Plenary with Vinnie Nobre | The road less travelled | Troika Xperience 11/10/2021

Based on a plenary session from 2008, this talk revisits issues related to the identity of teachers, the challenges we face to be relevant in a society that underestimates the importance of educators and the difficult professional choices we have to make in our field. We are going to reflect upon the pivotal role of education in challenging historical times, with a special focus on how the teaching of English as a foreign language can help individuals feel empowered and freer.
Vinnie Nobre
Vinnie is the Academic Director for CNA Idiomas. He has acted as a teacher, teacher trainer, academic coordinator, international examiner, educational manager and author of pedagogical content in various contexts. Vinnie has written textbooks (Project Ace and Huperlink - both through Pearson) and is co-author of three methodology books and was a Managing Partner at Troika.

This is one of the most powerful talks I have ever seen. I come here and watch it again every once in a while. It is utterly important to remember about the power and love for education that drives teachers to stay in the profession.
