If a RAW file is 1000 word essay. A JPG of that same essay is about 100 words.
A TIFF is about 999 words.
TIFF retains more pixel info than a JPG and therefore, when edited, will allow virtually the same freedom to edit colors as a RAW.
As you know editing colors on a JPG is usually pretty limited.
