I just picked one of these up at Lowes. I keep it in my semi truck of doing minor repairs to the truck or trailer. So far, it hasn’t disappointed. I have used it for some trailer mudflap holders and a door hinge that was busted.
Hi Wade, enjoyed your review and tips. You are probably aware of an interesting phenomenon reported on the Torque Test Channel with these Bosch Freak series. They found that much better torques could be acheived by inserting an impact-grade hex--->socket adapter into the snout. Experimentally, they got higher Max torques than with socket directly onto the 1/2." Would be interesting if you'd rerun you're failed 140ft# lugnut removal test using their method. It would be for science:-) BTW, they compared 3 gens of The Freak that precede the 1800C you reviewed.
@@WadeofAllTrades i have used them all: Milwaukee, Dewalt, makita, etc. Some are more powerful, but I've always found the Bosch batteries outlast any other brand as far as duration. I'll sacrifice a bit power for battery life. Great review! I bought this to replace my four way.
haven't found a lot of reviews on this one, but I got it nonetheless. I was on the fence between a dewalt or makita combo kit but I figured I didn't really needed the drill. Hope it works well
I jus picked one up for $99 at Lowes, only really got it because i already have the drill w/hammer which i really like and also picked up for $180 some 5-6 years ago. I wasn't expecting it to take off a slightly overtightened lug nut or a rusty one, but does manage a snug lugnut just fine. But I'm planning on using it to speed up smaller bolts on cars and i don't have a impact driver either. Otherwize i have a Snap-On impact gun for lugnuts np. In the end of the day i'll only recommend if you already have bosch batteries or if you need a light impact "wrench" or a very strong impact driver for large screws or lag bolts. I wouldn't bother worrying about using impacted rated sockets IMO
@@6atlantis no, just 1800. The "c" seems to just be "connect ready" to add the bluetooth Today i slapped a 6.0Ah battery on there, definitely much better. Starting to like it. I'll keep playing with it. Side note; my buddy got a Milwaukee Fuel 3/8" Stubby, definitely stronger. I would stick to impact rated sockets
@@MrHeHim cool. Is there the speed/mode selector button next to the led light? If so you lucked out because the $99 kit at Lowe’s comes with the 1800 with the regular battery(not CORE), bag and charger and no “speed” settings.
This impact driver-wrench is intended to be used for either metalworking or woodworking. Until now I am still dumbfolded with numerous videos of this machine being used to loosen/tighten wheel nuts, which requires more torque and a solid socket holder (not hollow like this one). Why?
It's multi-purpose. I bought it because it had good specs and was priced very well. I have used it to work on numerous vehicles, has more than enough power for doing so. Battery surprisingly lasts quite awhile too. Mostly got it to work on my car and I've used it on everything from working on cars to hanging shelves in the house. No complaints from me.
I bought one of these a few months ago. I had the 1st generation freak for about 5 years. Great impact. But I have had the same issue on the gen 2. I put a few drops of 3 n 1 oil in and around the red collet area. Seems to have fixed it. Until it gets heavy use...
Stay away from it. Bosch quality is not what it used to be. Not made in Germany or USA. Made in China & Asia. Looked used when I bought it new, they charge restocking fee on Amazon if returned, even if it didn't work properly.

I've yet to use a Bosch tool I didn't like.

Manuel Uribe I have been using mine for a few months now and still very happy with it. I am sure you will be too. Cheers!
I have the gdr version without the 1/2 socket adapter and I love it.

Are you sure you got this model. The $99 one at Lowe’s is an 1800 but not this one.
@@6atlantis says GDX18V-1800 on the drill
@@MrHeHim does it say 1800c?

If failed the lugnuts challenge because you're left-handed
A nailer, chainsaw... etc
So can also drill metal (steel)?
Only in an emergency using a hex drill bit. Drilling through thick metal is best done with a drill on a lower speed.
How do I get the fucking hex bit out ?? I just bought one and I can’t get the fucking 1/4 hex out !!!!
Hold the red ring and hit it in reverse. I had the same issue.

If you don't mind the worst "provantage" customer service ever, go ahead.. NO MORE Bosch products for me.

My red ring release has the same problem. Is there a repair or replacement for this?
