Ahhh that makes me so happy! Welcome to this small little family! Have you started your booktube channel already? Share! I hope you find here great people and tons of new books to read! Yes! It took me ages to make peace with the Poppy War, but I love it now!
@@FunFantasyBooks Thanks so much for having me! I havent started yet just really nervous about it hahah! I have really only ever read like 10 books in my life so i thought it would be cool to start up and read em all and vlog it haha!
Missing anyone? Let me know, I’ll be adding them here for the rest to check😀: - Tolkien’s LOTR: has 2,6M ratings and 4.38 stars | should be top 5 - Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time (honorable mention!): has 479,200 ratings and 4.18 stars | should be top 5 - Terry Pratchett's Discword: has 355,000 ratings and 3.99 stars! - Robin Hobb with The Farseer Trilogy (honorable mention!): 280,000 ratingsand 4.14 stars Very much loved authors not included in this video due to the ratings limit: - Fonda Lee with her Green Bone Saga: 33,000 ratings and 4.11 stars - Ken Liu with the Dandelion Dynasty series: 15,300 ratings and 3.74 stars
My all time favorite series is The Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee. It’s not just my favorite fantasy series, but my favorite across all genres. I love your energy and enthusiasm. Your videos are so much fun.I discovered your channel when I was recovering from Covid two weeks ago. I binged all your videos. I don’t mean to sound weird, but your reviews really cheered me up while I was so miserable. 💕
I am dying to get to the rest of the Green Bone Saga! Fell completely in love with Jade City (like I am still traumatized!) it was so very hard not to include Fonda Lee here (but sadly she has way less ratings as of now comparing her with the rest!) Aww! Thank you so much for watching the videos & overall check the channel! I am sorry you had covid! Hopefully you are better now 💜! I absolutely adore that the videos made you feel better! I am today in a particular not-so-great day and this comment really cheered me up!! 💕🫶
These are all rather recent books (like last 10-20 years), though this is understandable, giving the popularity being the criteria. I wonder where the Malazan would fit, as it's on many, many people top list of fantasy series (I personally have't read it, but everytime I hear about it it's all in superlatives). Other highly appreciated are Ursula K LeGuin and Guy Gavriel Kay. I'm surprised SJM made into this list - yes, her books are evry popular, but I didn't know about high ratings.
You’re absolutely right with Malazan!! I haven’t read it yet, but it’s definitely at the top of a lot of lists! It sits with 105,000 ratings and 3.90 stars which makes sense as a lot of people said it’s a hit or a miss for them! K. Le Guin with her Earthsea cycle has 281,000 and 4 stars so def should be at the top! Guy Gavriel Kay’s works seem to be all under 50k!! I think SJM makes sense as in she’s so so popular for her other series, this adult fantasy was almost instantly a hit? A Court of Thorns and Roses has a hit more than 1,1M ratings which is wild! (Just realizing!!)
Hi:) I started reading Guns of the dawn from your recommendation and absolutely love it! Thank you so much for the recommendation. Keep up the good work❤️❤️❤️
Oh I am glad it was for you!! When reading it really I was like “umm I wonder if I need to be smarter to get the whole meaning of this book 🤣” but I still really enjoyed some parts, specially the “short” stories! Hahah yes for the Poppy War! Can’t wait to read Babel!!
Great picks!! I am on the fence with Mistborn! I believe it is actually categorized as YA, but it does not feel that way at all! What do you think? Adding Ryiria Revelations (62,000 ratings, 4.21 stars), Ten Thousand Doors of January (103,000 ratings, 4.05) & Piranesi! (167,000 ratings, 4.26 stars!) thanks for the comment!! 💕
Aww! Thank you so much!! I am a Spaniard ✨ so I have a bunch of books still in Spanish (mainly from the phase in my life where I did not know that reading in English is almost always cheaper 🤣) !! Did you like any edition? Thanks for watching!!
@@PhatYeti she’s very popular- and a great fantasy romance author! I guess tho that you need to be in that headspace if you want to enjoy her stories! 🎊
Thank you for you message!! Wheel of Time was added at the end of the video, but will pin as well! ✨🙏! Also, great point! Discworld should 100% be here: will add! The Green Bone Saga is sadly under 50K which was my threshold (Jade City has around 32k! ) I might do a part 2 with the most popular ones with less ratings 😀! Thank you so much!!
Cant believe priory of the orange tree made it to the top 20 on goodreads, its a YA book disguised as an Adult Fantasy one, only becuase its long and has light explicit sex. But all the plot around the queen's entourage is totally YA fantasy academia, the book has tons of plot holes, specially with the magic system and travelling distances (deus-ex machina left and right), and on top of that every protagonist has a thick plot armor that makes them invincible, so you never feel danger of any kind, literally the main protagonist goes visit the biggest evil witch in the world and says please don't kill me i'm your friend, the evil witch says ok you are my friend and proceeds to reveal all her magical secrets and powers and how to defeat her, and all this happens in the same scene.
Oh gosh I really really want to get into her Liveship traders trilogy! I’ve heard only wonders about it! ✨💕🫠!! Thanks for the recommendation!! Also pretty solid rating with 4.17 and 73K ratings!!
Wow, first booktuber i see that hasn’t read LotR. Well, i guess see the movies is enough. In all the list, ive only read Ice&Fire. And ive read around 85 fantasy books, although not all adult.
Im not sure how trustworthy is goodreads. After anazon biught it, great critics left it because it deleted popular negative criticism for raise the marks if the books.
The fall decorations! 🍂 I was not expecting Dresden and SJM to both beat the Lies of Locke Lamora! Fortunately SA in top 3 restores what faith in humanity I'd lost when I saw The Emperor's Soul so low❤🔥
Hahaha 🔎🍁🍂!! I was specially surprised with SJM! Like she haaaaas a lot of people loving Crescent City! (Maybe it’s also a matter of time to be honest as the book is fairly new!) Hahahaha SAME with The Emperor’s Soul! Just whyyy!! Is there any serie that you’re missing? 👀
Well, well, obviously your viewers have missed most of the great works of fantasy like Hobb, Jordan, Tolkien (for heaven's sake), Liu,... At least a few are mentioned in the honorable mentions. TJ Klune absolutely has no place in a fantasy top 20. It is cheap. Fonda Lee is in about every fantasy expert reader's list, where is she?
What I love the most about the booktube community is how we all adore books above all else! So thank you for commenting and sharing a few mentions that are missing! Tolkien is absolutely a fair point w/ +2 million ratings! I will add it now in a comment pinned so that he and other great series that I may have missed are rightfully linked! However tho, the spirit of the video was to highlight the most popular fantasy books according to the ratings, and although I adore Fonda Lee & Ken Liu, their works are not above 35K ratings, therefore excluded from the list. I believe they are incredible authors and a must of modern fantasy, just are not ranking as the most popular of all time. I hope you understand 😀.
Oh! I don’t know about the plagiarism (although she said that it was based on legends & some real facts) - but for me the war topics & the rage that the main character has made it adult!

I hyped when you show the book you have in Spanish Edition. Greetings from Colombia 💛💙❤
Hahaha yayyyy! Oh I am glad!! I am always torn about sharing them or not! So happy you hyped!! 💜💜
Since the first book in a series is always going to have the most ratings this system just doesn’t work for series that start off at there worst
In malazan for instance the first book has a 0.34 lower rating than the next lowest rated book in the series
Interesting books. Wish to read them all one day.
I am glad you liked them!! Hopefully you’re able to read them!! 🤞✨
While the Starless Sea isn't for everyone, it as for me! lol I agree with you that the Poppy War would rank in the top 5 for me as well!

May I suggest "Verelyn the Dastardly" by Brandon Baltes? Just released, but better than 95% of fantasy I've ever read.

Poppy war isn’t adult fantasy. It’s YA at best 😂 and the author rf kuang plagiarized Chinese legends and myths
