Untreated leather will always patina but there are things you can do that will drastically slow down the process. I have several monogram pieces that were made over a DECADE ago that still look brand new. I've been able to keep the leather extremely light just by storing them in complete darkness. I don't over use them and always make sure my hands are free from lotions. When I do carry these pieces I always have a clean towel or even a sweater/coat that I will keep in my car to toss over whatever piece I'm carrying to block the sun from tanning the leather. I'm one of those people that prefers the lighter leather over the dark because I love the contrast against the dark brown canvas. I also think the dark patina ages the bag and makes it appear almost dirty and just old looking.

I had never wanted a Speedy until I saw yours via Instagram in Europe. And it seemed that you were able to carry so much! So I stopped by the LV boutique to see what would fit and, surprise, everything that I normally carried. So I got the Speedy B 25 in Damier Azur and it is gorgeous! I dress it up with a Twilly. The patina is coming along nicely. I'm taking it on my next trip and I know it will be so secure while holding all that I need. Thanks to you for sharing your love that I now have a new love.
I love this video, I catch myself watching it over and over periodically because of the indebt information. This video inspired me to purchase my Speedy B 25 just recently. I am in love about the anticipating factor of the vachetta turning a pretty patina as yours has over time. I purchased mine on EBAY pre loved with a small amount of patina, mine is a newer model bag with the zippered inner pocket well of $300.00 less than purchasing new from the LV Boutique., You rock Jerusha Couture, I love all of your video's.
It's been at least 35 years since my last speedy/keepall. I used to take a giant one (I think it was a 45 or so) with college books, gym clothes and everything I needed since I was away from home all day long. Lately I've been experiencing a lack of handbags, I'm used to those black holes and I love them. I'm more or less like you, 1,75m height and about 70 kilos, and was thinking of a 30. Having hip problems I can't lug so much weight anymore, and I have a Coach Hobo with a whooping 40 cm base, so I need something smaller. I usually take an ebook reader that is much smaller than that so I'm seriously considering the 25. Also something that saves my life are Cloversac purse organizers, I have one in my HUGE La Pliage tote. So, once I get over the debate on what size to have, it'll be on its way! Great video and congrats on the new home! I have the speedy b 30 and used baby wipes to clean it but did not realize that contributed to darkening the leather....now I use baby wipes to clean my bag more often.. Lvoe a speedy with a dark tan.. looks so vintage!
I actually just used baby wipes on my Neverfull GM handles because they were getting quite black on the underside from rubbing on my clothes. I was bit worried about it at first but I have to say they came up a treat after I did it. Thanks for the suggestion, now I know how to get black marks off my handles.
Great detailed review! I like your remind at the end to just use and enjoy our bags. I saw a young mom use a speedy 25 with her own strap and the bag was so patina'ed. It looked amazing! You will use this bag forever.
hi !!! just received my speedy b 25!! I am 5.3'' tall and not skinny at all. Its the perfect size for girls of our size. i always prefer bags with top zip closure (more secure as per my taste) can carry a lot of things in it. it does sag a bit when not totally full .. may be a bag shaper in the bottom might help or else a perfect bag! cross body hits around my hips. my 1st LV and m loving it so much already! yay! thanks jerusha for this video .. its for you that i went for speedy 25 .. next will be EVA clutch :D

This is an amazing video. I just purchased the Speedy 25 Bandouliere yesterday in the monogram print like you and I love it. I have yet to use it but I know when I do it will be great. I struggled between purchasing the 30 and 25 but I finally decided that a smaller look would be better because I did not want to deal with the sag affect. Thank you for such a detailed review. My speedy b 25 got patina quickly too! I got mine right before april 2012 and I used it pretty much till August 2012 and the patina happened soooooo rapidly. Lovely review Jerusha!
I still love my LV reverse monogram LYXBAG clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.

Just a note - the correct way to pronounce vachette, which is French for calfskin, is va - shette. The 'e' on the end has no accent and so it is silent.

i use a base shaper in mine - and also use a purse organiser as well, and it stops the sag and keeps the bag looking fabulous.

I’ve been watching your videos all day which I probably watch this one about five times already I just love watching your videos and when I’m depressed you seem to make me forget about my problems you really do and I think you for that you definitely can lift a person up have a great spirit and you’re so genuine I also collect Louis Vuitton I have probably about 23 bags SLG’s a few toiletries i’ve been going through a rough time right now or unfortunately I have to move and my daughter had sent today mom it looks like you’re going to have to sell some of your Louis Vuitton bags I only have two Chanel she said her sell them I said to her I’d rather be broke in the streets and homeless before I ever sold my bags lol 😂 it’s not funny but it is after she said that I started watching your videos all day which I’ve been watching you for years anyways I just love you girl 🥰🙏❤️

I've got e NF PM in damier ebene n have recently collected e Eva n some SLGs n now badly itching for e Speedy B 25 in damier ebene.. Tried it in e store n it looks so chic n perfect on me comparatively to e 30 which looks bulky on me cos I'm short n petite.. Love all e GHW on e bag more den e NF PM has which brings it out n it's so sparkly n dressy! Am very sure I'm gonna be a proud owner of 1 in 2015! great review. i was debating back and forth what size to get 25 or 30. now my mind is made up def. going for the 25 speedy b...the 30 look way too big.

Use the straps on the 25 for the speed 30. That's what I did for my keepall 45.
