looping a lot of the bass, percussion, and most minor melodies. For things like cinematic orchestrations, repetiveness doesn't always fit so I had to wrestle around with it a bit to add enough length to the piece without losing its orchestral nature. I'm fairly certain there are a lot of remixes, typically chill and lo-fi, of this piece so that makes sense; but my choice to orchestrate it instead just made it more difficult for myself. I think that's why I added a drum kit synthesizer, so as to add a more remix-y feel, for lack of a better word. It sounds like a lute but Logic Pro has it labeled as a Persian santoor. I know a few things about instruments-- more than the average person, I would say-- but I have no idea what that is beyond a string instrument with Persian background. It appealed to me the most as opposed to an actual dulcimer. Probably because it has less brightness (I think that's the word), that I would probably use for something Gerudo like Urbosa's Theme. Thanks for your kind words again, Equalzye! I appreaciate you taking time out of your day to examine this piece thoroughly and share with me your thoughts on it. It's never required, but always appreciated. :D Have a good one!
Awesome remix, love the orchestral sound, mixture of the voices and the overall feeling you get from listening to this song. Very true to the original feel while being updated in a compelling way. Keep the remixes coming!
This is really good.
I like this, different than what I'd usually hear of Stone Tower remixes.

This is great. One of my favorite zelda tunes, and here's a new way to enjoy it. Plus 1 sub.
