Love the fact that you younger people are using CB!!! Thats a GOOD THING!!
I was born in 82 and only got into CB because it was the cheapest/best value/simplest option available in Canada for off road coms. Since then I've gotten more interested in it in general. Its sketchy old AM signal quality and the old school aesthetic of a lot of cb units have a certain charm to them that more modern options lack.
I've been on the CB on and off since the late 1970's, I must say it brings joy to my heart to see younger adults discovering CB radios. I would love to see it take of again and become popular like it used to be. Too much hassle and drama and social media. Citizens Band (CB) the original and fun social media without all the politics.
In 2010 i was playing with one of these and in mistake i got into a gov freq i think for police or fire department, and i got scared then after that i never used it again
Cobra lobbied the FCC to expand the CB frequency to FM.
I'm in Orlando and I can't find anyone using it. They've all moved over to GMRS because of the free Repeaters
I feel the same way about vinyl records.
Growing up I was too young to really understand or enjoy CB radios but since I got my RoadKing classic CB I've become fond of it driving or parked always nice to listen to or partake in the jolly banter over the airwaves
She a keeper!with that smile. Never go wrong!
when the 'end of the world" happens. ONLY CB, HAM, GMRS will be working. Goodbye Cell phone, internet
And PMR446?
@@dragosb08 isn't that something german-only?

Yea, but I’m not gonna have any juice to power my cb or truck.
Most lovely youtuber’s wife ever
Been driving Tractor Trailers for 43 years and don't leave without it, also have them in my 4 wheelers as well as a base station in the house, in my opinion this has always been a very valuable tool for traveling. Thanks!
You’re clearly from a different part of the country than I am. Here in the south it’s an 18 wheeler lol. What do you mean by 4 wheeler? That’s what we call an atv I’m assuming you mean something like an off road truck😂
@@crestonlukemartin9271In trucker lingo, a 4 wheeler is any 4 wheeled passenger vehicle (as opposed to an 18 wheeler, as you mentioned)
That was awesome! Now that's a super rare reaction from a significant other when it comes to radio! Nice install and a sweet little radio!
Was on vacation (first day) with my family chatting with a few truckers, when the car started to overheat, told the truckers I was having engine problems and was going to pull over to the side of the road, next thing I know 2 18 wheelers pulled up behind me,they pulled the bad thermostat out,I was on my way in 20 minutes,cb saved the day.
I'm not doubting your story here, just the time line. In these last 15 years , number one ,you'd be hard pressed to find 2 drivers that have a radio and have it actually turned on. Number 2 in the last fifteen years you'd be way more likely to be ran over by two semis than have them stop to assist anyone much less a 4 wheeler..
When big trucks still had three pedals, were not solar powered as to only run in daylight and truck drivers were real truckers , those days I could picture a couple real people offering help.
Nowadays , IF a trucker has a radio. IF said radio is actually turned on and IF said driver speaks and understands the English language, said dtiver is easily 10 feet tall bullet proof and knows everything about anything and ain't too scared of pulling his 64 mph truck into the path of any and every vehicle out there that can do the speed limit.
Either way. Stay safe out there and watch out for the other guy because he's probably watching TV while he's driving.
I didn't expect that! Lol Cool wife.
She should pick up an 8 foot whip and a power mike to walk the dog.
CB radio are coming back thanks to you.
Haha, my parents never bought me walkie talkies as a kid. Now I have a problem. 😂
@@1RoadGarage i wanna see you enjoy the hobby. They make quick connects for thru hole mounts. A different antenna will make all the difference in the world
🤟🏻💯
Coming back? Wishful thinking.
@@jeffsor47 There's obviously a market for them as they keep being manufactured and developed. But I believe it's also quite regionalized. In some places,. there's a decent amount of local traffic...in most other places, nearly non-existent. It will never see the popularity that it once had, but I believe 11 meters will always have a niche following.
I had a CB in the seventies and this brings back memories. Awesome!!
I had one in the 70's... I still use mine.
I was on mine yesterday only one person on it and talked to him but he was in the weeds!
@@sahhull Although I never use any of the radios I have amassed over the years since Citizen Band radio band was first enacted by the FCC back in late 1957, I have had them, then graduated to Ham radio in the mid 60's. I lost interest in both bands around 1987 That was because at that time CB was starting to die off in popularity and Ham antenna structures laws were being passed in urban situations banning large antenna arrays especially subdivisions. I only use GMRS walkie talkies during deer hunting season only to ask hunting partner for help in case of accident or help in tracking the game if a bad shot had been made.
@@Nortekj here in the UK, CB was legalised in 1981. Never bothered with ham, I'm also one of the few that has no interest in DXing.
My Son bought a house to flip and I now have 6 CB radios to play with ! And yeah the last time I had one was in the 70's!
My wife said we should spend more time talking, so I installed a CB in her car!😆
I'm stealing this....thanks
And when she's out of range you won't have to listen to her anymore. FRS and MURS is even better.
@@AMD1 LOL
Haha funny
dude....that is hilarious. I am stealing this as well. I can't stop laughing!!!!!! I might have to install a short antenna so she gets out of range quick :)
As a cb/ham radio user with many "trials and errors" under my belt, the microphone velcro isn't going to hold. Potholes/bumpy roads and summer heat will make it fall. (The little amount of glue on that velcro in the summer heat will loosen up.) The rest of the install is great and I'm glad she likes her radio. It looks like the CB radio addiction has started, wait until you discover amateur/ham radios! Now you just need a base station cb in the house. (Get one with SSB so you can talk "skip" on channel 38 LSB.) I hope you two have fun with the radios!
You are a very lucky man to have a wife that shares your hobby with such excitement. I wish I could say the same in my case. 73s to you and yours
You HAM as well?
Fake reaction.
I love how Excited she was... 👍
Free attention from the SIMPs - who wouldn't be ! 😁👏
You are a lucky man, my wife would kill me if I put any radio in her car. LoL
Just wait and see one day when cell goes out, they will think differently.
Same 🤣
Your wife is a stunner....well played Sir you have a fine woman there. Who wouldn't like a CB radio being installed in their car! Good job....now you can call her on her way home and ask her to stop off at the 7-11 and buy some beers. Of course that works both ways. 😅
Awesome vid my dude! I'm a driver myself, and recently installed CB's in both my personal vehicles as well. Happy trucking! Keep the shiny side up out there.
I've got one of these in my van. Lots of cool features. I'm using a Wilson 500 and getting good range. Here's the deal though, it comes from the factory with the xmit power set at about 2.6 watts. I got into the service menu and raised it to about 3.9 watts, that's all it will do. I left the modulation alone. Other than that, there are no adjustments internally. There are very few traditional transistors, mostly surface mounted chips. To access the service menu, turn radio off. Hold down CB/WX, EMG, and PTT then turn the radio on. You will now be in the service menu. PL is your xmit power. PL goes from 1 to 145. 145 will get you just under 4.0 watts which is FCC legal power. I easily get 10 miles, mobile to base . Make sure you tune your antenna to the lowest possible SWR (I'm sure you already know that but your viewers may not)so your radio isn't damaged by reflected xmit power and have fun!
THIS comment is THE real value of this video! Thanx!
Your wife seems great.
I'm glad she was happy with it.
I love the President Bill cb. I did the 20 watt mod and the used the service menu to pump up the wattage and the modulation as well.
A CB radio is always good to have to get information on traffic and road conditions especially during the winter, I have one in my vehicle and it helped me take alternate routes going to and from work when the interstate is blocked or closed from accident or bad winter weather conditions.
That's odd as I've been a truck driver for over 20 years and thr CB was never helpful not even once. You can ask what the weather is like ad you get 50 different answers. But at least the roger beeps are plentiful.
@@jamesm568 I've been a truck driver for 30 years and it has been helpful especially during the winter over the mountain passes here in WA.
@@jasonbabila6006 I'm in washington state as well. I'm a four wheeler and I use the cb all the time for the same reason.
@@jamms992 Great I live in Cle Elum, when the WSDOT closes I-90 between Cle Elum and Ellensburg due to wrecks and incidents especially during the winter, I can listen in on what's going on and take highway 10 and leave home to go to work around 5 am

Strong magnet and steel plate, both glued to surfaces and it will be nicer than velcro.
That’s a really good idea!
@@1RoadGarage YA, But every damn thing is plastic, would ruin the plastic if ever taken off, FREGGIN PLASTIC NOT MY 68'S & 69 CAMARO'S.
Perhaps put magnet or steel behind the dash panel. If it's not too thick, it may still work.
put a 90 degree fold in a strip of metal, painted to match the dash of course, then mount to the little shelf with the folded part sticking out for hanging the handset.
Love my President Bill FCC! The size is a huge win, and the performance is excellent for what it is. The speaker is a bit too small for the road noise I have in my vehicle, but mine is old and probably not as quiet inside as her Envoy. That's a nice clean install!
You need to have wifey in more video's. I have the President Bill and love it.
If she was my sweetheart, I'd give her Anything she could possibly imagine in life. Even on a bad day, her smile is priceless. I'll give u a million dollars if you wanna have a better life.
relax,relax......
Anytime someone shows their wife on a UA-cam video, all the basement dwellers invade the comment section. Gross dude
Great video!....I have driven truck across country for over 22 yrs and i think its a great thing to have CB's in a car so we can all communicate with each other while driving....Again great video!!!👍
Thanks!
woah, thanks a lot! epic coffee time inbound.
Midland 75-822 is a smaller self contained CB radio built into the handset. It also included an add-on battery pack and rubber antenna to convert it to a portable handheld CB radio. I keep one in a road trip travel pack.
4:42 The Velcro "loops side" swatch even has the same color and horizontal-ridges pattern/texture as the plastic dash-panel where you stuck it on. :)
Ladies like CB's because they can use them in an emergency. It's good to have a back up in case your phone battery dies or cell phone service goes down. I used a CB when the power went out once.
Cb saved my butt when I was in DC on 911. Saw a guy with an antenna and called ch 19 and he had us follow him to get out of the city because most exits were shut down.
Nice job, I'm glad she liked it.
Haha, me too!
Glad to see you BOTH using CB Radios!
Awesome!
Love your channel!!!
Good video now that you have the CB in her Vehicle USE IT !!!
I drive Semis for a living and you NEVER KNOW when you are going to have to use it to get out of Traffic Jams or an Accident or wreck up ahead of you and you're ALWAYS informed of what's going on around you
On the plus side Jimmy, if you do get in trouble with your wife you always got the suburban to sleep in no worries about the dog house haha.
LOL acting when she looked over and immediately recognized it -- but well done / great install - way to keep CB alive
Yeah I’ve gotta get one of these. I didn’t have any room in my trailblazer for one but now I do!
Great little radio. I love mine. I recommend the mic upgrade. $50, it is from President and has noise cancelling. Most importantly it sounds way better than the stock mic. Great woman for getting down! The new FM sounds great too!! Cheers!!
cb is very fun. the picture to the left is the cb radio that i have in my office here in midtown Manhattan. I just bought the President Randy to carry while I walk around the city.
Met girls on the CB sometimes, back in the day, some had nice smiles, but not one ever looked as pretty as that smile on your wife. Nice video.
I love this couple. They're adorable.
Beautiful, oh and the cb is nice too👍🏿😁

President Bill, Must be designed after "Slick Willie's" little willie, paired up with a "Lil Wil", roflmao. No pun intended anywhere here. Love it.
I am a ham radio operator but I thought an old-school CB would be useful. I got the Commander mini from Radiology. It was around $50. It was also very small.
I Think You Meant Radioddity.
told my 10 yr old daughter about CB radios, i couldn't find one at pawn shops, she quickly look and found an app, she thought it was cool, told it ain't the real thing. now i can get one. Thanx
How blessed are you. Man! Way to go Jim
Very cool discovery ,THANKYOU for this video similar to your CD storage area I drive a older Chevy 3500 Dually Duramax truck that has a Conversion package on it similar to the way they did many vans my truck has a overhead console that came with a built in radar detector and garage door opener I think I can remove those and fit that President CB in it’s place which is better for me as I do use my truck for pulling campers and boats on the highways and it’s a better way to communicate with the truckers as well as often I travel with freinds and family in other vehicles I have been hoarding small and portable CB radios I find really cheap online and swap meets I like the compact GE Help ones that are self contained ina nice little case with a magnetic antenna BTW your wife is both Beautiful and Adorable with a great personality and smile
The Uniden PRO 520 is the crowd pleaser. RF Gain and most functions are knobs. I like ceiling mounted radios and long antennas.
Awesome video and your wife is super adorable!!!!
Genial este video !! saludos a los dos desde Andorra !!!!
I have always had a Cobra Classic radios. I have never installed them into my vehicles. I only use the radio when going on long road trips. So I just simply place the radio on the floor, under the driver's seat, with the speaker facing up, after tuning it properly and setting it to channel 19. I have always used a magnetic mount K40 antenna. When I am done with my trip, I just take the radio and antenna out of the car and store them on the garage shelf for use next time I go on the road. I do this because I prefer to rent a vehicle, rather than putting all those miles on my personal vehicle. Financially it makes sense to rent a vehicle if you are planning to put over 800 miles on it.
very nice install neat and clean now try in your suburban a President McKinley sideband radio.. I've got one and been telling to the UK all week long
You guys are awesome. CB radio is a great idea.

Cute couple, cute reaction!! Great wife!!!
Oh but for the days of discovery of the 1970's CB explosion! When it WAS actively "controlled" by the FCC. Now, about the 'President Bill', is this an insinuation as to the "size" of Slick Willie's toolset??? LOL!

This is awesome! My wife won’t let me install either a CB radio or GMRS radio. I have a Uniden Pro520XL (instead of my old Cobra 29 LTD) with a Tram 300 antenna and a Midland MXT275 GMRS micro mobile with their Ghost 3db gain antenna (it’s about the size of a salt shaker) in my vehicle. Both are great for tight spaces. Wife is adorable.

Awesome couple, great job !
Fun video, thanks! Great way to communicate locally.
Awesome!!! 2 thumbs up Jimmy!!!
Awwwwws, that was sweet!
That's a lot better reaction than I got from my mom when I was 17, too!
She went to work and there was a 5' fiberglass antenna on a chimney strap.
When she came home - after I had a friend come by during her shift that day - to find a 5' Radio Shack TV mast mounted in the Radio Shack chimney strap mount, and a full blown 18' Solarcon (Antron) A-99 on top of the house.
I found myself quite grounded, basically for the rest of the summer and until I moved out the following summer when I turned 18.
Thankfully I got my HAM License just after my 18th birthday and I could do anything I pretty much wanted at MY place! (Or so I thought... But that's another story!)
so whats the other story
@@degenerals6127
Sadly, being that was 8 months ago that I wrote the above "essay", I really have no recollection as to what I was thinking about when I wrote it.
I do recall that my first roommate in my first place got his HAM license quite a while after I did, but in his haste to do something to get on the air, he got with one of our mutual friends that is a HAM and LIED and said he had permission to mount a 2 meter vertical beam directly to the peak of the roof framing of our RENTAL house.
That, of course, did NOT go over well with our landlord, nor my late uncle the (at the time) supposed "caretaker" of both his and my property, and I ended up get QUITE the chewing out session.
So, deflecting the blame back onto that idiot roommate - where it squarely belonged anyway since I wasn't home for the atrocity - my uncle and I climbed up and removed the beam antenna and filled in the screw holes and painted over the filling.
A few hours later the idiot returned, discovered his antenna quite obviously missing from its perch, and "got into it with me" about that was "his property" and I "have no right to do anything to it or move it or tamper with it..." and I reminded him that he absolutely did not have permission to do such an installation in the first place, and that in order to avoid my own self being evicted (I couldn't have cared any less for him at that point because that wasn't the first issue we'd had and wasn't going to be the last I found out soon enough) my uncle had stepped in with the landlord and said that he and I would take it down and repair any holes - which we did.
Well, this bit of strife caused daily crap between he and I to the point that he actually threatened me and I threw him out quite unceremoniously and humiliated him in front of his father and several of our formerly-mutual friends (now they're MY friends only after they discovered the truth of what he was. The ones that are still alive, that is.)
So, yet another lesson learned about "doing what you want because you want to" even if you think "It's my house, I do what I want." Even today, I understand that there are responsibilities and liabilities for every action. You can't just "do what you want" in EVERY situation and expect it all to turn out ok.
Gee. I didn't think I was going to write this much!
Oh man I love it, you guys so adorable and I congratulation and happy for you not getting trouble with your wife. I am falling in love with this small CB-radio. I live in a big city. Probably, I not going to need it much. But why not, who knows one day you I might need them. It looks cool. Also, I am going to recommend to all my friends. Thanks, 1ROAD and allow me to support your channel.

I found an old hand held CB in the garage yesterday and bought batteries for it today and I got the same response as you did and I live next to the 10. I guess cell phones are in and CB's are out.
