    OpenAI was created as non profit, got code from open source, got funding to get started, didn’t pay taxes, and when the company seemed profitable converted into for profit company. Every new startup should take this route. This is called swindling guys!

    Ok this is going to sound a bit weird, but this issue actually isn't about money or about control. Elon's actions and business choices are primarily focused on benefiting humanity over personal profit (there is a lot of evidence for this). His use of finances is as a tool to change the world in a pro-humanity way (aka get to mars, create a solar powered infrastructure, change the cars to being primarily clean power). In that frame, Elon Musk believes that OpenAI is doing something dangerous and is using the lawsuit to bring general awareness to openAI moving from an open source model to a for profit model. It is kinda sad that these interviewers simply can't comprehend there may be motivations other than money or control.

      Musk can definitely be hypocritical with some of his actions. But this video is not entirely neautral, as the man in this video is one of the largest financial bakers of OpenAI. He would lose a lot of money if Elon won the lawsuit.

      That's for OpenAi to decide, not Microsoft. Microsoft gets 1st access by a month or two to what OpenAI is planning to release publicly.
      Besides , if OpenAI gets AGI, or ASI, which is what they are truly after, it'll be very obvious. Some things can't get hidden.
      Besides, it's the kind of development people want to take credit for as being the 1st to produce. They won't be silent, and it'll give them every advantage there is to have over competitors.

    • @chetubetcha8090
      @chetubetcha8090 5 місяців тому

      @@kamu747 where are you getting this, that Microsoft gets access to AGI for a month? ASI will take longer than expected, it's missing the infrastructure.
      As for its for Openai to decide...they already did back in November... It's why Sam Altman was fired, but somehow Microsoft was able to deny that claim and fire the board at that time...seemingly, Microsoft is in control of OpenAi...

    • @kamu747
      @kamu747 5 місяців тому

      @chetubetcha8090
      I never said Microsoft gets access to OpenAI's AGI. Microsofts deal with OpenAI does not include OpenAIs AGI when they arrive at it.
      I said Microsoft (through Bing, now Copilot) gets 1st pickings from OpenAI innovations about a month or so, give or take before OpenAI makes it available in their ChatGPT offerings. However, Microsoft provides this in a limited capacity, quota based. Where as when it's offered in ChatGPT paid model its more generous, almost unlimited.
      All of this was made public about a year ago when Microsoft struck the 10B deal with OpenAI, it was mentioned on CNBC and business networks.
      That's why if you are an avid user of copilot you'll notice you get certain things for free that you'd have to pay ChatGPT to get access. You get a taste, and that taste is good enough for most people.
      Open AI isn't at AGI level. When they get there, they'll make it known.

    • @kamu747
      @kamu747 5 місяців тому

      @@chetubetcha8090
      I wrote a reply already, but it seems it wasn't posted, so here's another one.
      Read again what I wrote, I never said Microsoft gets access to OpenAI's AGI. That's not part of the agreement, How can they when their deal with OpenAI excludes them from any AGI that OpenAI might develop?
      I said Microsoft gets 1st mover advantage out of anything OpenAI creates (up until they reach AGI, and then no more) because Microsoft’s deal grants it an exclusive licence to OpenAI’s intellectual property, for the time being. Whatever updates they develop for the AI assistant, Microsoft showcases for a few weeks or a month before they become full-on available on the ChatGPT platform, albeit in a limited way. Think of Dall-E available for free but with a daily quota of about 15 images, whereas on ChatGPT, it's available for up to about 120 images daily. A lot of the features were available on Bing (now copilot) before they were available on ChatGPT, again, in a limited way.
      You said Microsoft is never going to say they have AGI, and I'm telling you it isn't up to Microsoft to do that, nor is it in their place, only the OpenAI board can do that as detailed in their charter. All of this information is publicly available.
      And they will announce when they achieve it because it'll be a great honour to be the 1st company to achieve that, it'll also boost their value in an extraordinary way, there's little to no upside to keeping quiet about it, especially when many others are trying to achieve the same goal.

They all contributed money, Musk $40m but in the grand scheme, that was very little, could hardly keep them afloat beyond 1 year, even Musk says it in one of the emails, you need more than $1B a year if OpenAI has any chance of competing with Google.

  • @SkepticalChris
    @SkepticalChris 5 місяців тому +2

    Its so blatantly obvious, that Elon Musk is bitterly jealous of OpenAI's successes and how the public view him. While Musk himself now is so strongly hated and reviled in public, Sam Altman and OpenAI are seen as pioneering visionaries of future technology, not Tesla.
    According to the released emails, Elon Musk tried to seize control over OpenAI back in 2018 by basically trying to financially blackmail them and threaten them into becoming a subsidiary of Tesla, and he failed, and even stormed off throwing a tantrum when they refused, angrily declaring he was going to start up his own AI to compete with them.
    5 years later, OpenAI is still growing heavily successful and seen as one of the most important and pioneering companies of the day, while Tesla is having failed launched of the cybercar, and Elon himself being attacked personally by the media on a day to day basis, no surprise that Elon Musk's jealousy is the source of this lawsuit.

    Well, you might think that is the case but first look at Jeff Bezos, who has made a career out of getting contracts by suing. He lost to SpaceX in the human landing system so he sued the government, and they suddenly gave him a multi billion dollar contract. So lawsuits work. In this case, Elon musk was one of the founders of open AI. When a company is created, the articles of incorporation include a description of what the company has been started for. If the board members do not properly, follow the company motto, and it’s reason for being And have not properly legally changed it or force others to let them change it without proper consent of the other board members then you can definitely sue in this case Elon Musk invested $100 million into open AI and he was outed by the other board members, who thencompletely backtracked not just straight, but actually did the exact opposite of what their mandate was. So yes, Elon has a great case for a legal suit.
