AoS really explored Carl "Crusher" Creel more as a person than the comics did. The idea that the sensation of absorbing materials might be enjoyable. The idea that he would have drawers of different materials on hand to have them as needed (and to experience each of them). The fact that he could camoflage himself by sanding in fornt of a material that he absorbed or that he could absorb the transparency of his perspex cell.
Absorbing Man has always been a interesting character for me ever since I read he up in my old Hulk comic book collection. He’s an epic adversary of Hulk, but to think that he could potentially one of the most powerful entities in the Marvel universe had he actually had a stronger intellect because not to be rude but his brain is denser than the materials he absorbs. If he was smart he could easily outwit almost any super hero because he could basically become unstoppable. But of course his character has like the imagination of a 3 year old.
Believe it or not, he actually started as a Thor villain. See in the comics, he was in prison serving time and Loki, wanting a superpowered pawn to fight Thor, slipped an Asgardian herb into his food, granting him his powers.
Fun fact: this version of Carl Creel/Absorbing Man fought Matt Murdock’s dad in a boxing match in a Netflix’s Daredevil. @2:11. Does anyone else laugh at her smirking and saying “why don’t we find out what makes this thing so deadly” intending to use it as an ultimate weapon, and what makes it so deadly immediately becomes clear to her for barehanding it
Wouldn't it have been easier to have different rings of different metals? That way he doesn't have to worry about finding a material to transform his body into? He can always have 10 rings on his hands at any given time So he can quickly switch between diamond's, Steel, Concrete, Brass, etc?
From what they showed from the ball and chain he needs a certain amount of material to do full body transformations. If he had rings he could at most turn his hands into the material but nothing more.

The ending of this video reminds me of that “adapt to survive” guy from X-Men first class, he had awesome & unique powers, & the writers wasted no time, killing him off ☹️. He had potential, imho, even as a main character in a solo film, hope to see him in the MCU.
Darwin is quite literally unkillable in the x-men canon, so the fact that they made a show of how strong their big bad was by making him kill Darwin was a low blow, especially when the same big bad later died due to a penny entering his forehead. Seriously, Dawin survived an interaction with Hella, the goddess of death, because his powers made him a god of death.
@@enigma6890 unfortunately a lot of marvel movies especially the x-men movies are inaccurate to the comics but Darwin in the comic storyline is definitely unkillable like you mentioned. That and he's originally mostly a free agent like Emma frost, deadpool and psylocke but still joins the x-men when his assistance is needed. As for the hela ( since marvel renamed her to that from hel) feat she decided to leave him alone after that. Which just goes to show how powerful darwin really is because not even the most powerful of all the Norse gods and goddesses want to pick a fight with Darwin lol.
Darwin is really cool and they buried him fast. They didnt even expore his reflexive adaptations where he doesn't know how his body will change .Kinda seems like Absorbing got buried here too. May always has some cheap jump on him, Coulson had some gimmick weapon, he gets beat by 3 spies, not to mention the near constant beat up by a small girl trope..... This is a dude who held his own with Hulk... now he aint shit.
@@KasirRham When did Darwin hold his own against the Hulk? I'm only vaguely aware of a time when Darwin gained teleportation and distanced himself from Hulk as the best means of survival. I'm not doubting it could happen, just curious and would like to check it out.
This is off of Agents of Shield, the character we are seeing is Carl "Crusher" Creel. Throughout the movies and Comics he's been known as absorbing man to if I'm not mistaken. He's also been a boxer who fought Jack Murdock, Daredevils dad. If you watch throughout the MCU movies and Netflix TV shows oh, you'll see references to him. Also in the Ben Affleck movie I believe he is the one that Matt Murdock's dad had just fought before he was murdered, I might be wrong on that but I really want to say it was Crusher creel that he fought
@@Philamosity I actually wanted to add on to this. I'm currently re-watching the entire Marvel Universe including TV shows One-Shots and movies in chronological order. Season 1 episode 13 of Daredevil has a clear shot of the Carl Crusher Creel versus Battling Jack Murdock fight poster
You know I really would love to see him battle against Thor or the Hulk with the budget his powers would have in a movie. Also does anybody else ever realize that when you make a live-action adaptation of something like a book, you realize realistically how much difference there is in character sizes (When the height of the actors match those of the people from the books that is but even still).
he actually did fight thor in an animated movie and absorbed the metal of thors hammer though unfortunately for absorbing man when he absorbed the uru he also absorbed mjonlirs enchantment and which pretty much allowed thor to telekineticlly throw him around and paralyze him
This was a great character. Anyone who gave up on SHIELD really should give it another spin, it improves massively and honestly some of what happens later in makes the early episodes better in hindsight.
@@henzo7789 you finished the 5th season? Well you made it to basically the end haha. Seasons 6 and 7 are short bonus seasons. They are still good, but I like the first 5 the best
To be honest, the only part that bothers me is the car flipping scene, I've seen roads break after people dropping things way less heavy than a car. If he absorbed and turned into the same concrete as a road, that SUV would've had a giant dent and split him to pieces
Yeah, but his power is not only absorb the material, he also adapts it to his body, allowing him to move and use his power only in some parts of his body, that's why he sometimes shows super strength without being using his power externally. For example: 0:49, 8:17 and 9:06. It's entirely logical that in the SUV scene he's using super strength to resist the impact.
@@ScreenMasterMCU Well, all the concept is retarded, let's face it. If you turn your arm into steel, and then try to lift a truck, even if the arm is strong enough what happens it's that the arm detaches from the flesh shoulder before the truck moves. Also, superstrength doesn't mean "inmunity to inertia"... a marmol statue with that shape gets pushed several meters by a car impact. Only Moore's Miracleman treated superpowers in a semi-logic way...

I wouldn't mind a superhero tv series of a guy that can absorb stuff like this it would be really cool. He'd be a cooler version of Kevin Levin and he'd be able to absorb stuff at his own will.
Tv shows always have a fraction of the budget to stretch over the course of a season or more that movies do, so the CG work they did for all his different absorbing episodes was done rather well and looks really well done, good animation and color matching to the scene lighting, overall they did a great job, felt almost like it was practical even though I know it wasn't!!!...
Due to the magical nature of his powers (loki gave them to him via potion) creel can bend the rules on what he absorbs, something he hasn't done much due to how dense he is, a good example is a plane engine giving him turbines on his legs, a machine gun causing said gun to sprout all over his body and became a living nuclear dust storm.
Absorbing Man definitely has one of the most versatile powers in the show. It’s concept is simple but it’s range of applications is damn near limitless. It would definitely be first on my list of super powers I would wish for, second would be hyper intelligence and reasoning, third would be transformation like Beast Boy and/or Mystique, and fourth would be super strength and speed together.

I’m waiting for him to touch those infinity stones, but that would be a different end game.

Neither did I but then again I've never actually watched it.
This is season 2, absolutely ages ago lol
Seriously? He was in nearly every season until he died.
@@TerrellMatthews I think he means he's never watched the show.
May always has some cheap jump on him, Coulson had some gimmick weapon, he gets beat by 3 spies, not to mention the near constant

I completely agree. His set of powers were definitely worthy of more screentime in that movie.

He was originally a villain from Thor's comics. He once absorbed Thor's hammer.
@Y'all Lame it's not even and that has nothing to do with what I said
Hulk 2003 has the Absorbing man as the villain
In the SNES Hulk game you can battle him yourself
he actually did fight thor in an animated movie and absorbed the metal of thors hammer though unfortunately for absorbing man when he absorbed the uru he also absorbed mjonlirs enchantment and which pretty much allowed thor to telekineticlly throw him around and paralyze him

It's entirely logical that in the SUV scene he's using super strength to resist the impact.
mmhmm same with metal sure that protect him against a lot but metal can be bent by bullets even pearcing them so i dunno
@@NKGAMING-ri4qm yes it can penetrate thin metal but metal the thickness of a human is damn near bullet proof
@@aaronaustin9814 yeah i know but its still level a dent in it
@@ScreenMasterMCU Well, all the concept is retarded, let's face it.
Absorbing Man went trough hell of story arc, from brainwashed superpowered minion, to reformed villain who uses his powers for good, to tragic figure who died needless. He was a fun and interesting character.

I wouldn't mind a superhero tv series of a guy that can absorb stuff like this it would be really cool. He'd be a cooler version of Kevin Levin and he'd be able to absorb stuff at his own will.
the scene of him opening the door and then just suddenly appearing in front of us with a punch ready to go is so stuipdly amazing i love it.
