I love this guy! When I was a kid I bought myself a palette knife just so I could paint mountains like he does. I put them in the backgrounds of my dungeons and dragons paintings every chance I got. Even on skateboards I painted for friends. If only I had been old enough to drive a van I would have painted happy trees and mountains on that too! Now I’m a graphic designer. Thanks Herr Alexander for the inspiration!
I first saw this amazing man create masterpieces with ease on PBS almost 40 years ago and I was struck, amazed, I dare say transfixed in just moments. After just a few minutes I was calling my co-worker (TV salesmen) to "WTH? Bob..come see this guy." Over the years there have been many with similar styles many of whom say they learned by watching Bill, but none have ever generated the awe I was in watching the sweet touch this man had. He could coax beauty from nothing before your eyes and had a touch that I haven't seen with anyone else. And this wasn't his only style, he wasn't limited at all. He could paint still life, portraits, art that was stunning. Not to detract, there are many other greats (Bob Ross is in there & I love watching him too) but Bill Alexander.... he commanded the Almighty Brush :)
The sheer exuberance - what a joy it is to see and hear Bill like this. He's as adorable as he is talented. Thank you so much for making these videos available to us. i'd have loved to have met him, he must have been so much fun to be around!
I love how he opened his heart and shared with us a little of his life. I also love this painting and I want to paint this one with him. The darling died only two years after Bob Ross.
We were so lucky that we had such a diamond as he... He spoke here of his past. The world’s tragedy of horrors in wwii made for at least our gain here with such a special soul... Thanks Bill... ever the teacher... still teaching...

Oh yeah, the way I understand it he actually had a dream of sparking a peace revolution thru painting, he had a school or campus where I think he taught people to paint for free... he had this lifelong dream of getting all people to paint

I read his bio on his website... he worked so hard to pursue his painting career and even invented the “magic white” painting method.... and he was there to tell everybody “anything I can paint you can paint too” this is just admirable
17:00 OOOOH! I've been wondering about that, doesn't the magic white get dirty when you dip your dirty brush in there, but of course! Thinner paint sticks to thicker paint, not vice versa!

@@guitarsid I understand and agree with you ,peace is always the best option, it's just that oftentimes it requires hard decisions. My grandfather was about to ship out as well when the war ended, I never met him but if the war didn't end when it did I most likely wouldn't have been born.

Bob Ross was good bit Bill is the best! Did Ross learn from Alexander or just rip him off?
vibra64 he studied under Bill. Bill helped him produce his first few television series and then Bob ripped him off.
