Good lord this fan was dirty. Great job ty for showing us what to do if we need to clean this expensive fan. Before disassembling anything I do I grab some old nail polish my daughter left at my house. Use the colors with the screws and side of where they screw in so I know which screws go to what. Cut up a bunch of package boxes down to where I can stick all the screws in so I dont lose them. This saves the headache of what screw goes to what and not having a few screws left over that was suppose to go somewhere. I learned my lesson when I took a laptop apart lol.
You are the first person I saw that said to take apart the motor by just hitting it with a hammer! Thank you so so much for your help. Somehow there were screws loose in my motor and I got them out by following your instructions. Cheers!
I know what you mean especially as high price these fans are. Knowing me if there is no mesh on the vents I probably would take apart and put some spongy mesh there to capture any particles. Unfortunately I would have to clean them all the time to keep this fan clean.
i wrap the intake holes with a filter (not the dense type that impedes airflow but the cotton-like ones you use in aquariums that's fluffy with lots of air gaps), works surprisingly well without reducing airflow too much so it's very usable. when it gets dirty i just rinse the filter, dry it and use it again.
I have one, never attempted to clean it and after watching this I’d be scared to death of trying. One thing I can say is I’ll never buy another one when it fails. Great video for people who are more technical than me.
I have the same fan, mine has been on for 10 yrs straight, my bearings are shot, I'm trying to find a replacement motor. I'm going to do the same procedure, and use transmission oil. Hope it works.
You can use a long radiator brush to clean the loop but I would not recommend hitting the motor head with a hammer as you will risk damaging the motor itself.
This is the main reason why I held off buying the Dyson blade-less fans.... the cleaning!! it's great technology but in the long run, its a great pain to clean. I live on an island with very high humidity and this will not be a great buy at all even with bi-monthly cleaning.
I will definitely pass on one of these fans. I have a 2000s cool breeze pedestal fan that doesn't need tools to clean. Just a little 3 in 1 oil and a cleaning and it still runs today. No tools required.
A fan shouldn't be this complicated to clean! Especially when it costs more than an air conditioner. Sadly Dyson has gone the way of Panasonic and Samsuck. Expensive, cool & nice looking products that don't last.
Now I know why my $250 Dyson fan does not work. This company went for profit only without any regard for durability or easy maintenance. I hate to admit that I was sucked in, but I certainly was. Around the same time that I shelled out $250 for the fan, one of my daughters bought a $600+ vacuum for me. It lasted about 2 years. I called a local vacuum repair shop. The owner said his shop was full of Dysons. Crappiest engineering ever.
I know, a third comment on a 2-year-old thread, but I just had to say. Dyson engineering is all marketing and little followthrough. Sure they make a cool fan, but how about toolless maintenance and low cost. I don't know about you but that doesn't look like $500 worth of parts and all filters should be easily cleanable without disassembly. Full disclosure, we have 2 fans and that outrageously expensive blow-drier.

Thanks. I really enjoyed watching you clean your Dyson.
If Dyson really wanted a perfect fan, he should have added an air filter! I would think that had crossed his mind at one point!

They make ones with a filter called dp04
There is one, its 100 smackers pricier than this one
This isnt even a good fan, let a lone a perfect fan lmao
Thanks for the walk through! My fans nice and clean now
Thank you for taking the time to show us this👍🏻

Awsome. Thank you for videoing this. I have the same model but with a blue ring and all the inside pieces were exactly the same. Very easy to follow.
Thank you so much for this!
thank you teddy. this helped a lot disassemble the AM07 tower
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to make it.
Thank you so much mate , I took it apart then forgot to realise I had to put it back together after cleaning out my dust 😂
Thanks Teddy. Worked a dream
Thank you. It is a very useful video.
Thank you, this was of great help to me
Wow Now is CLEAN!!! Bravo
Thank you so much for making this video!!
Great help, cheers!
Thanks for this good post

Are you a Dad?, You would be the best kind of Dad. My Dad was like that and I would like to hope I am too.
Was this fan running in a dusty shop, or just your average room? Cuz holy shit.
this can't be serious.. would you clean mine too? lol

Can you do a video replacing the power cord?
Man that thing was nasty, I just got one on Craigslist for 25.00, i don't think its any where near as dirty as that one, just a tiny bit of dust
I think the new Pure Cool/Pure Hot+Cool with the hepa filters should alleviate these kinds of buildup issues...hmm
shit really did hit the fan this time. literally..
Repairing and cleaning is definitely a lost craft with newer generations. Thanks for the help!
That's discusting, was the Dyson in house full of heavy smokers & they had 15 cats 25 dogs and they did'nt own a vacuum ?
The fan clearly ran with no filter
for a while
This model doesn't come with a filter.

It's not fan working principle of vaccum cleaner

I beg to differ, we've had a Dyson AM06 for over 8 years now and never once took it apart to clean, still an amazing fan and works as good as new.
This is a am1 that's the first generation, these issues don't apply to later models. I hope your hvac cost more than $300

Crappiest engineering ever.
At what point do you just.. you know, buy a less evil fan to clean so you aren't spending an entire day doing this

It's so tedious to clean this fan, and paying a high price for it!!
What a piece of turd... useless invention that adds more work and complication.
