Absolutely fantastic that this theatre is being restored! It would be wonderful to see more classic theaters restored in this manner. It was, however, difficult getting through this segment with the correspondent continually pronouncing “theater” as “theeder”…
Definitely. I wish I could have gotten there the last time I was in Hollywood in March, but I'm headed back there again in August, so I'll have to see what they're gonna have then. The last movie I saw there was a 70mm print of "2001"; I forget whether it was the official restoration or Christopher Nolan's print.
Grauman's Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood is an iconic building & should be preserved as a mark of respect & remembrance to the contributions of Old Hollywood to the economy of the USA over the decades! 🙏🌷🌿🌍💜🕊
It's wonderful Netflix saved this theater. I wish someone could have saved the RKO Keith's in Queens, New York. I was just at Radio City Music Hall last night, which is also a stunning theater. But the RKO Keith's had the most beautiful lobby which made you feel like you were in a beautiful courtyard in Italy. Both Radio City and the RKO Keith have beautiful interiors. Radio City more sleek in its art deco design and the RKO more ornate. The RKO theater built in 1927 was a landmark. But in the 90s a developer bought it and gutted the inside of the theater without the city's permission. It was heartbreaking. The theater sat in shambles for two decades over court battles with the developer. People who are familiar with the RKO Keith still mourn its loss. What's sad is that there are no interior photos of the theater before it was gutted. It would be nice if someone could recreate it with AI.

They should get the original organ back again. It may be available also.
