      @Cameron Hawthorn how tf did he steal his technique? Why are you so overdramatic? I paint wet on wet. Does that mean I also stole his technique? He credited bill in multiple episodes. As times changed Ross refined the Alexander technique, along with some of the tools needed to paint the wet on wet technique. If Ross didn’t come along and get the perfect teacher “Bill Alexander” Alexander probably would have been forgotten about! People need to thank Ross for keeping Alexander’s legacy going! Yes Bob had different techniques, but times were changing, and Ross grabbed it! Alexander passed the brush to Ross to keep it going!
    I grew up watching Bill Alexander painting when I was very young and continued watching Bob Ross until the last episode! I still watch both on UA-cam! Both fantastic artists!

    I used to follow along with Bill on PBS and made some pretty good stuff that still amazes me today. But then they brought on Bob and it just wasn't the same -he was just not nearly as inspirational -more painting for relaxation which was ok if that was what you were looking for. Bill just had a way of talking and of bringing a scene to life with just the right bits of color and highlights that I have not seen anywhere else "fire in"

    • @MarsFranke
      @MarsFranke 2 роки тому

      You can see, that Bob Ross' show was more produced as a "selling product" and Bob even said in one of his last shows, that he struggled with the manager /producer, saing "...she is mean". I sometimes had the impression, especially towards the end, that he didn't enjoy it as much anymore and he didn't have the same "fire" like Bill.
      I stll love them both.

    I have climbed a lot of mountains in my life and Bill paints them as good , if not better than anyone else around , including all the modern oil painters . He gives them just the right amount of depth and realism and to think that he fires them onto the canvas so relatively quickly . Goodness knows what he would achieve if he really took his time about it . His style and quick fire method though is just magical . I have a feeling that even Vincent Van Gough would have approved of and loved to have watched this guy paint.

      @@davidson2004fatboy Well...well...you have to... you have to...to let yourself go, you see? If you...you let yourself...yooouuurself go, then... everything will...will turn out nice, you see? It won't matter anymore if... if you ...paint red trees...or, blue trees... or, green trees... or orange.... aannndd... nice little purple trees! It won't matter, you see? You just...just be free, and use your...your palette knife ... and you...you paint with it... or you punch holes in what you...you have already painted! Everything is nice now... everything is really beauti.... it is nice, ok? We don't make any mistakes...even with...with our palette knives because...because everything is nice..everything is.. is.. awwww...ohhh... that looks not nice... that looks like ...like crraaappp! I think now I will...will burn this crap...I will fire it in! I will burn it and then..then, I throw all my paints and my canvases, and...and my brushes... an' yes! I will take my palette knife and I will...I will scrap this crap....then..then... everything will be nice again!

    Thank you for posting! I remember watching Bill on PBS as a teen. Not picking sides, or starting an argument, but I Always liked him a little better better than his student)
