This is a requested review on my Louis Vuitton Speedy 25 with the Monogram Strap. Thank you @lchen0729 for requesting this video on my Instagram. This is how I use the strap occasionally on my bag so please bear in mind that if you use the strap in the same way demonstrated in this video then you are doing so at your own risk. I cannot guarantee there'll be no damage with use over time. I personally don't use the strap on my Speedy 25 that often and usually I don't carry a lot when I do.
Sorry about the constant change of lighting throughout the video. The day I filmed was really windy, so literally one minute it was bright and sunny, and the next really dark and cloudy. Some of the close-up shots were a bit over-exposed due to this, but I hope you still enjoyed the video.
If you're wondering about the light patina despite a bag purchased many years ago - it's because I have not used this bag very much and it has been stored away for many years until recently when I have been taking it out a lot more. The vachetta has obviously patina'd over the years even when stored away, but on camera it looks a little paler than in real life. I am always careful not to hold the bag with dirty hands and not take it out when it's raining. I've always preferred hands-free bags so the Speedy has been neglected over the years, but I have fallen in love again...

I have a Speedy 25 purchased in 1998 and I've carried it with a strap this exact way and it hasn't damaged the handles, the canvas or anything else. Now, I don't carry it daily by any stretch of the imagination! But after 21 years of moderate use, I think if it were going to damage the bag, it probably would've happened by now. I do have a question...how is your Vachetta leather so lovely after all these years? Mine needs a good cleaning. Thanks for the video!
I think older LVs last longer and are in better quality, so that's probably why we have been lucky enough to use the back with a strap like this. I don't do anything with my handles to be honest. I just use them like any other bag that doesn't have vachetta handles. I just make sure I don't grab the handles right after using hand cream and maybe because I wash my hands too often so no dirt really gets onto them. I do carry it on my arm a lot as well, which might have helped. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment =)

Just love how you insert closeups into your reviews with audio going in the background instead of forcing the camera to focus by sticking things close to the viewfinder :) I use a strap with my Speedy 25 too! Mine is full vachetta, and I also attach it on the inner sides for those hands-free emergencies. I agree that classic Speedy is prettier than Speedy B, and size 25 is tolerable for top-handle carrying, 30 needs a bandouliere though - it ends up being heavier. Love the patina, and such a great shape for 2002! Cute blooper at the end, fun to watch :)
need4speedy Hey lovely. Again, thanks for watching. I made the effort to teach myself video editing because I want it to be more interesting and clearer of what I'm trying to explain. It is (like you said) a little annoying when close-ups don't focus and you just have to wait until a clearer image appears on screen (and sometimes it doesn't altogether). Having a strap is so handy while still owning the classic Speedy. I am planning to get a Speedy B in 30 but not until later this year. Treating myself for Birthday ;) I'm glad you enjoy my videos. It means a lot to me. I will aim to make more interesting ones. Speak soon x
Is the strap the 16mm or 12mm?
What a wonderful idea you had with putting the straps closer in so it would not pull, very wise. Don't sell that perfect bag it is in such good condition for it being a 2002. One day you will get a bandolier. Thank you for this well thought out video
doowopshopgal Thank you so much for watching and the kind words. Luckily I fell in love with this little Speedy again after it being in hibernation for so long. I am not planning to sell it. The patina is really nice right now. I am treating myself to a Speedy B for my Birthday this year =)
Good for you, I just purchased my first ever LV item, the key cles. It arrives Tuesday and then will try to get the speedy b 25 in DE print. Good luck with your channel, like your vids.
I believe you can add d rings to it and it would be like the alma that has the added top round hardware in order to add a strap. So you would add d rings to the leather where the square rings are.
That's a good suggestion. I have seen pictures of people adding rings to use a longer strap. I don't think I use the long strap with my classic Speedys often enough to worry about it for now but that's a good idea 😊
would you be able to identify a fake bag? looking at buying one but not sure if it's real or not! thanks!
+Mckenzie Keskes I have a good idea of identifying replicas but I would recommend using an authentication service. They're pretty inexpensive. Although I am pretty confident in identifying I still use those services just to be absolutely sure. The one I normally use is called Authenticate First. Hope this helps.

Can you use that 16 mm mono strap on a speedy Damier ebene? I am contemplating on getting a speedy 25 ebene print with no strap and just use the 16 mm mono strap to the eben speedy if it would look ok. Would you do another video or a mod shot of speedy 25 ebene in mono strap? Thanks !
I'm sure you can mix and match prints if you like the look of it. I wouldn't recommend using the strap on a classic Speedy permanently because it's not designed for that. I only use it occasionally for a short period of time. I don't own a Speedy 25 in Damier Ebene so I am unable to do a mod shot with the Mono strap.

It depends what you would like the organiser to do. I had an organiser for all my bags before, but I now prefer the slouchy soft and natural look on my Speedy bags. The other reason I used an organiser was because I wanted to keep the light-coloured interior clean. It definitely helps with finding items in your bags, but I feel like I fit a lot less in my bags with an organiser. So my answer is yes and no. Sorry, I don't have a definite answer, but that's because it all depends. Lanillio liners are great and affordable to try it out and see if it works out for you. Let me know if you go for it x

It will definitely help find your items quicker. That's one of the main pros having an organiser x
I love your videos. I have a question sweet lady. I just bought a authentic speedy 40 LV but I didn’t get the strap that costs an add’t $200-$300 . So I didn’t ask if the straps, too, have stamp codes. Do lv straps that you can purchase have stamp codes too?
A C When you say stamp code - do you mean date code or 'made in France' stamp? I only have the Monogram strap shown in the video and it doesn't have a date code or doesn't indicate where it is made. I have the Speedy 30 Bandouliere and the strap also doesn't show any stamps. Hope this helps.
I have a speedy 35 and need a cross body because I have a 2 year old toddler. I bought the strap you have in the video and I intend to do to convert it to cross body as needed. I am wondering if your top handles have torn because of the weight?
Hi. My Speedy 25 still looks exactly the same and the strap hasn't cause any rips or damage, but having said that I don't use the strap very often and I don't put a lot of stuff in the 25 which I believe is the reason it's still holding up. The 35 is a lot bigger and if you intend to carry a lot of things then I personally wouldn't recommend using the strap on the handles of your classic Speedy. I probably wouldn't even use the strap on a 30 (if I had a Mono Speedy 30). Hope this helps.

great video! I do the same with a leather strap on my speedy. I use a small purse organizer in the bag at all times so there's no need to stuff it when in storage. Thanks for sharing!
I love having the option to go hands-free, although I worry about damaging the bag, but I only use the strap if I really need to. I don't always stuff my bags unless I know they will remain untouched for a long time. I've not had any issues so far (touch wood). Thank you for watching and have a great day =)

How is your bag holding so far with using the strap? I recently bought the classic speedy 25 pre loved and I want the strap as well! For me it ended up being cheaper then buying the speedy B. I think that if the straps work, then no point spending money on a speedy B.
Morgana Ramos Hi. My bag is still the same and holding up nicely. Though I don't use the strap that often and when I do I don't carry too much. But it's working OK for me and I've heard that before the Speedy B came out SAs at LV recommended using a strap on the classic Speedy. Obviously now they would try to get you to buy the Bandouliere version instead. Hope this helps =)

@@YuennyLam back in the 1990s I walked into an LV store. Asked if they sold straps for my speedy 25, they took one out of the drawer and placed it on my bag. I wore it for years without a problem
@@fancyfaces1 Before the Bandouliere was released I think a lot of people did buy a strap to use the Speedy that way. Obviously now they won't recommend it because they'd want you to buy the B version instead. I still use mine with the strap and it's a risk I'm willing to take 😊

Chanel Rose Congrats on your first classic Speedy. Mine has held up very well, but I don't use the strap too often because I've not really been needing to lately, and even when I do use it, it's for short periods. I got a strap for this bag because I didn't want to replace this Speedy, as it's my first one and also didn't want to spend more money on a Bandouliere. I personally recommend using it with a strap occasionally but probably not all the time, especially if carrying heavy things.

Cup of Chic I bought the 40 Lv Speedy today . But I too want the straps because , it comes handy but the sales associates don’t try to sell straps on speedy bags. Not sure why. I imagine because then you use the straps that are long and then you do t use the original straps causing it to remain clean and intact so then you’re not prone to buying another bag. That’s been my experience . The sales associate count on you purchasing more bags so buying an add’t strap causes you to keep the bag’s own handles clean and do you don’t risk ruining it so then you may not buy another bag because the original bag. They count upon people wearing out their bags so they go to buy another bag. Hope that answers your question.

I do sometimes, but the weight of the padlock stretches the hole on the leather. Just personal preference 😊
Does the bag come with the straps or is it separate?
The one I have is separate, but they have the Speedy Bandouliere version now where it comes with the strap and looks different to the classic Speedy.

Great review. Your Speedy seems to be in a remarkably good condition considering it's over 10 years old. I have a Monogram Speedy 30 which I bought in 2014 and I love it. However, I love carrying my Speedy 25 Damier Azur too because it's more compact in size. :)

I would prefer to have my Speedy bags the other way round. 30 in Mono and 25 in DA, but because I already had the 25 in Mono and it was my first one so I don't want to get rid of it. So I got the 30 in DA instead. I do love the 25 and I agree it's so compact =)

I bought my speedy 30 back in 2004/2005 for $1000NZD (New Zealand dollars) which I think is roughly 472GBP now. I can't believe how much everything has gone up! I bought a strap - the vachetta one for my speedy 30 last year but am still yet to use it! I KNOW I KNOW! So bad! :( One day I'll get my speedy out and about! For someone who just started off making videos it means a lot to me that my effort is being appreciated =) My Speedy was also my first LV handbag so I wouldn't want to part with it. I kept my Speedy in the wardrobe as well for many years until I bought the strap, hence the light patina for a bag purchased so long ago. The Speedy B 30 I am saving up for is also the Damier Ebene. Unfortunately I have about 7 months to wait until my Birthday. Anyway, hope you'll enjoy my future videos. See you around =D

Thank you for watching. I'm just very careful with all my items. I never put my bags on the floor outside and I wash my hands about a hundred time every day lol. Sometimes I think I am too careful and driving myself crazy but at the end of the day I am careful with everything I own. Pretty much all my stuff (bags or not) are in pristine condition. I just like everything I have to be clean and nice-looking so I make the effort. Even with shoes - I watch where I step. Yup, it's that bad with me =D

Depends if I'm changing bags. I keep them out if I'm still going to use it the next day. Generally I change bags every week so usually only one bag is out for a week at a time.
I was considering putting a shoulder strap to my speedy 25 as well. May I ask how long is your strap?
+sweetcravn GB Mine is the standard adjustable strap which I believe is 47.2 inches. I have it on the shortest adjustment because I don't tend to wear my bags cross-body. Thank you for watching =)
Where did u get that strap?
It was available on the LV website, but I bought mine from a private seller because it was out of stock all the time. I believe it is still available to purchase now.
The tag that says made in France looks a little lop sided doesn't it. ???
doowopshopgal It does in the video, but it's because of the use over time I guess. The actual stitching is straight, unlike the one I saw in the store that the tab was actually stitched lop-sided. I wasn't as fussy back then so didn't thoroughly check the quality before purchasing. I used to believe all LV items are perfect. It's only due to recent issues that I have read about that has made me inspect every item carefully. Now you mentioned it though I will double-check when I get home tonight =)
Yes it is a shame that we spend so much and that we have to inspect what we purchase, what ever happened to quality control!
doowopshopgal I know. It's rather annoying. The SA's tried to convince me that there weren't anything wrong with the ones I looked at in the store. There clearly were some issues. I'm happy with the one I picked though. I also double-checked the tab on my Speedy 25 and the stitching isn't lop-sided *phew*..

Be careful! You will rip your handles off your bag. That bag was not designed to be a cross body. The canvas will give way and the threading will come apart. Be careful.

Come on now, don't carry it even over your shoulder! You can't be that clueless. The bag is a hand bag. It was not meant to be a shoulder bag. Get the L.V. designed with the strap if you need a shoulder bag.
