Hey DJ, don't know what your shoulder thing is about, but I've dealt with sometimes intense pain in the left shoulder while backpacking for years. What helps for me is periodic shoulder stretches while hiking. I do crossover arm/shoulder stretches to feel a strong stretch in shoulder, hold trekking poles over head with both hands and stretch arms up ĺower poles behind head to feel a stretch, hold poles behind pack and then raise arms to feel a stretch. Basically, whatever I can do to stretch and work the shoulder and upper back muscles. I almost always get some good relief.
DJ. I’ve been dealing with similar shoulder, hip, knee issues and seeing a specialist. Looking at your biomechanics as you are hiking carrying the phone it seems like your shoulders are misaligned which can be causing the shoulder issue. Over 2000 miles things can get definitely deformed. Just food for thought.
