Carol Burnett looks exceptionally beautiful here. She’s correct that having a degree doesn’t necessarily make one intelligent. Unless they use the knowledge on a regular basis, most people forget what they learn in college. Some people drop out of college because don’t think they’ll be able to pay off the debt, especially if they pursue a subject that isn’t financially profitable. She’s also correct about hate mail. Trolls existed long before the invention of the internet, but the internet made it worse.

I read that Vicki Lawrence was discovered through a fan letter to Carol Burnett. Lawrence invited Burnett to a show and she showed up --in her third trimester!
Most it today’s stars would not likely read or reply to fan mail. Based on what stars endure from strangers on the Internet, I cannot blame them for limiting exposure and self-protecting.
Here’s to all the positive fans!

But also, famous people today have to be wary of stalkers; so, it can be dangerous to respond to fanmail.

If you didn't know who she was you wouldn't know from watching this clip that she's one of the most famous comedians ever. I've noticed this over and over with interviews of female comedians/comediennes, they tend not to be very funny off stage. Compared, for example to a Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, Johnathan Winters, Steve Martin in his prime, etc., they were always "on". Just an observation.

Didn't you listen to the interview? She mentioned the topic of college degrees and intelligence. She's in the entertainment industry. To assume the majority of entertainers have gone to college is ignorant. It's common knowledge that many of them didn't go to college which doesn't really matter anyway. Entertainers have natural abilities that can't be taught in college. They can be refined though. Also, you'd do well to revisit the definition of entitled.
