    Everyone has an authentic story to tell, and I love that. I get so tired of the over-the-top super eccentric videos at times. Don't get me wrong, they are entertaining. But some days I'd rather just watch the interesting story of a young man in his room, chasing his dreams.

    "vlogging is being run by insecurity" is the most "authentic" take i ever heard on it. Being your authentic self and sharing stories from a genuine place with the right intentions is in my opinion, the best form of "Vlogging". Great fucking video Ryan :)

    I feel like people are so bombarded by the fast-paced and crazy lives that youtube potrays, that they can no longer focus on the creators that will actually leave you feeling happy and with value.
    I don't know how to describe it...for example, I can watch a video from MrBeast, and yes...its entertaining, but it doesn't offer a personal connection. It only gives you temporary happiness, and then you go off, back into the sea of the algorithm.
    But with creators like you, Max, Emma Chamberlain, etc. it doesnt feel that way. When I watch one of your videos or listen to one of Emma's podcasts, I feel like I know you guys...it feels like I've just had a genuine conversation with one of my friends, and that's what keeps me coming back for more. Also, because of that connection, my brain basically holds you and someone like Casey or Emma as equal. The subscriber count doesn't affect it, my brain just recognizes you guys as... "friend".
    And I feel like this is even further accentuated with the example I gave about MrBeast...most his viewers just call him by his brand name (MrBeast), which just shows that lack of personal connection. And that lack of connection is why I really feel like the new genre of vlogging that you, max, simon, natalie, tanner, aiden, and emma have already unlocked is the future of youtube. Because you cant find that personal connection anywhere else.

    • @RyanNgFilms
      @RyanNgFilms  2 роки тому +2

      Ahhh I love how you're putting it Luis. I think it's that personal connection that is slowly being erased from the platform because it's becoming a lot more of a idea based platform, but I think both can live together. Right now it's just leaned too far to one side.

    That letter INFRUIRATED me. But I understand where the writer is coming from. I understand that what "makes it" on TV on the internet, is usually huge, extraordinary, flashy- I just don't believe that makes it valuable. There are countless beautiful French, Portuguese, Iranian films that are slow, calm, simple, mundane and incredibly human. Films about a boy searching for his friend's home to give him his homework, films about a girl going on an idle vacation with her older cousin at the beach, films that are not about supermen and superwomen, but are everything to the human experience. You're going to change things Ryan, there is a place for this kind of art in people's hearts and it just needs time to find them.

    • @RyanNgFilms
      @RyanNgFilms  2 роки тому +2

      I love films like that. Films that don't really have much of a plot and you're kind of just following these people around as they live their lives.

    • @BarknoorZ
      @BarknoorZ 2 роки тому

      @@RyanNgFilms That's the thing- they do have a plot, just not with the same structure and style we got so used to seeing in Hollywood films. But they definitely feel as if there is no plot while you're watching because we're so used to expecting these big, idea-focused events you know?

    Hey Ryan, this is absolute gold right here. The thing is, your videos resonate with me so much more than the flashy, over-the-top, clickbait videos. Maybe because I'm also a young person trying to make it as a creator, or just that I can relate to the real experiences and thoughts that you are sharing. If your videos have this impact on me I know there are countless others who can benefit from what you create. I think as it stands many people are more eager to click on something with that flashy title or thumbnail for that quick few seconds of satisfaction or dopamine rush (which I've found to be unhealthy). However if people like you keep sharing these real, and valuable stories than I hope that will instagate a shift towards more viewers watching this type of content.
    Anyways sorry for being long winded, I don't usually comment on videos but what you do really is inspiring to me!

    Ryan,
    I really love your content on this channel. I have watched every one of your videos but I never am truly as interested as I used to (sorry if that seemed harsh). Your older videos like "Can I sell this commercial for $1,000" or "How I lost 50,000 subs" were a huge hit. And maybe you find those videos not enjoyable to make, but it seemed like they were to you. These videos as great as they are, only appeal to a very small audience and I know what your goal is, I know you are searching to change how vlogging is done. If you are fine with probably never being a big name on this platform that is fine (I guess I never can know for sure though). But here is what I am suggesting;
    You have really really good editing skills and your storytelling is also really good, just try making some content that still provides lots of actual valuable knowledge and gain but also appeals to a lot of viewers and is something someone would see and eminently want to watch instead of just clicking to support the creator, which is what most of my friends do at this point (we all are like your channel).
    this is merely my opinion, if you want to completely disregard this comment I am completely fine with that, it's all good. But if this helps in any way, awesome.
    All the Best,
    Isaac

    Hey, I just wanted to say you are crazy talented and I'm sorry if sometimes you aren't getting the attention you so much deserve. You inspire me to try new things because you are my basically my idol. I am 15 years old, I've been studying film and editing in my middle and high school for 5 years now (I am a sophomore in high school) and I have many of the same ambitions you have. I want to make it big on UA-cam, I want to make amazing videos with endless amounts of creativity, and I hope to be accepted into NYU. It's interesting to see how many of the things I have learned are shown in your videos, such as the music and hooking the viewer in the first 30 seconds. You have taught me many amazing things, but some aren't as happy, like how unstable UA-cam can be, and how you can get millions of views in one day, then getting less than a thousand in the next months. You can do everything flawlessly but still not get the engagement you were looking for. You can be so creative and unique but UA-cam doesn't promote you. But on the other hand these experiences can help others grow. I use my UA-cam channel to showcase my editing and how much I've learned, I'm not concerned about how well I do anymore, just if I am learning and getting better. Because soon I will be at a level of experience that can help me go forward with anything I put my mind too, a level of experience that you have Ryan. I am not fully commenting to UA-cam yet, I'm experimenting with different types of videos and during the summer I will doing an apprenticeship with a news company my dad works for to learn how they edit. I don't know really where I'm going with this lmao but I believe in you, don't give up, and I wish you the best of luck! Also, I promise you if I had the money I would spend $100 for your Patreon so I could actually chat with you and learn more like if I was your apprentice, I might have enough money saved up on my birthday though, so I hope to talk with you soon!

    EDIT: before you read the rest I just wanna acknowledge that I got deep as fuck in this. Lol. I did not plan on sharing this much, but this video really touched me, man. I really related heavy to the shit you were saying. In fact, this whole UA-cam New Wave is a movement that hits so close to home for me. I agree with the ideals and morals y'all are pushing. Good video, thanks for sharing. With that being said, get ready for the story of the last 3 years of my life. 😂
    I've never related to a video more. "Stunts a creator before they even make they're first video." That part hit home. After doing UA-cam for the last 10 years, in 2021 I finally hunkered down, got all my boys involved, and we put a vlog out every week all summer. At the end of that summer I got a new job, met a bunch of new friends, and got a girlfriend. With all this new interesting stuff going on in my life, we quit filming. Eventually, me and my two closest friends (who keep in mind were both part of the vlogs) moved in together. Whilst living together we all got into making music, we had some of the best memories of my life, we met new people. It really felt like we were growing up together. The 3 of us were a family. A year passed, and we couldn't keep up with paying our condo, so we all moved back home with our parents. Through it all we had always planned on getting back into the videos. It never happened. Even now, after being back home for a few years, we still haven't gotten back into it. I've tried joining video classes at college to reignite my passion, but it hasn't been effective. Recently one of those friends, that I lived with, made videos with, who was one of my two BEST friends, unexpectedly took his own life. That was about a month ago.
    One of the last conversations we had, we were talking about making content. I had expressed around that time how I just felt like, "why is what I have to say even important. Now adays everyone's saying something. So why should I think I have something that important to say?" He had told me, "We just have to believe we have something to say. We just have to." He was right. He is right. We CANNOT undervalue our own experiences and lives in comparison to others.
    A topic the two of us commonly talked about in the last year was how much entertainment and media, and crazy amount of it nowadays, affects us all. Especially having it from the time we were kids to now. It's hard to get off the phones, it's hard to not spend all morning consuming all this content out there, its hard to get up and create. But I truly believe we all have SOMETHING worth sharing, and to undermine yourself out of sheer comparison is ridiculously unhealthy.

    Idk if you'll see this comment, but I loved this video. However, I still think that if you want to be successful on this platform you have to strike a balance. You could have the most beautiful message in your video, but if nobody clicks on it then what's the point? Nonetheless, I respect what you're doing, and it's refreshing to see someone like you on the platform.

    Hey Ryan!
    Are you working on any big projects like you used to? Like the iphone commercial and the video with Fumie. I feel like you just need these kind of projects where the ideas and storytelling come very naturally. Sitting in your room all day in your head trying to "think deeply" sounds like torture, and is probably not the best way to get the creative juices flowing. I hope to see some of that kind of content in the future where we can really see your talents in full swing.
    All the best!

    As if Casey Neistat just does it without thinking. His video's may seem easy to make, but they really aren't if you try. A lot of work is put in to them. (This was towards the letter) Great video from your part!
