For example, if receiving instructions, responding with "Sounds good!" might look more informal, while "Sounds good" might come across as more formal even though I am using the same words - is this true? I really appreciate your help.
Great question Barbara. Yes, I think using an exclamation point makes it sound more informal. If it's someone you know well, using an exclamation point is ok. If it's someone you want to remain at a distance with, don't put the exclamation point.
