I can see why artists always asked to have him back for writing sessions. Not just because of his talent, but because of his demeanor. He seems like a really cool guy to work with.
Absolutely loved every second of this! Justin seems like so much fun to be around and his honesty and openness about all this is refreshing. We need more people like him!!
I think its important to know who these songwriters are because Justin Tranter probably has 10 billion plus streams on his back and not a lot of people know that. Love this series sm
So Important! The hope with this series is to shine a light on the people behind the wall we don't get to hear from as much and if we can add a few thousand people to that list, we are that much closer to showing the world Justin Tranter and so many others! Also, 24 billion streams on Spotify alone for Justin :) (but when I felt like adding it up one day, and it's probably grown since)
Appreciate you - at the end of the day, if we can add a few thousand more people to know who Justin Tranter is, we've made the impact we're striving for! The goal is to shine a light on all the people who are usually behind the scenes and I appreciate you for helping our goal become a reality with Justin Tranter
@@DanielsWallI know what you mean, I didn't know Max Martin until I saw the jukebox musical "&Juliet" that showcases his work. Thanks for revealing another "man behind the curtain" to me
Sooooo cool! I always wanted to be in the industry, but never wanted it that bad that I worked at it. Seeing the scoops from writers and singers has always been a favorite pastime. Thank you for this!
I got a lot of good information here as far as advice for songwriters. Justin was detailed with the tips and being it’s through experience, it was cool of him and helpful. Cool guy. Great interview!
Thank you for this interview. What a wonderful and in-depth insight into the songwriting industry. I learned a ton of invaluable stuff from this interview.
It’s ironic that the Audio on this songwriter interview is so bad, the echo is unbearable and he is rubbing the microphone the whole time, which is additionally irritating
Im so thankful for the internet when it comes to showing people theres room for all kinds of artists in this music and entertainment world. Most people would never know theres a guy out there like this guy or that there are people who strictly write but dont perform music etc etc, or that some musicians just work in a studio but never outside that setting etc.
Yooo daniel this helps such so much dude. As an aspiring artist these videos are gem bro. I can't wait to watch more from you. Great video man love you brother.
I'm a new topliner and songwriter. 2 things I know are true. 1. Your series connects me with so many REAL working artists. I don't really know anyone in the industry so this helps a lot. 2. One day you'll interview me and I'll give you a big hug and thank you for being honest and keeping things real in an industry where it seems like no one actually knows anything about anything.
amazing interview dude! super interesting to get to know these insights from a songwriter legend. really resonates with me as an artist. keep up the good work!!
I’m just catching up to this series, and it is phenomenal! From one music nerd who checks the credits to another, Daniel, thank you for making these videos!
This video was not only informative, so interesting, Justin is beyond engaging. I work in marketing (entertainment) so it's awesome to see music side of things. Interview flew by so at 25 min I was not ready for last two questions. I would have listened for another hour. Amazing interview! Great job all!
@@DanielsWallyes!! Keep doing the amazing job you’re doing! You not only listen but ask awesome questions and your genuine spirit shines through. Thank you!!
Would love to hear you interview mixing (like Manny Marroquin, Serban Ghenea) and mastering engineers (Bob Ludwig, Emily Lazar) and the business side of their craft. :)
It makes me so happy that one of the biggest songwriters in the whole industry did rock bands instead of "DJ Hell" - I really hope rock keeps slowly finding new audiences again.
I would love to sit down with Justin, especially because we have a lot of music industry in common. I feel like sooooo much was missed through what was happening
300 million streams = $6k 😞Daniel can you do a video follow up on the law that was past to increase the revenue artists make on streaming. Sad that all the other big streaming companies appealed the increase. Streaming for all songwriters is just a disaster from a salary perspective. Tech corporate companies are so greedy & take advantage of the sensitive nature that songwriters have. Its fascinating that most revenue is still generated on old school radio. Justin is so open & honest here & very generous with the information he's offering, great interview
Love this whole series... can you just be more careful with the lav mic placement? The constant scratching was giving me ear sadness! Keep up the amazing insights and interviews!
Love this series Dan! If you run your audio though the Adobe Podcast Enhance tool it will most likely save the audio even if the lav failed. Hope this is helpful! Keep it up!
I love this series! but please fix the lav mic placement, the noise from your chain and Justin’s shirt is pretty distracting. Other than that The content and information is awesome!
Amazing videos Daniel as always, your interviews are perfects!! Any chance you could interview RedOne in the future? He's a huge songwriter/producer (Lady Gaga, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, and many more), he's so inspiring!
Appreciate you Lunaar! 100% would love to meet and chat with RedOne in the future!!! Let me know if there's any cool stories or fun facts about him as well. :)
Amazing! His life is a beautiful story, he left his family in Morocco to go to Sweden to pursue his dream, without any money, and years later after hard work, and sleeping on floors, he made few number one in Sweden, but it was just in Sweden, so his family and country wasn't really aware of his success, peoples didn't know his songs, so he decided to go to America to make it global, but he had to start from scratch again, so, RedOne and his amazing wife went to America (with the money of Sweden hits), but it was so hard for him to get the trust from labels, nobody wanted to give him a chance! But after many years of struggle in America, he was close to giving up cause he didn't had enough money to survive any more months, so RedOne's wife told him "let's try 3 more month and if it doesn't work we go back to Sweden..." Thanks to his wife, he finally did a hit in America! This hit opened some doors for him, and then he met a girl (Lady Gaga), after talking to her for 10 minutes, the feeling between both was amazing, they decided to go to a studio session, and they ended up making "Lady Gaga - boys boys boys" this day, and a week later they booked another few studio session, first day they did "Just dance", second day "Poker Face", third day "Love game", each day was a number one! And then, everything happened for him! I'm sure he could inspire so many peoples in your community, with his amazing life, he's really amazing, happy person, positive person, he will give motivation and believe to everyone ❤ He's really making my life much more positive, since 13 years now, (i am his biggest fan haha, one day i'll meet him 🙏🤞)
If someone wants to get detailed info about the different types of royalties and how they work (numbers included), there is a book called "music money and success" by Jeff and Todd brabec. It explains in details all the type of royalties. Hope this helps 😊
Daniel, why no description on this video? You should at least have a short description with this guy's name in it. I also don't understand what people are saying about the audio, it sounds fine. Love your videos!
No wonder everyone thinks they're gay or trans and doesn't know their gender. This dude is writing everything they're listening to, must be why I hate anything mainstream. 😂
Great interview! Educational. I like the insight within the not as public world of music. Songwriter POV. I remember reading when TS & Big Machine had the performance conflict- re-recoding/performance issue. They said she owed label, but her PR followed up by saying an auditor was brought in & TS was owed $8mil in royalties. I wonder if anything was resolved. I read stream payments go to labels to distribute it among the parties. Labels also determine radio play/playlists & copyrights factor control. Probably why investment firms are buying up catalogs. TS two decade career (split between country & pop) is a fascinating case study. I was watching a video where Brandman & RB talk about the Music Business vs Music Industry- touched on radio, community & artist cost (15% cut) ua-cam.com/video/JGMcBk0MBuw/v-deo.html
