Fun fact : a defibrilator is actually build to stop your heart (litterally turning your buggy heart off so it can turn back on right) so it makes sense that the makeshift one would be deadly
Its purpose is to provide different types of electrical signals in order to "shock" the heart out of an irregular rhythm and into a regular rhythm. A very common misconception is that they are for starting a heart that is no longer beating, they don't work like that. I guess you could consider it as stopping your heart and restarting it, but I think a better way to describe is artificially forcing a new rhythm.
18:58 -- Even though using flash camera probably picked up enough ligh from worskop that it lid the plate evenly. In dark it migh be different case becasue the only ligh source would be flash coming from camera.
When it comes to the speed, you can guestimate the speed you would need, Let's say: The distance between the camera and the point where it measures speed is 100 meters. The camera reaction time is 0.5 seconds (this is a rough estimate). The speed limit is 60 km/h (which is 16.67 m/s). Maximum Speed = 100 meters / (0.5 seconds + 0.5 seconds) = 100 meters / 1 second = 100 m/s To convert this to kilometers per hour: Maximum Speed = 100 m/s * (3600 seconds/hour) / 1000 meters/kilometer = 360 km/h 360 km/h * 0.621371 mph/km/h ≈ 223.7 mph And that is with 1 second total delay, which sounds waaaaaay to much, so in reality the speed needed would be even higher.
Pretty much getting hit by the radar but being outside the view of the camera when it snaps. But the speed of sound is roughly 343 m/s or 1234 km/h or 767 mph. So just a bit over 3 times the speed of the 0.5 second example.
Since the camera is made to get someone speeding, it seems obvious that they were designed to catch you at 100 mph. It would see useless as a speed camera if it couldn’t catch you speeding…. Just my initial thoughts before watching it all.
The license cams are not infallible if you live in an area where they have to deal with a lot of different states' plates, including themed commemorative ones.
I think the only way to beat it through speed is to go above the set range for the radar. Obviously, they can't have it dialled too high, or stuff like low flying aircraft could trip the camera. The threshold being 'anything high enough to reasonably not be a speeding car' depends heavily on the programmer, and any change to that is a simple fix.
Top gear actually proved that you can do this for what was at the time a standard UK speed camera. You have to be going in excess of 170mph but it worked
There was another episode/clip where they explained this. The laws in the UK were (are?) a bit different - the camera had to get two photos of the speeding car. In the USA, though, one photo is a conviction. Then they went for Ludicrous Speed by using a dragster with a jet engine!
Speed camera designed to take pictures of a car speeding at well above 250mph. If anything could beat it only those hypercar that can clock in at over 300+mph might possibly be able to beat it, but the chances are still like 0.05%
33:20 - Now I need to know why they had to get the trainer in frame at all. Just point the speed camera somewhere else where the bird -- and only the bird -- is likely to fly through the frame.
Uk speed cameras used to be rated at 171mph, when they boyght out the new cameras they addmitted too the exact 171mph. The new ones we know do way more so unless youre going mach 2 you have no chance but someone did try doing over 200 in england 😂

Speed cameras take a picture of your license plate, to give you a ticket. Or you can just say that, you were selling your car to someone. That took it out for a test drive, while they left THERE car at your place.
That's why you get the ticket, but no demerit points: it can't prove who drove. Then, if your story was true, you could sue the 'actual driver' for the fine. The owner is responsible though. A good reason not to have a car someone else uses, in your own name.
The whole "For some reason." thing when the second test had the same speed as the first was sarcastic. The car is equipped with a small computer that stops it from going over whatever speed is programmed in, which is 100mph in this case.
German here, i drove my vw golf faster than they drove this lambo. Even if this episode is very old, i think its a little weak representation of what speed a normal car can drive.
Yeah, but they have to be insured for these tv shows, and not car insurance, but an insurance bond for all the actors etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the insurance lawyers proscribed an upper bound for speed they could go. That's just my guess though
