Hey guys, I wasn't expecting so many positive comments from you. A big "thank you" from my side. ✌Yet still feel free to point out what should be done better
I admit I’m not enough of a lore buff to comment on the accuracy of your models, but they certainly look at least as quality as the Clone Wars models. The sound design, though, is absolutely pristine. Each hyperspace exit, the sound of the turrets rotating, even the fighter engine noises are perfectly measured for impact. The Venators sound like proper massive ships groan-slamming back to normal space, the turrets sound as heavy as they look, and the fighters get that electronic whooshing that’s so iconic down pat. Had I closed my eyes and had someone tell me this was a clip from one of the official series I’d have absolutely believed it.
Problem is that the ARC-170 was a mixed-role heavy fighter. Too slow to win most dogfights against dedicated attack fighters, and not heavy enough to properly fulfill the role of a bomber against more heavily-armored targets. It was a jack-of-all-trades, master of none. The biggest weakness of the ARC-170 was its speed: it was very sluggish for a fighter-type starship. In dogfights, speed is essential, and lacking it will result in your death. It could barely hold its own against Vulture Droids, and stood no chance against the likes of the Tri-Fighter, which regularly slaughtered ARC-170's in great numbers. There's a reason the Republic started to replace them with V-Wings more and more, gradually shifting to a V-Wing/Y-Wing dual-pronged setup, as each ship covers the other's weaknesses perfectly and are purpose-built, role-intended starships that do their jobs masterfully.
@@sergeantassassin3425 Speed is not the most essential in dogfights, maneuverability is. Dogfights are also overvalued. I will never... NEVER be able to unsee them looking like Jar Jar's head!!
..... thanks lol.....
God, I love the Republic ship designs.
absolutely excellent
I got locked tf in watching that POV of the starship coming out of hyperspace and just sliding into position at those speeds. To get a view from so far away, then cover that distance almost instantly, run up on a whole ass wall of a Venator and decelerate perfectly into a safe position that's still eeriely close to the behemoth and knowing that 20 other fighters are doing the same thing and popping up right next to you with zero actual collisions ❤
That's a feeling right there. Had me ready to go!
