    Your tutorials are among the best on you tube! You slow, detailed and patient style is s breath of fresh air. I hope sometime you will detail Busses, Sub-groups and the lot - from a very elementary view. A lot of that IS accomplished with this vid, but I suspect many new users (like myself) would a specific show of Bus, Sub-groups, and how they are best used.
    Kudos, and thanks!

    An excellent tutorial, really well done. I like seeing stuff done on occasion even if I "think" I know how to do it, and working with the Auria Pro piano roll with DrumPerfect is one of those I didn't know how to do...so I really needed this video. Both of these apps are so brilliant and you made the interaction between them very easy to grasp, thanks brother...

    This was very helpful! I learned two key things from this video. 1) Is to use both a bus and a subgroup. I've been using a bus so I can record multiple takes on different tracks, then send them all to the bus and add effects to the bus to compare the takes without having to add identical effects to each track. BUT I haven't been able to solo them! Now I know how, by using the subgroup. 2) I had no idea you could make fader groups like that. Nice! Thank you very much!

      Hey this is probably a dumb question...but do you happen to know any way of making cymbol swells and stops? Haven't been able to figure it out. Probably isn't a way to achieve it. But thought I'd ask.

    • @drumperfectpro9648
      @drumperfectpro9648 4 роки тому

      Hi Jerry Fick, here is the way I would do to make a realistic cymbal swell, like at the ending of a tune.
      First be sure that you have at least 3 or 4 crash ( or ride edge )samples variations for both high and low velocity, so they can be randomly triggered to add realism.
      Then, shorten their envelope in the kit view ( 3 to 4 sec ) because they will overlap many times. You will have to tweak and find the best length. You can tweak in real time if you select all these samples and turn ADSR envelop On ( button View, in Kit view ). Then you can tweak the attack and release of any one of the samples to get different “colors” of the swell, all other samples will follow.
      Then the pattern: a 4/4 bar at roughly 60 bpm. Select the crash ( or ride ) instrument. Make the first beat with 16 subdivisions. Create a velocity ramp for all these strokes ending on the second beat at max velocity. Now tweak the humanizer: velocity at 80% and timing at 50% roughly. That’s it.
      For the cymbal mute ( stop ) just make all your selected samples very short by moving the envelop handles for sustain and release. Tweak to your taste. It is more effective with a bit of reverb.
      If you are satisfied with the results for both swell and mute, you can simplify the process for next tunes. Export as audio few variations of swells and mutes separately directly to DPP and reuse them later by adding them to a new sample group. You can save a new version of the kit if you wish.This will avoid repeating all the steps described above. You will have dedicated swell and mute samples available.
      Hope this helps and good luck.

    nicely done video tutorial sir! Thank you for taking time to do this.
    I have a query:
    can't you go into DPP and change the midi channel to anything other than 10? in settings, under Midi destination, can't you long press (tap+hold) on "DrumPerfect Pro" to bring up the midi channel assignment to change it there? or did the dev hard code this to midi ch 10?
    And what model/version of ipad/iphone is this? Apologies, I am new to the world of Apple products so pardon my ignorance....

    • @scunaccjones149
      @scunaccjones149 8 років тому +1

      +Marc Abernathy Thanks! On the channel: possibly - I haven't checked that - but, normally one would not do so in any case because MIDI drums usually receive on 10. I would not change it myself, but accommodate to using 10 as it''s expected.

    • @marctronixx
      @marctronixx 8 років тому +1

      for grins I went in and changed it to midi ch 11 and auria pro picked it up, so in theory you CAN change it but as you state it's best to keep the system set the way it is to avoid issue downstream. I'm a hardware guy and new to apple products and these apps so i just like to ask questions to get better acquainted. Thank you again for the nice tutorial!

    What does Auria/Auria Pro offer in terms of effects? Reverbs, delay, distorion etc.? I would like to heavily process my drums but I'm completely new to iOS system, effects (no VST :/) and I don't know where to look/what to look for.

    Thanks alot for your comprehensive video, it taught me exactly what I needed to know. Can you please answer me this, when for example feeding the kick into an insert on a separate channel, how would you go about using the channel strip on this? Since the channel strip does its thing BEFORE the insert. I would love to use the compressor and EQ of the channel strip but now I would have to feed all of these signals into a separate bus or something to have that....or use additional effects (since there is no compressor by default in the inserts) to achieve this.
    Any word?

    • @MusicInclusive
      @MusicInclusive  8 років тому

      Yes - you could feed it to a bus and use the channel strip on the bus. I *think* what you are asking is how you would print it to the audio so, the bus approach works fine. :-) Alternatively, you could load, say, Pro-C on the track itself.

    • @b03tz
      @b03tz 8 років тому

      Too bad you can't insert the channel strip as a post ;)

    • @MusicInclusive
      @MusicInclusive  8 років тому

      Indeed, but, the bus approach works well and you have plenty of them.

    Hi Derek firstly thanks for an excellent tutorial. I'm a midi noob so please bear with me. I have set up Auria Pro and DPP as described but the midi channels are 'mis-aligned'. I've exported a song as a midi file using the Funky Breakbeats 1 kit. I've imported the midi file into Auria but instruments are playing back on the wrong channels. For example the Kick drum is supposedly output on key B0 (acc. to DPP Kits page) but in Auria plays on key C1. The Lo Tom is output as B1 in DPP but is mapped to B0 in Auria. Thus when I play my imported midi file I'm getting Lo Tom playing where the kick drum should be. Is the problem in DPP or Auria? How do I go about fixing? Many thanks.

    I did get this set up easily using your step by step walkthrough. Unfortunately, every time I open up the apps, Auria Pro loses most of the mappings that I set up. Any idea why or how to fix?

    • @MusicInclusive
      @MusicInclusive  7 років тому

      Hi - not sure what you mean by "loses the mappings" - which mappings in particular? App settings are not stored by IAA hosting apps if that's what you mean. Save a preset in DrumPerfect Pro and reload it. Same for any FX etc. If something else, do please feel free to get back to me.

      I have my 16 audio tracks in AP mapped to each of the drum instruments in DPP. When I close the apps and later go back in, many of those 16 AP tracks are no longer associated with the DPP instrument and i have to reconfigure them.

    Can we do partial measures of drums? Have a 4/4 time drumset beat and 6/8 time drumset beat in the same song? Can auria handle midsong tempo changes?

    Ok Ill bother you again... Ive noticed on other midi apps recording to auria that you have to use stereo tracks for mono sources, ie: your kick, snare, etc. Why is that? That seems counter intuitive. A thousand thanks.

    • @MusicInclusive
      @MusicInclusive  8 років тому +1

      +brian patrick Ah - good point - you don't have to. I was being lazy just adding 16 stereo tracks all at once. :-) If you want to work with items that are normally thought of as mono sources you can do that too. I'll add a note on my FB page (MusicInclusive) about that. Thanks for bringing it up!

    Hi! This was an amazing tutorial, thank you so much. I have a probably very stupid question: when i record my midi drums into separate stereo tracks with the input setting to "mic" (as yours is) the mic on my ipad turns on and i get tons of noise from the street, my living room etc. Yet, when i turn the mic off in ipad settings, it appears that i get no sound at all send to the track; am i doing something wrong? Im sure i am :-)

    • @MusicInclusive
      @MusicInclusive  8 років тому

      You have to load the instrument on the channel as an IAA instrument. If it's just plain MIDI that you are recording, you don't need a stereo channel, just the MIDI channel.
