  • In this video, I review the Audient Nero Desktop Monitor Controller. The Audient Nero is a fully featured monitor controller that can handle most applications from mixing, mastering and even headphone mixes and talkback for recording situations.
    At the price point of $500 USD, the Audient Nero is hard to beat in my opinion. The build quality is excellent and the sound is 100% transparent and does not color the signal in any way.

    Thanks so mo much for doing this great review! I was awaiting this video, as I watched your unboxing video too! I was holding off from making my purchase, but your review has been really helpful and I am literally 99% sure that I will get this controller. I was also looking at the SPL control one (which is a fairly new model and as such not many review out there) but I think Audient seems more versatile and perhaps better value for money. Thanks once again

      Thanks for your comment! And thank you for your patience while I made the video. I'm very pleased with the Nero and it is already making a big difference in my work flow. I highly recommend it! I'm sure you will be very happy with it if you do end up purchasing one. Thanks again!

    @Revenant Sound Studios 5:11 Stereo sub output would have been killer, I would have willingly sacrificed one of the headphone outputs for that, but overall I am really pleased with mine.

    Great Unit. The only thing I miss is an additional Cue Output to use an external HP-Amp in the Booth or to connect a pair of active speakers in the booth

    Great review, you touched on the detailed functionality of the unit which is what I was looking for. You mention the Nero doesn't allow multiple speakers to run at the same time excluding the sub, but I'm that one guy that wants that functionality to run both pairs of monitors simultaneously for my setup, not just one at a time. My question is are you sure it isn't possible to route multiple monitors to function at the same time ? Because I thought that was an option based on other videos I've seen. Looking forward to the feedback before I invest 5 big ones on this unit honestly lol. Thanks again, great videos also 👍🏾

      Thanks for your comment! Unfortunately, the Nero only allows for one pair of monitors to be selected at a time. I too would have liked for it to allow multiple monitors to run simultaneously. I'm not sure if they've updated the software to allow this feature. But mine surely doesn't allow it. Hope this helps your decision. Good luck!

      @@RevenantSoundStudios It's funny you mentioned update, that thought came to mind as well, but I was surly in for an upset thinking that was an option so I appreciate the response, you saved me some money although the Nero was high on the list I'll continue looking around.

    Can you only listen to the sub in solo without any other set of speaker? I want to do that because I want to connect my single mix cube there and that way had 4 "sets" of speakers.

    • @RevenantSoundStudios
      @RevenantSoundStudios  2 роки тому

      You can't listen to the sub in solo unfortunately. The only way to do it is if, for example you don't have anything connected to the Alt 2 output, and you select that output along with the sub. You'll then hear the sub in solo. This is how I do it.

    Hi and great video, can i connect a Mono Avantone speaker on the Sub Input or there is another way? Thanks and great channel... :)

      @RevenantSoundStudios  Рік тому

      Thanks! You can connect the mono speaker to the Sub Output, or you can configure one of the other stereo outputs to be a mono output.

    Hey great video! Can the Nero have multiple sources... 1 & 2 ...& or Aux input.... on at the same time? Trying to replace my 16 channel mixer with this. I need 2 ST outs from my Apollo to play at once. Thanks~!

    • @RevenantSoundStudios
      @RevenantSoundStudios  2 роки тому

      Unfortunately I think you can only listen to one source (input) at a time for each output.

    Hey, could you say if I can use 3-4 headphone outputs in the same time? Or it's the limited just to one headphone at time as the outputs?

    I've just go one, and have an issue... Does yours make a loud pop into the speakers when you turn it on while the speakers are already on? I think it shouldn't do that because of the relay system, but I want to get your opinion. Thanks.

    • @RevenantSoundStudios
      @RevenantSoundStudios  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately I believe it does send a pop to the speakers. I remember reading about it in a forum. I haven't tested it myself though. I switch on my gear in order of the signal chain so it isn't really an issue for me.

      Might be better to turn on your interface before , When you turn on all Speakers come last , When u turn off all Speakers turn off First .

    Hello Revenant Sounds. I also just got mine. I have two sets of speakers connected to it. One in the "mains" and the other in the Alt 1. My issues are two fold: 1) when I select the Alt 1 output to hear the speakers connected to it, it goes into learning mode. Mind you, I only pressed the alt 1 button once when selecting this channel but yet it goes into learning mode.
    2) Sometimes the light on Alt 1 doesn't come on when I press it. The only way I could get it to respond was to press firmly on it for about 3-5 seconds. I tried pressing on it with the normal amount of pressure but it doesn't respond. It is only when I put an insane amount of pressure does it come back on. I'm thinking mine might be a returner and to get an exchange unit but I wanted to know if you've had some of these problems and is it something I don't understand about the unit? Tks for reading.

    • @RevenantSoundStudios
      @RevenantSoundStudios  3 роки тому +1

      Hey there, sounds like your unit might be faulty. On mine, the speaker switching buttons work with 1 push of a button, you hear a relay click and the button lights up. To access "learning" mode, you would hold the button down for a couple of seconds. Seems like yours is going into learning mode with just a push. So yeah, unfortunately yours is probably faulty and I think you'll need to return it.

    How can you get talkback into HP1? Also do you leave yours on? Thanks!

    • @RevenantSoundStudios
      @RevenantSoundStudios  2 роки тому

      I believe you click the SRC button next to the HP1 knob and then select the Talkback button (turns red). I haven't tested to see if it actually works, but this how it would be done. I turn mine off when I'm not using it.
