Rise of the Gokturks VI: From Huns to Chinese - Turco-Mongols in Northern China

- The sixth episode covers the events in the Eastern Göktürk Empire from 552 to 560 CE.
Were the Ancient Turks and Chinese people always at odds with each other? What difference did it make to be either part of a nomadic or a sedentary society? Are the Göktürks descendants of the Xiongnu Huns?
In Season One of RISE OF THE GOKTURKS, you have witnessed how the Ashina Dynasty under the banner of Bumin and Istemi united all Turkic peoples in Asia and climbed the political ladder to become the lords of the steppe, from Manchuria to Eastern Europe. But while Istemi, Bumin’s brother and ruler of the Western Khaganate, was adventuring along the Silk Road and in the process both defeated the White Huns and established relations with the Byzantine Empire, the rulers in the East had a more difficult time. The Rouran, once overlords of the Turks, were now prey themselves and on the run from the Göktürks. But when they tried to persuade the Northern Chinese dynasties to support them against the Khaganate, the mighty family of the Western Wei declined - and even handed the Rouran out to the Göktürks. It was the Western Wei with whom Bumin had once allied himself before rebelling against the Rouran. And while the Northern Qi helped the Rouran and tried to contain Göktürk power in the region, both the Wei and the Qi were decedents of the Tuoba clan - the ruling dynasty of the Xianbei Confederation. The Xianbei, who had been enemies of the Xiongnu Huns but also steppe people like them with Tengrist beliefs, were ruled by Turkic and Mongolic people. If the Western Wei and Northern Qi were also of Turkic and Mongolic origin, the Göktürk-Wei alliance perhaps had been more than a mere coincidence of realpolitik. And not long after Mukhan Khagan assumed power and restored order in this part of the world, danger was already looming on the horizon as the Sui Dynasty united all of China, for the first time since the legendary Han Dynasty, and used conspiracies and deceit where it hurt the Turkic people the most: inside the Ashina dynasty…

Who is that speaking in the quote?
It's Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during a speech he held to commoderate the 10th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey. His words reminded me of the quote of the legendary Göktürk Emperor Bilge Khagan.:
"The Turkic begs gave up their Turkic names, and bearing the Chinese names of Chinese begs they obeyed the Chinese Emperor, and served him during fifty years. For him they waged war in the East towards the sun's rising, in the West they made expeditions as far as Taimirkapig; for the Chinese Emperor they conquered kingdoms and power. The whole of the common Turkic people said thus: 'I have been a nation that had its own kingdom; where is now my kingdom? For whom do I win the kingdoms? said they. I have been a people that had its own kagan; where is my kagan? Which kagan is it I serve?'
But fear not, for as long as the Turkic Khagan rules from the forest of Mt. Ötüken, the empire will face no ill. Turkic people, Turkic princes! Honest and diligent Turks! Come to your senses! What is that you fear? As long as the heaven above and the earth beneath you exists, you shall be your own master."

The "K" is silent so the pronunciation is "Hun". The "K" evolved over time and makes the throat sound.
Yes, but isn't that how I pronounced "Hun", though? Or did you mean the title "Khan"? In this word, the "k" is indeed there and silent.
@@KhansDen Yes the word Khan originated from Hun and they have the same meaning. Also, the meaning of ancient Korean Han and ancient Turkic and modern Turkish is exactly the same meaning "leader or the great (name) or head of the state". Many westerners don't know that "K" is silent so they pronounce it wrong.

Do Schools in Turkey teach this?
Not anymore. The last time where history books in School taught intensively about the origins and achievements of the Old Turks was during Ataturk's time. In 1949/51, the books he had personally commissioned were banned and replaced by books where the focus was shifted from Old Turkic to Anatolian Islamic dynasties. Subjects like the Old Turkic Script were deleted entirely.

What you mean about "Because the Sui Dynasty unified the entire China for the first time since the legendary Han Dynasty".China's first unified dynasty was the Qin Dynasty. And they are not the legendary dynasty, they are real
he's right, China was fragmented and split between the Han and Sui dynasties. The Sui finally reunited China, the FIRST time since the Han. The Qin united China before the Han dynasty.
@@gene.dig17 He sadi "the legendary Han Dynasty".The legendary Dynasty is Xia (夏朝About 2070 BC - about 1600 BC).Between the Han Dynasty and the Sui Dynasty was the Jin Dynasty(晋朝). The Jin Dynasty had two periods, first the Western Jin Dynasty and then the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The western Jin is united. The Han Dynasty is real dynasty.
The ethnonym "Gök-Türk" doesn't mean "celestial Turk"...but "Root-Turk".
It's ethymologically derived from "Kök".
"Kök-Türk" "Root-Turk"
kok means blue so sky turk isnt really wrong either sice the sky is blye and original turkic word for sky is kok
What would the meaning of "root Turk?"
@@robertomassa731 he has just misjudged the word. Kök in modern anatolian turkish means root. And we also have different word as gök which means sky and blue. There are some differentiations between ancient turkish language we mostly use g instead of k. For example, kelmek/gelmek, külmek/gülmek, kök/gök. As you see, k only changes in the beginning of the word.
He tried to say proto-turks or origin of turks by saying root turk. But it is false

Thank you for the informations!
I don't speak Turkic languages, but I have the interest for the ancient peoples of Central Asia, the nomads of the steppes...
And also their believe system called "Tengrism"!
The more I read about that and more I believe in TENGRI!!!
Thanks again, very kind.
I wish you well. 🐺
@@robertomassa731 well, ancient people of steppes are generally called as barbarian/uncivilized in eurocentric history and i dont know why but they try to keep their history as secret or just denying some facts(such as denying the fact huns were ancestor of turks, huns were the descendants of scythian culture etc). In fact they were not civilized, they just havent settled in an area and havent built cities, because of the conditions of the region they had lived.
There are still a lot to learn about them, and they are really interesting. It is just a shame that Tengrist/shamanic culture isnt a widespread culture nowadays, because it is much less aggressive belief system than those semitic religions.

Jai Hinduja. All Turkic tribals are descended from a single individual living in China's Liaoning province, 9000 years ago.
Can u explain in more detail and what is hinduja
The genuine appearance and essence of Chinghiz Khan, the real History of the Tatars, of many Turkic peoples and Russians:
‘Turkism, humanity, tolerance, democracy, justice and high material and spiritual culture since ancient times - in my opinion, their origins should be sought in the history of the Turkic peoples and popularized the knowledge gained around the world. That's what I'm trying to do...’
(an independent historian Gali Yeniky).
First of all it must be said, that in official history there are many falsifications and slanders about the ‘Tatars - wild nomads’ etc., which were written by pro-Chinese, Persian, also both Russian tsars Romanovs and Bolshevik ideologists.
However primarily we should know the truth about the meaning of the names ‘Mongol’ and ‘Tatar’ (‘Tartar’) in the medieval Eurasia:
According to many medieval sources, the name ‘Mongol’ until the 17th-18th centuries meant belonging to a political community, and was not the ethnic name. While ‘‘the name ‘Tatar’ was ‘the name of the own ethnos (nation) of Chinghiz Khan'. Also ‘…Chinghiz Khan and his people did not speak the language, which we now call the ‘Mongolian’…’’ (an academician-orientalist V.P.Vasiliev, 19th century). This confirmed by many little known data. So in fact Chinghiz Khan was from among the medieval Tatars and the outstanding and progressive leader of the Turkic peoples.
About the real faith of Chinghiz Khan and his native people: for example, the Turkish traveler Celebi (17th century) wrote the following from the words of Tatar alims (scientists): ‘It is proved that Chinghiz Khan was a Muslim, and the Tatars professed Islam already during the life of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him)’.
Also, as Tatar alims told Chelebi, Chingiz Khan had been buried in the Volga region, not far from the city of Astrakhan. Moreover, there is a lot of data about this, hidden from us.
It is worth saying that according to many little-known data, the ancient and medieval Tatars were a very developed people both in spiritual and material aspects. It was the medieval Tatars who created the first Constitution of Eurasia, which was called in Tatar ‘Great Yasu’ (‘Yasu’ in Tatar means 'Scripture').
But with time many of their descendants became spiritually disabled and forgot invaluable doctrine and covenants of the creators of Great Yasu...
So that the Tatars of Chinghiz Khan - medieval Tatars - were one of the Turkic nations, whose descendants now live in many of the fraternal Turkic peoples of Eurasia - among Tatars, Kazakhs, Bashkirs, Uighurs, and many others.
And few people know that the ethnos of medieval Tatars, which stopped the expansion of the Persians and the Chinese to the West of the World in Medieval centuries, is still alive. Despite to the politicians of the tsars Romanovs tsars and Bolsheviks dictators, which had divided and scattered this ethnos to different nations...
About everything above mentioned and a lot of the true history of the Tatars and other fraternal Turkic peoples, that was hidden from us, had been written, in detail and proved, in the book ‘Forgotten Heritage of Tatars’ - it is one of books by an independent historian Gali Yenikey, translated in Engilsh.
There are a lot of previously little-known historical facts, as well as 16 maps and illustrations in this book. This e-book (in English language) you can easily find in the Internet here: www.kobo.com/ebook/forgotten-heritage-of-tatars-1 or here: payhip.com/b/Xujb
On the cover of this book you can see the true appearance of Chinghiz Khan. It is his lifetime portrait. In the ancient Tatar historical source ‘About the clan of Chinghiz Khan’ its author gave the words of the mother of Chinghiz Khan: ‘My son Chinghiz looks like this: he has a golden bushy beard, he wears a white fur coat and rides on a white horse’. As we can see, the portrait of an unknown medieval artist in many ways corresponds to the words of the mother of the Hero, which have come down to us in this ancient Tatar epic. Therefore, this portrait, which corresponds to the information of the Tatar source and to data from other sources, we believe, the most reliably transmits the appearance of Chinghiz Khan...’.
And here's another interesting thing:
We can't keep silent that some 'very important' official historians try to retell the content (or rather, the concept) of the works of the independent historian Gali Yenikey (Yenikeiev). But they conceal where the information was by them taken from. However it turned out they were unsuccessful and confused - this official historians, apparently, do not dare to show the real history of the Tatars, being afraid of their ‘scientific chiefs’.
But not only this - see the portrait of Chingiz Khan - see on the 7th minute of the video of the Institute of history of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan (Russia): ua-cam.com/video/3WqB71gs5bc/v-deo.html - also this portrait is shown there both before and after.
This portrait is reconstruction, which made by Yenikeiev on the basis of a lifetime portrait of Chingiz Khan and of information from the medieval Tatar Dastan (epic) 'About the Origin of Ciingiz Khan', as well as from other historical sources.
This portrait was used by authors of the video without Yenikeiev's permission and without telling where the portrait came from. This portrait is published on the cover of G. R. Yenikeiev's book ‘Forgotten heritage of the Tatars’: see: payhip.com/b/Xujb
For the first time this portrait was published on the cover of the third book by G. R. Yenikeiev ‘In the footsteps of the black legend’ (published in 2009), see its electronic version: payhip.com/b/DNdC
This ‘creativity’ of the official historians is called among the decent people as plagiarism - that is, as theft.
Islam is foreign to the Turkic peoples, as Semitic religion together with Christianity and Judaism.
Turks are not from Sem in any way!
Modern Tengrists oppose Islam, Christianity and Judaism as Semitic religions imposing a foreign religion to the Turks. And, according to some ones, by praying to the god of Islam the Turkic peoples would give their energy to the Jews and not to themselves.
It excludes the experiences of other nations, but offers Semitic history as if it were the history of all humanity. The principle of submission (both in Islam as well as in Christianity) is disregarded as one of the major failings. It allows rich people to abuse the ordinary people and makes human development stagnant.
Prayer from the heart can only be in native language, not Arabic.
Aron Atabek draws attention to how the Islamization of the Kazakhs and other Turkic peoples was carried out: runic letters were destroyed, physically persecuted shamans, national musical instruments were burned and playing on them was condemned...
@@robertomassa731 Well, you just don’t know much yet - the Tatars have a different, early Islam, and not obscurantist late medieval one. And this religion was combined among the Tatars - as it is now - with other Monotheisms due to the tolerance of the Tatars and the principles of the Great Yasu.

I'm sorry if I am negative, but what you wrote in your first comment is full of fantasies...
If you are a Muslim I can understand how you see the world and history as Islamic... but it's not true.
PS: just a reminder... Genghis Khan killed thousands if not millions of Muslims when he went to Khwarezm!!!
Jai Hinduja. Genghiz Khan carried out a complete genocide of the Tatar tribe in Mongola.
@@tedchandran whoa, whoa, don't make me laugh. It's clear that you know too little about it.
You just repeated a propaganda fairy tale-dogma, composed by the enemies of the native people of Chingiz Khan.
Lots of historical sources of different times and of different nations, whose authors knew Chingiz Khan and his native people well, call them 'Tatars'.
The clansmen of Chingiz Khan also called themselves 'Tatars', 'the Tatars people'. Learn it in the works of independent historian Gali Yenikey.
