The Adventuring Abbeys Go To California (2023 HIGHLIGHTS)

Last fall, when we planned our epic family trip out west, we knew that we wanted to include California in our lineup. We knew we wanted to ride some roller coasters and visit some new parks - so a "side trip" out to California was the obvious choice.
We flew into Phoenix, Arizona, picked up Derrick's parents, and then drove out to Oceanside, California where we stayed for a few days.
WOW is California beautiful! The last time Derrick and I were there was in 2013, but we loved it just as much in 2023 as we did in 2013 (the traffic though - wowwwww).
Just the drive from Arizona, down along the Mexican border, and out into California was breath-taking. I can't remember one other trip that we've taken that I haven't stopped looking out my window the entire time, just because how beautiful and different the landscape was the ENTIRE way. We were blown away.

We LOVED being able to sit out on our balcony in the morning, drink our coffee, and watch the surfers surfing. We saw lots of dolphins too!
The beach was just steps away from our condo - it was clean and beautiful and so much fun! The pier was just a stroll up the beach and added to the whole experience.
The resort itself had so many amenities - more than we could even take advantage of! The pool and hot tub areas were beautiful, the landscaping breathtaking - the whole property was just stunning!
If you're looking for a beautiful place to stay in Oceanside, CA, we'd HIGHLY recommend this AirBnB! (It was also very conveniently located right in between Sea World San Diego and Knott's Berry Farm - the two parks we were visiting in California!)
