Patriot Act Secrets They Don't Want You to Know - Forgotten History

  • After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 the federal government had an almost immediate reflex action in order to prevent another such occurrence. This was not unusual, as throughout American history laws have been passed that were ostensibly to provide security but eventually became too intrusive and often labeled unconstitutional. The other side of the argument is that certain laws were required to increase national security and protect American citizens, and were therefore necessary depending upon the circumstances. We will discuss both arguments here. Written and Hosted by Colin D. Heaton. Forgotten History is a 10th Legion Pictures Production.

As a former law enforcement officer and Detective, I would argue that the Patriot Act might have been meant for external threats, but that the reality is that it has been used against actual Americans more than any foreign terrorist.
Local authorities are pretty much hamstrung by the Constitution, which is a good thing, as that's how it's supposed to be, but agencies like the FBI and the DoJ in general just seem to not care and do whatever they want anyway. I mean, it's pretty easy to do when you have neverending taxpayer money to hire tens of thousands of attorneys.
The Patriot Act either needs a massive overhaul with much more potent protections for American citizens, or it simply needs to be repealed and/or abolished.
I am unwilling to trade the majority of my freedoms for the possibility of a tiny slice of "safety".

    • @WideAwakeHuman
      @WideAwakeHuman 5 місяців тому

There’s no way to overhaul it and make it safe - they’ve already proven time and time again they will break the law to use their abilities against Americans. The ability to collect the data has to be taken away, period.

It never ceases to amaze me how the cia works within the United States with black funds, although its charter states that it is only to work OUTSIDE the boundaries of the USA.
We all knew either right away or in time that the 9/11 attacks were an inside job. We just couldn't believe what we were seeing. People started learning about "false flag operations" and wondered where the people were who were deplaned in Cleveland that day. I grew up during The Cold War, and believed that Russians were base, evil and frankly, scary. Now we are right there with them.

Like 95% of laws the name is opposite of the intent of the law.
I guess the War of 1812 was actually lost and all Americans became slaves.
Ok City bombing was a Gov action. The "high ranking" officials were not there. One highly decorated officer was there. But as he was an Actual Patriot, he wasn't forewarned.
I watched a video at a Fire Department that illustrated how the building was brought down.
Shape charges were needed at the base of the columns in order to break them. Obviously something extremists could not do in a secure building.
Rule number 1: The government is not your friend.
Rule number 2: The Government is for sale to the highest bidder, and the public doesn't get to point out that they were already paying for it.

I recall the "Patriot Act" was already written and was rolled out almost instantaneously. Some high powered lawyer authored it, I can't recall his name right off.
When great American Patriot Edward Snowden put out the USA-NSA-CIA leaks to selected media outlets, these journalist knew they were playing with dynamite! And quickly made it a non story. One of the most stunning revelations was the NSA's Utah data center. This advanced technological marvel is so massive and so built out it will be able to store all electronic data and metadata vacuumed up by their gargantuan super computer complex for the next 500 years! What a mind-blowing revelation! Thanks professor for sharing your knowledge, I learn something new and useful every episode. A fundamental understanding of history is essential in today's society.

The Patriot Act poses a difficult question. On one hand we have to recognize the prevalence of terrorism against our country by foreign actors (esp. from the Middle East) and we can't leave ourselves defenseless. On the other hand, the abuse of the provisions of the act by the government in conjunction with the FISA Court judges is clear. So, a drastic reform/replacement is needed. But it can't be done now with the present government in place. They can't be trusted to limit the power of the government in any meaningful way and would twist any new provisions to their own benefit.

LBJ sent us a notice in 1965 to have my dad to take me from Dover AFB to Wilmington De to become Naturalized. While we were waiting the old man blubbered something to the jailer. "This is where the bad boys go." March 65. So Johnson was elected. McNamara wanted to close bases. Mom said in Glasweigan "He's no going to get my washer and dryer" Munitions would be prioritized.
The TV ad to go take care of registration preceeded Rocky and Bulwinkle. This out of the Philadelphia Station.

I will admit that laws like the patriot act are often successful into weakening terrorism, in other words like activities by those who want to hurt the United States. My worry is that these type of laws are often used to go beyond the scope of what they were intended. And they assume that those who have the power to implement these procedures, have the same constitutional dedication as intended. But instead they have often abused such power. It is laws like these, that can be used to subjugate a population or parts of a population. Making us like Nazi Germany in Soviet Russia.
