Bummer! Still, could have been pissing with rain. Knowing you, you sorted it. Looking forward to part two.

Hi Moto :-) lol yes at least it was dry, I did get it sorted but it did cut my ride short.
Editing pt 2 as we speak, won't be long.

Have to get back on the Triumph.. too many projects right now. Building a Harley Chop, Just finished a 93 GSX600F I was flipping and some nice person backed into it and knocked it over. Proceeds were going to fund the Chop and Triumph carbs :( Thanks for the sanity trip once agian. It's late, I'll save the rest for tomorrow ~25 mins in. Makes me so jealous of the roads and a little homesick too. Cheers man.. PS, I just can't help raising a finger and dropping the nod at passing bikes on the vid :D

Hi Jeff :-) all work no play! a little riding makes the graft worth it. I hope there was not too much damage done to the GSX.
Like you I just can't help but give a wave or nod to passing bikers, not all return the gesture but there ya go!
Glad you are enjoying my ride vids.

American Harley riders are pretty snobby, if I'm on my Harley, they ALL acknowledge me, if I'm on my Suzi or Yammy, then NOTHING lol.

    • @lunmad

Tiz the same here Jeff, Harley's, BMW and sport bike riders are the worst for not acknowledging I always think they dare not let go of the bars :-D
Guys on old hackers always give a wave back for some reason!

Hi Steve :-) It certainly stopped me going further, on the bright side it was a nice day and we had a good ride back.

Go figure you got a flat with her on the back eh? It never (almost) happens when you are alone but when she's there to gripe it'll happen :D Good to see you posting again John, been watching them in my room in the wee hours of the morning so I haven't been saying much. That said, it sounds like your silencers are getting pretty worn out eh? And your comment about pinging, I heard it pinging a bit when you were headed up the steep hill in the last one too.. odd that it's pinging with lower compression.
If you've heard of ASMR I swear these are mine, I absolutely love the sound of a real Bonneville, nothing else like it (certainly not Hinkley Triumph, which I point out to them at every given opportunity on facebook) and it's so relaxing for me. I wish I had the $5kUS it'd take to buy the T120C from my father and rebuild it and get it back on the road. Alas I'm still struggling with head issues as well as back and foot issues that are keeping me from working.

I'm pretty sure I've figured out what it is on top of the depression, it's just a matter of getting a specialist that deals with that to say yes before I officially post it anywhere. The doctor I talked to a couple weeks ago generalized the condition to only being the worst and so he said I didn't have it.. He was worthless, he pushed me so much that I got a nosebleed from the stress, and he was basically on skype, he wasn't even there. -.- How can you be a psyche on the computer and not directly in front of the patient where they can react if something happens? Thanks though, I know you struggle/have struggled with depression and stuff too.

Thanks for loading this. Sitting here in Ontario Canada it was great to take a trip through the area I used to live and looking forward to you arriving in my old village of Goathland. It might just be the audio, but sounds like the engine is pinking a bit under load?

    • @lunmad
      @lunmad  7 років тому

Hi David and Mary-Ann :-) I was actually on my way to Gothland but getting the puncture put paid to that.
I will do another run over that way and give a tour around the area of Gothland (Heart beat country)
Yes a little pinking is happening under heavy load I will be retarding the timing a touch and maybe set the tappets.
I have only given it an oil change since I did my engine rebuild so I owe it a first proper service :-)

    Marvellous footage, John. Until...
What a bugger, that's another flat on video. Unusual for you to have no gear, so part two will be interesting. Knowing you, you manage to fashion a new inner tube out of sheep intestine and a bit of old gate you found. Haha. Seriously though, a crisis indeed and a beautiful ride brought to a halt.
Had a flat on the front of the Enfield recently, got some tyre irons and had a go, but could I get the bloody tyre off? Could I bugger. There I was kneeling on the tyre to keep it in the well, your old tyre change video on my phone trying to follow along, and nothing worked, there was just no give in the Avon roadrider beads at all. At best a fifth of the bead over the rim. Felt so useless. Sweat pouring off me, you made it look so easy too. Oh well.
Looking forward to seeing what happens in part 2!

I've heard that about Avons, most people say they should only be run tubeless.. That's why you stick to the old school Dunlop K70 or step up to the TT100 if you want a wider tire. They aren't all that expensive either. www.2wheel.com/dunlop-vintage-k70-rear-tire.html?sku=420245&Shopping&Tires%20and%20Wheels

Hi Otis :-) any tubeless tyre (tire) can be run with a tube, the idea of tubeless is to keep the unsprung weight down.
Sealing spoked wheels is difficult so they need a tube.
Alloy rims on the other hand are usually tubeless as they are not full of holes :-D

Hi Pete :-) I had my spanners but did not have my levers with me, it did stop the ride and I did not get to Gothland as I intended.
If I have to get a puncture I much prefer it on the rear and as I have tyre grips fitted there is little chance of tyre coming off rim.
There is a definite knack to change a tyre breaking the bead can be the biggest pain pouring sweat is guaranteed especially in leathers on a hot day!
      Working on pt2 now :-)
