Scotland is so great! It's one of the best travel destinations. I love it. The nature is beautiful and so are the cities and castles. Also, in August it might not even be rainy and gloomy. And if it is, it will be a nice change in comparison to LA. Also, after you've done that flight, going to Vancouver will be so easy. If you're in Scotland, you can go to beaches and collect stuff you can't find in the US. They also probably have birds you don't see over there. Also, Nessi. That's worth it alone for the Twilight jokes. You already have the passport anyway, the hard part is done, Jen will come with you and Ashley will help you with the flight. You'll be so proud of yourself and so will we and probably your girlfriend and definitely Ashley.

Edinbourgh is nice ! It is a bit crowdy since it is a festival, but only in a few streets :) The castle is pretty impressive ! And as a former Parisian, I would say you'd rather start Europe with Edinbourgh than Paris (which is really NOT like in Emily in Paris). The countryside is beautiful though, in France as well as in the UK or Scotland

Highland cows. Old Town Edinburgh has some sick architecture and stories, contrasted with New Town Edinburgh, hop on a tour bus to get a great experience. Check out Mary Queen’s Close for some sick history, and there’s so many buskers around there at Fringe, it’s awesome, you can even find their time slots and locations online. Food is great, if you know where to go. Lots of diversity, not just old British food
