This Cinematic gains an entirely new terrifying undertone when you read Bel'veth's lore and find out this isn't even the void... This is the once city of Bel'Veth that was consumed in under an hour by the Emperess coming to being.... She sounds like so many voices because she does... She is the entire cities population, consumed into herself. Which is why she named herself after the once city. And the rest the limbs and fish, and eldrich formations are too. Her Lavender Sea she'll spread to the rest of Runterrra.
It has always been like that since the early beta. I was the unofficial "Emissary of the Void" (along with being an "Adjudicator") back in the day when we had forum titles. Shame they got rid of the forums and never gave us early players anything in return.
I love when riot does the creepy horror stuff like they definitely got a niche in it to be able to make so many people enjoy it and actually feel unnerved by what they created
Without spoiling anything, if y'all like this cinematic you might like the book "Annihilation" (the trilogy is also a movie now). This makes me want a Metroidvania, I'd love to explore the remnants of the city, Kai'sa already has a pretty hard Samus vibe. Serious Riot lets see a Metroidvania come out of the forge!
Too bad the vibe is the only thing Kaisa took from Samus. Void Samus was a much better visual concept, but they could have at least kept the self-preservation instinct Samus has. Or at least not have the written lore talk about a pragmatic survivalist who takes no chances and is initially feared by people for her inhuman looks(you know, indicating that she keeps her armor up until its safe even around people), and then in game and cinimaticts give us a put together british lady(from an area that does not have that accent) who just leaves off protective armor at every opportunity and isn't even ready to fight when the wall bulges and explodes into a flood of unknown entities. I love Samus, I love the void, but every time I start to like Kaisa they make sure to kill it by having her do something stupid, like take off her armor while falling into the void, with a bloodthirsty voidborn right on top of her. Why? Why would anyone make that decision when even the light and air of the void want you dead?
At first I thought the lip movements were off but seeing the reveal and how Bel'Veth is literally faking it because the voice doesn't actually come from there, it actually makes sense now and I love it.
I really recommend people read the story right after this... Cause after reading it, I think I might be in favor of working with her to defeat the watchers...
Evelynn would join the void and become a void azakana (A void azakana as champion would be so cool, like imagine playing a champion that has 2 or even more races. But not like Sett)
@@ubermaster134 Basically this. Evelynn, & also creatures like Fiddlesticks & Tahm Kench, are not azakan. They may have been azakana at one point, but they have long since acheived a higher existence of power & are no longer classified as azakana. They are now demons.
I love how this cinematic shows complete contrast against what the Watcher represents, The Watchers intended for the void and everything to be complete nothingness but you can see with Bel'veth that her version of the void is teeming with life. Kai'sa should've done the side quests first before going under-equipped on a Raid Boss battle.
I think after arcane they have to make kai'sas tv series. For example in first seson how she got here, then 1-2 seasons of her being in void and in last season her searching for her father (he will search for her too throught whole series) This animation style will be so good for this bc detailed void will look so breathtaking
She is perfect, everything I wanted her to be and more. I always have faith in Riot's art direction, but this is the coolest champ we've had in a long time.
This is incredible! Hopefully they will bring some void event just like they did with Odyssey, Doom Bots, Star Guardian, etc. Would be an amazing feature to be in a void corrupted summoner's rift or something like that.

There’s no way that she won’t have the “Lurk” keyword once she comes to LoR, since she not only resides in the Lavender Sea, but also the fact that her true form “lurks” beneath her more humanoid facade
@@ezreal1407 well that's exactly the point though, making more lurkers means more variancy in the archetype and stopping being prebuilt. It's the same with nightfall or daybreak, they should add more cards to make it have wider deckbuilding options
Nah i think "capture" would fir her better. All the hints of the lore points toward her "consuming" others to become a part of her. Maybe she gets a +1|+1 for every unit she captures. Or maybe she deals damage to the nexus based on how many she captured.
It's life in the same way WH40K Tyranids are life. Sure, they are alive and have some neat ecosystems going on, but the entire thing is heavily invasive and exists only to consume and destroy other ecosystems.
Well to be more accurate that is just void corruption on runeterra, unless they change the lore with her the void itself is literally that a void of nothingness where existence isn’t and sentience is not aware
The Void is the power of nothingness. The Voidborn are creatures who were affected by it, but refused to die. Bel'Veth is the progenitor of the Void, much like Viego is the progenitor of the Mists of the Shadow Isles. More than likely her origins are similar to his and the Shadow Isles, just on a much more massive scale.
I fell like there at least one hyped champion by year that end as the most popular and he is the one that receive the cinematic, in 2021 it was Viego, in 2020 it was Yone and in 2019 it was Senna
I'm curious how many people noticed this is a direct continuation of where the Call Music Video left Kai'Sa falling into the void tunnel after fighting the void creatures with Taliyah, quite interesting.

What's really great is that regardless of Bel's looks, Kai armored up and started blasting the second she made a threat. Fighting for so long down there gave Kai a shoot first attitude and I love it hahaha.
A wall exploded 5 feet away from her, releasing a flood of voidborn, and Kaisa didn't even put her helmet back on. They keep telling us she's a void forged survivalist, but the girl has no self presevation skills whatsoever.
Given the success of Arcane you know there's discussion about it. Do an Old Shurima season 1 (Xerath's betrayal of Azir) that leads into the Void in season 2, that leads into a modern Shurima Desert season 3.
@@Yvaelle Could literally make shows out of so many different story arcs. That would be amazing, but quality takes time of course. I'd like if they had different vibes too, from Arcane, depending on the setting. Like the Void could be more of a horror/suspense at times.
I think they could put in Void lore but it would NEED to be gritty and horror to work Like portray the downfall of Shurima and Icathia, what happened with Lissandra and Watchers and all that
All of leagues cinematics are so well done! I was really hoping to see Kassadin rift walk in, cut the hands holding her with his blade, then rift walk out. Saving Kai'sai and being like "We can't face her yet" or something.
The way Bel'Veth imitates humanity, yet not completely. The way she moves, recognizing that humans sway when they walk, and the way her mouth moves out of sync with the voice, like an angler fish luring prey, is deeply unsettling. The artists are inhuman.
Well, Arcane is a story that only takes place in a single divided city that’s situated on a relative “sliver” of land. Given the amount of other regions present in the game, Riot DEFINITELY has more than enough material to make at least several more shows/series

Glad to see someone else notice this.

Well to be more accurate that is just void corruption on runeterra, unless they change the lore with her the void itself is literally that a void of nothingness where existence isn’t and sentience is not aware

@@Scaileanna it might be that the void is nothingness but the parts next to reality has alot of "life" because bits of reality fell in.
