Your pragmatic approach to access quickly exposes the tank and avoids unnecessary breakage to 20+ year old fittings and lines. Well done. Also, you expose many other repair areas that avoid complicated access challenges.
Thanks, man! All the other videos I found that remove the bed didn't give good shots of the fuel tank or focus on replacing the fuel pump. This helped a lot!
I have found, in my life, that making a decision about how best to approach fixing something is really important; since picking the wrong approach can lead to a lot more aggravation than picking the right one. (Even though the right one can be aggravating too. Just not as much). So there I was, trying to decide what approach to pick tomorrow, when I tackle fixing the fuel leak at the top of the tank on my '93 Toyota pickup. I was leaning toward removing the bed, but all those backyard mechanics you mentioned made me feel like a fool when I put out that I was thinking of unbolting the bed and moving it back to get to the top of the tank. I very much appreciate your confirmation that...at least in this instance...I'm not the fool.
SUPERRRR DUROOO BRO GRACIAAS UN MONTON. I was terrified to drop the tank and deal with all that. Felt so much comfortable, only think that sucks is doing it alone . That bed kinda heavy to move around . 10 stars fam
I appreciate your video and efforts.. I would like your recommendation, a evap leak was detected on my 2011 tacoma, would you suggest taking the bed of the check all tubing. hope to hear from you. Thanks and God Bless.
I love the video that truck is just like mine. After the fuel pump change i have a ignition problem. When i turn ignition i noticed spark coming from the plug wire when i crank the engine no spark from the plug socket. Is there aproblem with the distributor?
Thanks man I was going to drop the tank but I’m finding out it may be a little bit more work in the beginning but it will save my ass in the end. Thanks bro. 8:33
Yeah same. My pump went out and didn’t know how to disconnect everything lol. Barely got the shield off. Then I came across this video lol. Yes thank you for explaining everything.
I did an 02 Tacoma today. 3.4 V6.. I just unbolted the tank and let the front of the tank swing down. The hardest part was getting the dirt off the top of the tank and getting the electrical connectors loose. Truck has a metal rack, so no taking the bed off.
You mentioned briefly about how this is "..a single cab" so looking at the video it makes me wonder, if the truck was '95 Tacoma Extra cab, would removing the bed still get access to the top of tank?
Backyard mechanic here. You made a huge mistake in the very beginning: turning the key to the "ON" position does NOT cause the fuel pump to run. The circuit opening relay will not close the fuel pump circuit unless the engine is turning, whether from the starter or from continued combustion. So, poor diagnosis.
>"The circuit opening relay will not close the fuel pump" You mean "open" right? You can't even speak properly, yet you tell others what they did wrong lol. Too upset to type properly? Low-T does that, most of yall BM's act like you do at least. Also, starting your comment with "Background Mechanic here." Doesn't make us like you; you're still a tool and a try-hard, not clever in the least.

Dropping the tank is much easier and faster.
Not when ur tank is full of gas and the hoses is stuck on the tank for me it was much eazier removing the bed
The tank was full. You were not paying attention.
