Why Megaminx Is Super Interesting

- In this video, I'm going to explain why megaminx is super interesting. Until recently, I never enjoyed it that much, and I hardly ever practiced the event. But seeing that it was a tentative event at Madison Blind & Stuff lead me to get a really good megaminx, the Cubicle Galaxy v2, and start practicing again. Now, I've destroyed all of my PB's, and learned just how interesting megaminx is. So if anyone ever asks you "is megaminx cool?" "is megaminx interesting?" or "is megaminx good?" you now know that you can say yes. Hopefully you'll also learn some megaminx tips and stuff in this video. I hope you enjoy!!

I like being on the “amateur” side. I got a Rubik’s cube in high school, and had a blast just working out how to solve it. Unfortunately, I started with a couple clues from glancing at the booklet it came with (just “work in layers” and “the last layer requires working in patterns instead of pieces), but I still had a wonderful time working out algorithms that would let me solve it reliably. I can solve it now in 2½ minutes, which I know isn’t that fast for enthusiasts, but it’s great fun for showing off to people who don’t know about the more hard-core side of things :).
I just got a megaminx for Christmas. I asked for it so I could get that experience of working it out again. My cube knowledge gets me about halfway there, but now I’m to the point where I’ve got to photograph/record a couple candidates for the next step to lock down what its side-effects are, so I can “reverse engineer” the pieces I want to move. It’s what I did with the cube, and it’s just as fun as that was all those years ago.

megaminx is my fav event, my pb single is 1:48 and i usually avg 2:10
Favorite is 4x4 pb is 1:36
My fav is skewb my on is 0:67
My favourite are:
3x3- 12.01 secs
4x4- 58.31 secs
5×5-1:50.10 secs
These all are my PBs in these 3 events.
Well, My 3x3 pb is 11.51 secs now...

Hey Brody! I have just started megaminx and average around 50 sec. I would recommend you buying a concave versions and a sculpted version of the galaxy v2 m. Then, you should make a hybrid megaminx with the sculpted core & edges with the concave corners. This could make your turning a lot faster. Hope this helps!

Tighten it up or magnetise it to prevent it from corner twisting
Same with corner twists... I use the beginner LL method and when a corner is twisted, things happen...
i used to average 2:00 until i got my galaxy v2 m which dropped my times to 1:30 immediately. i liked the feeling of my galaxy v2 m so i went to grind megaminx for 2 weeks straight and now im globally sub 1

what Juan Pablo does for megaminx I sometimes do in cfop where if I see a connected f2l slot I put that in before my final cross edge
As soon as I saw the megaminx its been my favorite cube. Its so pretty :D and intuitively fun.
I actually thought of quitting cubing for an year😔
I got this video in my recommendation and I watched it. Now I don't feel like quitting!!
I actually hated megaminx since I started cubing.
But now after watching the video I really got motivated and now I'll start practicing megaminx for sure!!

To avoid a corner twist, insert some clay inside it and make it heavy.
I hope it will help and yes, it will not decrease the speed.
My favorite event is 3x3 with feet..

I really like Megaminx because:
1: It’s like a 3x3
2: It is just in the middle of Long and short (I average 3:30) And in my times it’s just in the middle. (Worst event that I can Speed solve: 5x5 (8min) Best Event: Skewb and 2x2 (5-8s)

It's only been about a week since I picked up a minx for the first time. I haven't seen any solve videos yet so I still don't know anything about best practices... I just started with one face and then went face to face except where I noticed a convenient fit on another face. I dunno what that method would be called. Anyway my point is that it shocked me that just fidgeting around with it, in about an hour I was already down to the last layer... 😳
...and I'm kinda still there. 🤣
It's really a LOT more fun and less overwhelming than I thought it'd be. Being new to cubing, for some reason I'm fascinated by the shapeshifters! But somehow the megaminx is more fun without all the weirdness. 😁

I do 20/30 solves on megaminx every week. I like this video because mega is really interesting. Make example solves video pls and tips how to get faster

As a megaminx pro, just tighten up the tension. It wont affect the corner-cutting AT ALL and avoid corner-twists 👍

My megaminx got taken away 5 months ago at school and I finally asked my teacher if I can get it back and I got it back
That is horrible! Teachers shouldn't be allowed to do that, if it is distracting to the class it should only be taken away for at most a day.
teachers and others shouldn't be able to do that, just because they think it is a ditraction doesn't mean they get to commit property theft
