- Russia’s Defense Ministry has released a video showing the destruction of a US-supplied M1 Abrams tank to Ukraine near Avdiivka. A black-and-white clip shared by the ministry shows an anti-tank guided missile fired at a barely visible target, resulting in an explosion.
The strike rendered Abrams completely inoperable, with wheels and tracks missing and the compartment for the crew completely burned out.
The incident marks the first Abrams tank captured by the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine, as reported by the Russian Defence Ministry.

It's not the tank itself that makes it a game changer. It's the U.S. Military's strategic use of them. If you just drive it out into a field with no naval or air force cover, then yeah a RPG can blow it up....
These are export tanks...no reactive armor, none of the high end targeting gear and definitely no US crews or commanders. As a reminder, Russia is throwing their 'elite' first line troops and equipment in the mix and getting their asses handed to them.

It has to do with the quantity of these bomb drones coming at you. The small drones are smaller than planes and most missiles and even with lasers or miniguns, you aren’t guaranteed to stop them all. The bomb drones are also cheaper than the missiles or ammunition used to try and shoot them down. Some do get shot down, but the defenses are not foolproof and often some still get their target.
Pentagon clarified that this is not Abrams tank but its cousin 'Isaac' tank.

It seems most equipment on either side is at risk in this new drone era. This M1 is only one of a few that have been taken out, which is not what the Russians will tell their people. I suspect the Russian people have no idea about the actual Russian tank losses, which are in the thousands. I'd love to see a one on one battle between the M1 and the T90, which is what the M1 was made for.
