  • The float from Marble to Marshall Ford on the Kings River is one of the most scenic floats in Arkansas. It definitely has some of the coolest bluffs you'll find, including the majestic Kendall Bluff. This is an 11 mile float that is an easy one, with the exception of having to portage around a low-water bridge. If you're considering this float, be sure to check that part out at the 17:52 mark.
    Also, don't miss our stop at Kendall Bluff around the 7:53 mark. For all the details, directions, coordinates, and tips on this float, check out our blog article here:

    Your videos are always so helpful when planning big out of state trips. Really wanting to do this one!

      @GatewoodBrown thank you my friend! Glad you like it. Not sure if I mentioned it, but you can overnight this river. Just check with the local outfitters on acceptable private property areas for camping. Also, I have a video coming up soon that you're gonna like. Rush to the White River on the Buffalo (2-nighter), and featuring the Remote Designs 60L Dry Duffel!

      @@AROwnBackyard this is great river beta! I see you went at 5.9’, is that where you like to see the guage? Those bluffs look 80% the way there with out all of the Buffalo filming restrictions! We did Ponca to Pruitt last weekend and loved it. Can’t wait to watch your film too!

      @@GatewoodBrown oh man, Ponca to Pruitt is probably my favorite stretch! Especially Ponca to Kyle's Landing. But I'm not familiar with the filming restrictions you mentioned. What's that? Do you mean for drones? As for the King's....I would say 5.5 to 6.0 for THIS section. As the level decreases, there are stretches further down river that are fine. I've not done those yet though. From what I understand, this section and maybe the section after this, are the most scenic.

      @@AROwnBackyard thanks man I’ll keep those flow rates in mind. It goes beyond drones but because it’s a national park you have to get a bunch of permits if the video you’re making ends up on UA-cam. Very, very dumb. They basically made commercial filming regulations apply to anyone posting to social media

      @@GatewoodBrown whaaaaaat???? Man, I've never heard of those regulations! I've got quite a few videos of the Buffalo River on my channel. I'm going to ask around to some of my outdoors blogging friends on that. Also, I don't think it is a National Park just yet. Still just a National River, to my knowledge. They are working on National Park status though. I could be way behind on that, but I think that's right.

    My brother and his wife invited me to go with them to the Kings for a fresh-caught and huge crawdad stream side feed. I don't know where on the river it was. A low water bridge created a broad, knee-deep, gravelly expanse where we waded out with sticks wrapped with nylon hose and baited with bacon. We'd go out to check the stakes from time to time. It takes boldness and craft to grab the critter before it darts off. We had a very nice boil-up and repast, there on the soft gravel.
    My brother has told me of the time he and his friend were float fishing the Kings in a canoe. Somehow, my brother inflicted a fairly deep cut on his hand with a filet knife. He was bandaged up when he got to the take-out.
    I'm floored to learn that the Kings could be so transcendent. So utterly valuable.

    I heard about Kendall last year and saw some pics and fell in love with it. We fished Kings last year but had been given the wrong information about which section it was on. Found out while paddling from other paddlers that we were on wrong section 😡 😂
    Going this year good Lord willing. Great video man…. ✌️ 🙏 🛶
    Thanks for all the tips and heads ups concerning take out 👍

      Thanks brother! Yeah Kendall is a sight to see. Definitely worth a return trip. Hey, at least you got to hit the good fishing sections! Great smallmouth river.

    Curious if you know a sufficient level where we wont drag the whole time.

      @AROwnBackyard  2 роки тому +2

      It was 5.9 feet on the gauge when we went. I don't think I would do it at less than 5 feet

      @@AROwnBackyard Also, would you happen to know what parts of the year would have water levels in the 6 foot range?

    • @AROwnBackyard
      @AROwnBackyard  Рік тому +1

      @@bronsonguidry1744 we did it in early April, when it was close to 6ft. So I would say the best bet is going to be early Spring. But it really just depends on the rainfall. Any time of the year is possible with enough rain, as long as you're ready to go with a couple days of it raining. In the Summer, it will take a LOT of rain to reach that level. Remember, the Kings flows from south to north. So you need rainfall south of Marble and Kingston for the water to flow into this section.

    Nice video but could do without the music. The sound of the water and y’all talking would be more natural. Thanks.

    • @AROwnBackyard
      @AROwnBackyard  2 роки тому

      The parts where there's music are parts where nobody is talking...or the language is inappropriate. I think a lot of people would find a video this long a little boring without breaking it up a little. When I make a video, I don't do it with one single person in mind. Sorry. I do have other videos without music though.
